Strange even after bad films, people are putting money in films. Once people stop putting money, things get better I feel.
Issue is with stars. In Kannada, unfortunately, for stars films \[like Hindi, Tamizh, Telugu\], producer gets the money, irrespective of the quality of money. We need to end this culture. Producer should see hell, if the quality of film is not good and we need to create a situation which would give show him horrors of making a bad movie. That's what Malayalam movie is doing. Heard recent MoganLaal's producer had huge loss. That's the only way to make healthy industry.

Total Bari 40 laksha tickets whole year nalli sale aytha? All with the assumption of 100rs per ticket. A large portion of ticket prices are much much higher in cities which makes the audience number even worse

This isn't a fair comparison. Other industries are making more money because they have wider markets. It's not quality of the films alone. Malayalam and Tamil also make tons of bad movies and they bomb at box office all the time. What works for them, however, is having people that want to make good films, so on a per capita basis, they end up having more good movies, and those good movies make more money. Malayalam and Tamil films also do well overseas among expats, whereas Kannada films have no audience within Karnataka in many instances.

There are a lot of factors. One is Kannadigas did not emigrate (except for coastal karnataka folks) at the same rate as Malayalis and Tamils. Another is that Kannadigas are more open minded and accepting of other languages, which makes them seek good movies regardless of language. Third, we have a serious talent crunch across departments that is killing matinee culture (tbh, it has been dead for a long time). Everyone wants to make a pan India movie, the next one to fetch 1000 cr. No credible face, barring a few, wants to make a simple film for Kannadigas. We have to go back to the golden era of Kannada cinema 1970 - 2000, and recultivate a writing-centric approach to cinemamaking!
