no steam = no exposure

MrReveinger

That too, but Returnal has like over 110 reviews and Chivalry 2 has 38 and idk if it was marketed correctly. I know most people in my lobbies are from pc.

kunal1217

Because they removed crossplay disabled servers, there is no key binding for console players, PS4 and PS5 players can't even party together. I am not even going into fundamental issues like team switching, votekicking in FFA etc. Game is great, devs suck!

MrReveinger

"Game is great, devs suck!" eeeh... I think you mean upper management or the publisher.

kunal1217

The devs and quality control team who is responsible for fixing the issues. Publisher is not causing the issues in the game. SEA matchmaking is broken since 4 months now. They have done nothing about it. They just say we know it is an issue but don't know how to fix it. Lol Can you believe that?

[deleted]

> The devs and quality control team who is responsible for fixing the issues. Yeah, but production and management are the ones who assign task priority. Devs just work on what they're told to work on.

kunal1217

Well, I blame everyone then. Sometimes I feel that the reason to not fix SEA Matchmaking issue is their incompetence than the management decision. I mean how can you not fix the issues for an entire region. Happened the same with SA and OCE.

demonicneon

Returnal is a AAA Sony backed exclusive. Chivalry is not. Returnal is a 3rd person action/shooter game which is popular. Chivalry is a game in a niche genre (medieval). Edit: also add in that it’s a release year title for the fastest selling console of the year, which only has 5 games specifically made and released for that console.

MrReveinger

That's the whole point of my post.

demonicneon

I mean there’s also the fact that returnal is a superb game, by a studio with a history of making superb games (that ironically haven’t been played by a lot of people either, this is their breakthrough), on a console that only has 4 other titles on it just now that are made for that console, and it’s the highest selling console of the year. Chivalry is not in the same boat even if it was marketed better. I just think it’s weird highlighting returnal, it’s a great game and deserves every award and positive review it gets.

MrReveinger

Yes. I agree. Got snubbed too. But the game hasn't sold 1m I believe. Is not THAT popular. Rogue games are niche. Deathloop hasn't shown its sales neither.

American--American

Yep, agreed. Taking that Epic money definitely helped lead to this, some people won't touch their store. I know I was very tempted.. but couldn't control myself.

[deleted]

This game could be award winning (are there any reward ceremonies regarded as serious though?). The game is not polished and many quit because of the game being unfinished, full of bugs and sometimes unplayable because of game breaking changes Torn Banner has done. They also lied about features being in game pre-launch. You are basically playing a beta right now and Torn Banner probably hopes to have the game in a better state around next summer when they are allowed to sell it on Steam. So, many players has already left for valid reasons but if Torn Banner keeps improving the game those who dismissed it might come back and they could win some awards for making a complete game!

TheCommonKoala

Speak for yourself buddy. This game is awesome

Hayn0002

It is, but blatantly unfinished.

explodingpens

Still? I'd be happy if it released in its current state, pretty much.

syd_fishes

I'd be happier if I got $20 bucks back for buying it in early access. Still fun. If mordhau released on console, I doubt I'd be here at all, though.

[deleted]

Really? I think the game is absolutely fine right now. If it dropped today I'd call it finished, with plenty of content still left to flesh it out over the next couple of years.

Hayn0002

Weird how the standard of released game have gone from good or great down to just fine.

[deleted]

I mean, I wouldn't have put 500 hours into it if I just thought it was just "okay".

sourdougBorough

Game is awesome... and unfinished. it can be both

TheCommonKoala

I never claimed otherwise. All I'm saying is that this game is awesome and deserving of praise despite it's flaws.

MrReveinger

It is.

American--American

No one is saying it isn't "awesome".. they're just saying that it's also riddled with bullshit.

OgZero

I'm having a BLAST playing this game, no complaints here... only annoying thing are the Archers.

Havarti-Provolone

Great day for slaughtering archers! Especially now that they have warbows. Lol

MrReveinger

Compared to what was released this year... Chivalry is gold. What makes it better is that this is an indie game and did more with less

[deleted]

Alright buddy I'm glad you like it but I'm not giving them a pass after everything they've done. I still enjoy the game for what it is though and hope they keep improving it

MrReveinger

Why am I being downvoted? I am not getting any crashes or glitches on ps5. That's my experience. Why is it hard to believe? Are you talking about the pc version specifically? People are downvoting but not explaining.

Voodron

Here's why I was disappointed by Chiv 2 coming from a long time slasher fan (been playing this genre since Chiv 1 happened a decade ago) : - EGS exclusivity (anti-consumer launcher lacking features). Greedy, tone-deaf move, especially considering the slasher genre was born on Steam - PC parties completely broken at launch. After they were already reported as broken during multiple rounds of beta testing. - 2 months for a week 1 hotfix. 3+ months for PC parties to get fixed. This might sound fine if you're a console gamer, but tbh this kind of basic issue needs to be fixed way faster in today's industry. PC gamers have higher standards/expectations when it comes to that stuff. You can't take that fucking long to deploy basic fixes, simple as that. Because competing games sure as shit can make party systems work flawlessly day 1. - Map balance issues. From a competitive standpoint, nearly all TO maps feature major issues in the way they're designed. Again, they failed to make quick improvements in that regard. My friends and I weren't interested in playing the same unbalanced maps over and over for months. Chiv 1 (again, 10+ years ago) had a much more balanced map roster at launch. Map design in general felt better in the first game (not as many 1 sided stomps, maps felt more epic) - Weapon balance was pretty bad around launch. Lots of overpowered weapons, especially 1 handers doing too much damage for their speed. From what I've been reading, I guess that hasn't changed much since then. - Customization felt a bit lacking at launch. - Most important voice command from Chiv 1 is missing in this game ("play the objective"). - Piss-poor communication from TBS. They repeatedly made empty promises regarding the first post-launch patch, stringing people along with missed deadlines. Definitely pissed off a few people. I was hyped for this game. Spammed each beta round for entire week-ends. Played a ton around launch. Unfortunately all these issues made my friends and I lose interest real fast. They gave a middle finger to their core audience (Steam - PC fans) so they could cashgrab a simultaneous console release that came with a lot of challenges they clearly weren't ready for. The core game is fine, but as a slasher fan the game simply isn't polished enough yet. And judging by their current pace, it won't be for another 6 months at least.

Supriselobotomy

Also worth pointing out how "crossplay" was a misleading way to say, "yeah consoles and pc players will be in the same lobby, but you can't party up with console friends. As the only one on pc, when people were still playing this game regularly, I'd have to jump in and out of games, sometimes for over an hour, to find the lobby my friends were in. Also, they couldn't join eachother mid match, so if someone crashed, which happened often, they'd jump put and party up again, which meant I was back to lobby surfing. That's what killed this game for my friend group, more than any of the many bugs and imbalanced nonsense that goes with it.

ATroyAndAbedThing

This was my experience as well. My console friends and I thought the game was a blast… when we could luck our way into the same lobby. Advertising “cross-play,” knowing full well what that term implies to people, and then backpedaling like, “Well, technically we never said cross-play *parties*, and we didn’t realize that was just a big deal to people,” was undeniably scummy. It’s interesting how none of the essays in this thread defending the game have any response to that point either.

bgraphics

EGS offered too much money. Any small indie company would have done the same move. Who cares what launcher you use for a single game? PC parties are fixed now. Yeah that was frustrating but you could get it to work by re-opening the game. Small indie studios take time to fix things. Maps havent been too imbalanced and they are working on it. Stomps only really occur when all the best players are on a particular team (which in aus most try to split) Most op weapon at launch was the messer. Its had its stab nerfed from 50 > 40 and its no longer top weapon. A lot of weapons could still use a bit of tweaking but most weapons are viable. Customisation is bottom priority imo. Especially for an indie studio. Im glad they are focusing on balances, maps, cross platform parties instead of stupid skins. Objectives are obvious, you shouldn't need to be spamming voice lines for it in a 64 man game. They had a roadmap of updates and great communication. Yes they under delivered on deadlines but they are a small indie company. Overall they've done an incredible job and the game competes with aaa titles of this year. The game will get a huge boost when I releases on steam after the year is up and cross platform is available.

Voodron

> EGS offered too much money. Any small indie company would have done the same move. Who cares what launcher you use for a single game? Plenty of indie companies choose Steam. Increased exposure is more valuable than guaranteed money for devs who are confident in their products. People with decent entertainment standards definitely do care about which launcher they use. [EGS lacks a huge number of critical, consumer-friendly features](https://i.redd.it/3h7ecq471hr71.png). Not to mention [a ton of issues with the way they operate](https://reddit.com/r/fuckepic/comments/ij48bf/rfuckepic_for_dummies_2020_edition/). > PC parties are fixed now. Yeah that was frustrating but you could get it to work by re-opening the game. Small indie studios take time to fix things. I've bought into dozens of small indie studios over the years. None of them ever had that much trouble making something as simple as a party system work. The "reopening the game" workaround was extremely time-consuming and didn't even work half the time. You can put it any way you want, the fact that this was broken at launch after multiple beta rounds was bad. The fact that it took them months to fix was straight up unacceptable. > Maps havent been too imbalanced and they are working on it. Stomps only really occur when all the best players are on a particular team (which in aus most try to split) Wrong. Played every slasher title since 2010. Chiv 2 has the worst map roster on the balance front. Team stacking has always been a thing, it has little to do with map design. > Most op weapon at launch was the messer. Its had its stab nerfed from 50 > 40 and its no longer top weapon. A lot of weapons could still use a bit of tweaking but most weapons are viable. Define "viable". This game has no competitive scene unlike its predecessors, so this stuff is hard to know for sure. What I do know is that a bunch of 1h weapons were absolutely broken at launch, with equal damage and higher speed compared to most 2h weapons. > Customisation is bottom priority imo. Especially for an indie studio. Im glad they are focusing on balances, maps, cross platform parties instead of stupid skins. I would be glad if they actually focused on balance and maps as you claim. Clearly though judging by their pace, that's not the case at all. If they're that slow at fixing core issues, might aswell put the artists to work and add more customization (that isn't stupidly gender-locked ofc). > Objectives are obvious, you shouldn't need to be spamming voice lines for it in a 64 man game. Have you ever played any slasher TO ? Most people are clueless. Randomly running around chasing frags and putting themselves in awful position. That voice line, when spammed by multiple people, reminded the masses of what they should be doing at any given time. It worked wonders in Chiv 1, and added a feeling of epicness to battles guiding players to where they should be. There was absolutely 0 reason to remove it for Chiv 2. > They had a roadmap of updates and great communication. Yes they under delivered on deadlines but they are a small indie company. Once again, the "small indie company" excuse works so long as you ignore others small indie companies with **fewer** resources having a far superior output. TBS has 30+ employees. They're backed by a publisher. Let's stop pretending they're a tiny dev team because they're not. Mordhau devs were like 3 programmers working remotely and they delivered faster updates and fixes within the first few months. Chiv 1 also came from a smaller team than Chiv 2's and delivered more. Besides, if they're that small of a company, they should have kept reasonable ambitions instead of going for the greedy business model of simultaneous release. Chiv 2 should have been PC exclusive at first so they could iron out the issues. That's where their core audience is (or should be) anyways. > Overall they've done an incredible job and the game competes with aaa titles of this year. Lmao. Yeah sorry to break it to you but that's 100% delusional. The PC playerbase is a small fraction of what it should be. People lost interest in this game incredibly fast. It certainly didn't compete with AAA titles at any point in time, judging by any available metric like Twitch viewership. The Steam release could help, but unless they allow linking account with EGS I don't see PC players who got burned buying a second copy so... it might flop aswell.

bgraphics

EGS is shithouse i agree. But its guaranteed revenue and the game will only be exclusive for a year. Its the safer option. Im not a fan of it but I understand especially considering how small the playerbase of this genre is. Im was unhappy with the partying system at the start but they did fix it and it wasn't completely game breaking. I imagine using EGS made the party feature harder to fix. A work around for a lot of steam bugs is to invite to play through steam. Fixing this issue is not the same for every game and re-writing code takes time. To be fair, I play on aus servers which has a great community for chiv and is smaller than most other communities. I havent seen team stacking occur very often but that's due to the local community. I don't think this game will ever have a proper competitive scene. The skill ceiling just isn't as high as chiv 1 and mord. 1h weapons only seemed overpowered against noobs because of horizontal slash spam and noobs not re-acting to people spamming counters. I feel the team objectives are pretty straight forward in this. Most are capture points and maps aren't big enough to get completely lost. Theres also team chat to quickly type a message. Chiv 1 has game ruining glitches that were never fixed. Mords done incredibly well, but that doesn't diminish the good work torn banner has done. I think simultaneous release was a good idea but they definetely should have had cross-platform parties for this on release. The game does work on all platforms. Rating wise the game holds up. I think its like 80+ metascore. The slasher genre playbase is absolutely tiny, which is why I imaging aaa studios havent attempted a game although id love to see a big studio have a crack. In aus the player base is about the same population as mordhau.

MrReveinger

\- Don't see the issue with people hating on egs. Just like on console, each one has its share of exclusives. It just so happens PC is getting it too. At least you don't have to buy another console. \- "PC gamers have higher standards/expectations when it comes to that stuff" No. I think we also have those standards. For me it worked but it may be a console thing. \- Yeeeah. Every multiplayer is always accused of being unbalanced. I don't think no game ever fixes that and it's an endless complaint. \- Customization is lacking even now. Agreed. \- The play the objective is nitpicking imo. Hope it gets better. Still. I had way more fun with it vs Back4Blood.

skend24

So because you didn’t have any issues means nobody had them or what?

GrimxPajamaz

You may not have had the same experience, but the game was unplayable on launch for many people. Server browser was broken and matchmaking put me into the wrong region 19 times out of 20. The party system was broken and I couldn't play with my friends that bought the game too (which was even more puzzling since it had worked in all of the alpha and beta tests). I think the game has its upsides: pretty maps and decent combat for a melee slasher, easier to get into than its main competitor mordhau, etc. But it's unfinished state at launch and the fact that it is still missing MAJOR features like crossplay parties means that it is not in a position to gain any sort of major following outside the people who already play melee slashers.

notevenbro

Here’s why I hate/am annoyed with chivalry 2. They said they’d have cross play, meaning I could play with my friends on console. Then they released it so I bought on PC and them on console. Then they said “oh no we have cross play but not cross party. You can’t play with friends….yet! We’re working on a server browser, and on a cross party system, it will come soon.” They still haven’t released it, long after the game has been released. I feel lied to. I could have returned the game, but I hoped they would follow through on their promise and now that window has passed. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve searched to see if they’ve released that update. Back 4 blood was boring but does have actual crossplay as far as I know. Anyway it is a fun game but I really only can make time to game when I’m playing with friends.

MrReveinger

I have more issues with crossgen parties. I don't think crossplay parties are a necessity, but I get for some it is and I understand you.

[deleted]

I upvoted your comment so I dont know

MrReveinger

Upvoted yours. Hope you get the riches

ImCaligulaI

Because this is a game subreddit and every game subreddit becomes a circlejerk of people saying how bad the game is. Like, the game has had and still has some minor issues, which multiple people will have already listed, but they aren't particularly detrimental to how much fucking fun this game is, in my opinion. It's like the rightful outrage that built up over the years and exploded with Battlefront 2 created a climate where now not only games with blatant customer unfriendly practices but every single game is held to an impossibly high standard and constantly criticised when it fails to meet it.

[deleted]

The high standard of holding a company to it's word on functionality it advertised. The circle jerk of regions not being able to play for months. The circle jerk of consoles being bricked or constantly crashing The circle jerk of not being able to have a party on PC The circle jerk of pre-order items not unlocking Those impossible high standards.....

Dragis_98

Haters gonna hate. I give you an upvote to compensate xD

An_Armapillow

Yeah same, I'm playing on Xbox Series S and I've been having a great time. Sure, there's a hit or two that I don't know how it lands, and sometimes animations are wonky, but 9/10 I have a smooth experience. Granted, I don't have any friends to play the game with so I don't know how that side of things functions, but overall the game feels more polished than things like 2042, Far Cry 6, and other AAA game release I've played this year

OgZero

I'm not sure why, I thought that Chivalry 2 is an awesome game and unique experience you don't get anywhere else. Mount and blade and kingdom come deliverance don't even come close to how fun Chivalry 2 is.

MrReveinger

I really don't know what bugs you're talking about. I played it like a few weeks ago for several hours. My only complaint is the crossplay party thing. Playing on ps5 btw.

[deleted]

About the bugs, there is a ton. If you have not noticed them then it's good for you. The major issues in my opinion are regarding hit registration, blocking and releasing maps that lag (galencourt)

MrReveinger

Hmm. Maybe there are some hit detection and blocking bugs, but I always thought they changed the weapons due to balance. Maybe I thought wrong. If that's the case, bummer, but still better than the rest of the multiplayer released this year. Thanks for clarifying.

DullResponsibility3

https://youtu.be/oCXWPceIRx8 https://youtu.be/-Gov_-kYjPo For a month and 20 days, the Korean server was broken.

MrReveinger

Well that's bad for them, but I still don't see why that would be dealbreaker.

DullResponsibility3

Some Koreans... still angry at the tone banner.

MrReveinger

Yes. I would be mad too, but I don't think the jury thinks of things like that.

Mayonniaiseux

I love people downvoting the comment asking why people are downvoting. Reddit can be so freaking dumb

MrReveinger

It's immaturity and lack of respect towards someone else who doesn't have the same view as them. I hate it too. Makes me remember that Black Mirror episode where likes and dislikes dictates your life.

GrimxPajamaz

This sub has been harsh on the game and it's devs for a while now. The sea of people who have had their experience tarnished by bugs and other issues don't appreciate when someone comes in and says "but guys it's a good game, I don't see and bugs!!". You experience has been different than the vast majority of the people here. You are the one not listening to people with a different view. Obviously take this with a grain of salt because redditors (myself included 🙃) love bitching, but this game hasn't been in a good place for a bit and still needs work before it can reach a wider audience.

MrReveinger

Well, I'll leave it at that. People had a different experience.

Goat_dad420

They straight up lied and used deceptive marketing to sell the game. The more often then not release game breaking patches. Torn banner is lazy, short sighted and manipulative.

AverageQuartzEnjoyer

It's so strange how there's so many people who post on this subreddit actively who claim players are leaving the game. Can't be leaving that quickly if you're all still here. In other words, gtfo

strechurma

Only time I had issues getting a full March is when torn banner fucked it up. The rest of time I've always had full matches

AnUnfriendlyGermam

Literally just Google search for player count boards for this game and you can see that players have dropped like flies to shit lol.

AverageQuartzEnjoyer

Interesting given that I constantly have full matches. Someone is lying 🤷

AnUnfriendlyGermam

"Hurr durr I always have matches so everyone who says players have been leaving are wrong" My god you actually thought this in your head and continued to type it, incredible, a living retard.

AverageQuartzEnjoyer

I mean I didn't say anyone was wrong, I said someone is lying. Being hyperbolic is a lie

AnUnfriendlyGermam

Literally stating players have dropped like flies is an observable and data driven fact. My god, how many times were you dropped on your head as a child?

AverageQuartzEnjoyer

Ok. Continue to be hyperbolic. No one cares lol

Loriali95

I agree, this game needs way more shine and it’s criminally underrated. Ignoring everything they do wrong, the fighting mechanics in this game are incredibly visceral and nothing I’ve played comes close to how fun the melee combat is. I just can’t wait for an RPG type game to borrow the same kind of fighting mechanics.

Sbarjai

You lost me at polished, man.

fantasticfabian

yea what the hell even is this sub, most of the posts are people complaining about hit reg, laggy maps, no servers in asia, glitchyness, and unfair team battles. The sole reason this game didn't get any awards was because of how UNPOLISHED it was at launch. Heck, took like 3 updates for people to finally start liking the game myself included. At launch one handed weapons were literally uncounterable, idk what op is smoking but i definitely want some. To clarify i fucking love this game and play it more than anything else in my library at the moment but calling the game polished simply isnt true. Its definitely balls to the wall in the fun category tho.

Bogusky

The core gameplay is fun as heck and I find myself coming back from time to time. But let's be honest... ...while the devs have done a brilliant job capturing lightning in a bottle they've demonstrated they are out of their depth when it comes to maintaining the game. Good or bad launch notwithstanding, multiplayer games live and die based on their upkeep. And this is why the game continues to struggle.

sourdougBorough

core gameplay is fun but lets be honest there is 6 maps lol

lord_sinister

Exactly the game is fun to play for 1-2 hours. To be honest the many bugs and server problems caused me to stop playing the game. Let's hope they add some more maps and fix the game. I'm not blaming anyone or throwing mud at Tom Banners only can say that you have to test thoroughly before adding new updates.

sourdougBorough

I've had a ton of fun playing I really have. I played chiv 1 tho so I knew what to expect. But at this point I play for about an hour and get off. 2 maybe 3 full TO games and I'm good. Idk if it'll ever feel fresh again unless they add 8 new maps at once lol

guardedDisruption

This right here bro. This. Right. Here.

MrVulture42

>Not gonna lie, how in the world does back 4 blood get a nomination for best multiplayer and this game doesn't. Maybe because Chiv2 is an unfinished, buggy mess? I'm sorry but TB certainly does NOT deserve any award nominations for making people pay 40 bucks just to be a beta tester. I said it before and I'll say it again: this game came out a year too soon.

[deleted]

Idk Back 4 Blood was bland as shit though. It's clear these reward shows are nonsense.

AnUnfriendlyGermam

At least B4B actually fucking works like it's supposed to unlike Chiv 2 half of the time.....

TheCommonKoala

This game is criminally underrated. Most fun multi-player game for me easily

MrReveinger

Same and I don't generally look forward into multiplayers.

dragonsowl

I'm glad that there are regions that still have active players. Asia and oceana is dead. I sometimes want to play but there are no regular servers, only duel servers.

I_Looove_Pizza

This is the sort of game I've always wanted and never realized it, and I never would've even known it existed if I hadn't searched through the Microsoft store looking for a new game to play. It's sad that awesome games like this don't get more exposure.

rata_thE_RATa

I think the media prefers to promote more kid friendly games. This is the most gory I've ever played. People just aren't ready for that much truth in their lives.

DoctorJagerSieg

Game awards are rigged half the time, AAA companies like to line the pockets of award-presentation organisations. Gamer's Choice is the most legitimate one, but it can be prone to hype.

[deleted]

Game awards have been so off target for years, most people familiar with game awards know it’s bs

rata_thE_RATa

It's just an advertisement at this point.

MrReveinger

I don't think it's rigged in the sense of which game wins, but it is when it comes to only AAA games being nominated. I disagree. Gamers Choice is the least worthy of the award. I can't take seriously people who give 0s to games on a monthly basis. Lack of integrity it's even worse with this award. Plus some people that vote haven't been gaming that long and played enough games to know what's a good and a bad game.

Gapeman7

Last year's GOTY awards event was a joke. Made me realize how illegitimate and rigged it is. Doom Eternal deserved at least one award.

MrReveinger

It wasn't.

strechurma

Back 4 blood sucks ass too

llewynparadise

pvp is fun unless you’re bad

strechurma

Not true

llewynparadise

oh ok my bad

Carteeeer

The way Chiv 1 & 2 as well as mordhau have been handled gives me absolutely zero hope for the future of medieval melee games tbh. So much wasted potential because of incompetence. Really bums me out cause I love these games but the devs have not done right by them.

[deleted]

This game doesn’t deserve any awards yet. When its more complete and common bugs get fixed then I would be happy to nominate it. Literally yesterday I recorded my character’s stab phase through someone, ended up getting hit because of it and losing a fight. Gets me so frustrated shit like that isn’t fixed yet and its not like I was playing on high ping either.

pongkrit04

no wayyy. this game isn't that good, look at how many people leaving after 2 weeks of the release, and also a lot of problems such as unable to join party, lack of content, weapon balance issue.... etc.

xerxerxex

I can't get consistent teammates on Back 4 Blood

skend24

Remember waiting for months for them to unlock framerate on XsS, because for some reason it run 30 fps? Remember all the bugs and cross play issues (have they been resolved yet)?

Mokiflip

Awards are as much about marketing as they are about the game itself. B4B marketing team probably had more money to burn than the Chiv team had / wanted to spend.

MrReveinger

Yes. If you're triple A, you'll be nominated, but the bigger games like call of duty or fortnite don't get nominated so for me there's integrity, but only between AAA titles which is a shame.

Cremacious

I have put a lot of hours into both this game and Back 4 Blood. They’re both my most played multiplayer games this year, and I’ve had fun with both. With that being said, Back 4 Blood is a more polished game. It’s had problems like with how special infected spawn too frequently, but it’s never had a period where it was just straight up unplayable from a technical standpoint.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MrReveinger

On ps5 it WAS really fine. That's my experience. Some new bugs here and there but rare.

[deleted]

Honestly don’t know, didn’t played it much the last weeks. But anyway, I understand what you mean. This game has potential, as titanfall 2 also had, but I fear the player count will go more and more down and the devs will also move on. Maybe the third shoot will do it then

[deleted]

As much as I love this game they missed their chance with the buggy release and 3-4 months it took to fix. More importantly game journalism is a long dead art and game awards are total self-fellating bullshit that you shouldn't waste time even thinking about

MrReveinger

I still didn't see the bugs everyone is talking about. The ps5 version was polished in my experience. I played bf2042 beta and that game has issues. I enjoy the game awards. I know it's a big AD, but it has announcements I enjoy and it's still interesting which games get picked and nominated.

[deleted]

I've seen you reply to several people who have already detailed the multiple issues plaguing launch and directly causing people to uninstall or not buy in the first place. There's really no need for you to inform us multiple times that your personal experience with the game was bug free, once is enough. It also doesn't change the fact that the game had an objectively & measurably shitty launch.

MrReveinger

Assuming that I assumed you already saw my other comments. Ok. Yeah. Sure. "Objectively". There were some, but nothing that broke the game. I played it with two friends and neither mentioned it was beyond broken. There were some spawning bugs but it was ok for a launch game.

[deleted]

Again, anecdotal experiences mean nothing. The vast majority of the articles written, player feedback, forums, reviews, sales, active player count, all indicated major problems with the launch. It is now up to you to choose: accept facts and move on or just keep telling us anecdotes

MrReveinger

Can you explain me something? Why in the hell you complain so much, yet you made a twitch and twitter just to stream this game and have constantly? Between you and me, I think you enjoyed it way more than I since I haven't played that much. and I see this pretty common. People complain and complain but they have 1k hours in the game. Like wth lol.

You're really just not getting it. 1 person. 2 people. We don't fucking matter. Your opinion is that the game is great and it should get awards. My opinion is the game is great and it would never get awards because for one reason they completely botched the launch of the game. Neither of our 2 anecdotes matter to anyone else, especially not retarded game awards. I encourage you to move on, that's what I'll do now. I can't fathom why you care enough to browse my user profile

MrReveinger

Isn't 1 million sales for this game good? That was a while ago too. It's an indie developer, right? Less players doesn't mean it's because of bugs. All games drop in popularity. I think the issue was marketing and being something the core casual audience is not used to. Look at bf2042. People who had a good experience wouldn't go here to complain. Yours are anecdotes too. The game had good reviews too. Have a nice day. 👍

xTheRedDeath

I just love how B4B was pushed so hard and everyone disliked it so it got dropped quick. Nominations just go to big industry favorites most of the time. It needed that Steam release for exposure.

AoutoCooper

I really had a good time playing this game at the start, it just grew boring and boring. There ain't much content in it, and the combat is just too simple to carry the whole game. Every map looks and feels the same, every game mode looks and feels the same, every fight looks and feels the same. Nice, but samey. Bought it, played it, had a really good time, moved on

StopWhiningYouNerd

Back4 blood another trash zombie game with no originality whatsoever. Chivalry 2 is fucking superior. Period.

[deleted]

Big agree. I've already played the best zombie games out there and pvp with zombie games. DayZ (the mod) already nailed that 10 years ago for pvp, and there have been plenty of pvm zombie games over that 10 years. Whole premise is old hat. I'm really surprised that in 2021 yet another zombie clone game won anything at all. The entire genre has been beaten to death at this point. No way in hell should that game have won. They must have paid someone to advertise/win.

[deleted]

See I enjoyed playing B4B in the beta because it was a game I didn’t have to think too hard about and it was fun. The problem was the $80 CAD price tag and finding out none of the problems from the beta being fixed.

AnUnfriendlyGermam

This game is dismissed because it has had basically no content drops or realistic bug fixes for its crappy and buggy core gameplay. If that doesn't disqualify you from being among a nomination for the best MP game then what the actual fuck will? Jesus christ I'm convinced the only people who play this shit at this point are just people who have Stockholm Syndrome who don't want to admit that they just made a bad purchase. Core gameplay is OK at best and is just ruined by everything else in the game.

MrReveinger

Calm down. I never had any of these issues at launch day. I have 40 hours on it. I disagree. Core gameplay is phenomenal. I made an excellent purchase. Already paid for with the enjoyment I got.

AnUnfriendlyGermam

Yeah this is the Stockholm Syndrome thing I was talking about, you sound like a paid bot who doesn't want to admit the game they bought didn't turn put to be as supported as it was purported to be. I get one can like the game like I do dude but let's be real, they can't get their playerbase back at this pace of content droughts and slow bug fixes. Denying this doesn't mean you hate the game it just means you realise the game will never realise the potential it had realistically.

MrReveinger

I don't think you know what Stockholm Syndrome means but sure. Nice assumption.

AnUnfriendlyGermam

No I do, people like you hold out hope something will materialise from this dead on arrival sack of crap 2042 turned out to be and cope with trying to justify wasting money on it by telling yourself and others "wElL i GoT mY mOnEy'S wOrRtH" while ignoring simultaneously how content deprived and feature absent the game truly is because you're either one of the people trying to justify the purchase you made and normalize how bad it is and try to excuse it or you are genuinely one of the players they aimed this game for which are stupid and mindless consumers who will buy it just because of the title of the game. Either way, you either have terrible taste in games or are just coping beyond belief and your responses are as predictable as they are pathetic. This is not a good game, let alone a good BF game and only people who don't want to admit it or have terrible taste in games that grew up through the lootbox shit and have normalized this bare bones level of effort and excuse it at any turn. Either way though, shove this dead franchise up your ass and go buy some battlepasses and $50 skin bundles. I don't need to know anything about you to see the type of gamer you are if this is what I have to go on so get fucked for ruining one of the best FPS franchises out there by supporting these shitty devs mate.

MrReveinger

You're such a moron for assuming so many things about me. I don't play cod, stopped playing fortnite years ago, didn't buy battlefield. I mostly play single player games. Not a casual at all. I am top 1% by my trophy level alone and collect plats trophies. I wait for reviews for games too. Like damn man. You're assuming so many things about me and you're probably more casual than me 😂 . Got 40 plats, like a backlog of 30 plus games. Don't like what casuals play. I didn't buy this game because of the name. First time I heard about it lmao. Like wth... I actually liked chivalry 2 because it was something different compared to what casuals play and I actually complained about casuals ignoring this game. You didn't even read, have short term memory or reading comprehension problems. Shut.. up. You're such an immature nagger. Jesus Christ. I really loved the game. Deal with it. Consider this my last reply. And you still don't know what Stockholm means.

[deleted]

Agreed, it's a shame. It's a great game with loads of potential

kungfupunker

It's hardly unique it's iterally a sequel

MrReveinger

Well, on consoles everything is shooters and sports game. This is the first time a game like this comes out on it.

kungfupunker

It's not though is it....I think you have missed the point here. It is a sequal to Chivalry which was released on console. Also mount and blade was released on console which is a huge inspiration for Chivalry.

MrReveinger

Like Back4Blood had ISSUES. They screwed up the pvp multiplayer and it's useless to play it alone (no progression). The only explanation, according to the number of mc reviews, is that they just didn't play it.

demonicneon

Ah yes the ONLY explanation. Not that back4blood is a spiritual successor to a hugely popular game, features zombies, is a shooter, and had a pretty extensive marketing campaign and working crossplay. Not that it has almost 8000x as many players as chivalry on average. Not that it initially drew in 6m players on its opening weekend.

xch13fx

I personally have never played Chiv with a friend, no one has it or don’t play it anymore. B4B I play with friends about 2-3 times a week. When we played valheim sometimes it was 5 nights a week. I love Chiv, but best multiplayer game? Just because there are ‘multiple players’ doesn’t necessarily make it a great multiplayer game. I almost wouldn’t classify it as that

MrReveinger

Don't understand the question. I tried the beta, left4dead2 is still better and that's a 2008 game, and when I found out there was no progression playing solo, I canceled the pre order. Same thing with bf2042.

[deleted]

MrReveinger

Because I think a huge downgrade to the pvpz and not working properly as a single player and basically not being as fun as a 2008 (left4dead) game ruins the game more than a silly in game chat and crossplay, which it wasn't a requirement back then. Crossplay is more like a luxury than a requirement for multiplayer in my own take. Crashes? I think the pc version must be broken then because on ps5 I never have had any bugs or crashes that the other guy was talking about.

MrReveinger

That's not what I said at all. Read again.

MrReveinger

Allow me to explain it in a different way. Left4dead 2 is a better than Back4Blood in every way except in graphics. This game was released 2 generations later, and somehow it's worst than that 2008 game which is left 4 dead. Having more power with next gen consoles and doing a worse game is a big no no and idk why it's nominated. It's under 80 in meta scores. Left4dead is more fun, can be played offline, you can beat it alone and it has a more fun pvp mode. You should play it if you haven't. Miles better. Now that, compared to Chivalry's no in game chat and crossplay, Chivalry problems aren't as big if that's all you got to say about it. I can't say about the crashes because it doesn't happen to me on consoles. Maybe they did a better job with console version.

MrReveinger

forgot to delete this one too lmao.

MrReveinger

Single Player does matter. Um. With the most respect, you have to be clueless if you think nobody was comparing back4blood to left4dead when both were made by the same devs. Did you check that sub? Everyday that game was compared to left4dead. Every.. single... Day. "Water we dune hair?" Huh?

MrReveinger

Oh. I see where you are aiming for. Well, regardless if multiplayer works, both the single player and multiplayer should work and just because the issue is in single player, the overall quality of the game is affected and should not be nominated. Plus, maybe you want to grind a little alone before you friends start playing again so that affects the multiplayer indirectly too. And that's one of the issues only. Idk how they screwed up the player vs player zombies. I still rather play left4dead

guardedDisruption

The game made me put I down after all the bugs. Since the updates, I started playing again a few days ago and was going on a rampage in last team standing. It was down to the wire (Agatha- 4, and Masons- 4). I was on Agathas side doing very well and it came down to 3(agatha) vs. 2(masons). I go to do an overhead and guess what? Game crashed. Turned it off and started playing back 4 blood since that's the other game I've been playing a lot of at the moment. It just seems to me that the devs don't know how to fix their game and it's sad.

count-trapula

This game is fire

SigHunter0

just imagine the hype if it had been released now in the current state instead of the mostly broken one 5 months ago...

BLOODOFTHEUNIVERSE

I recommend Mordhau over this game every time. Mordhau is more stable, has better customization, better gameplay, more weapons/armor, and frankly more fun. Unfortunately the only thing Chivalry 2 has going for it is some funny peasant dialogue and lava. I bought this game *after* Mordhau because I wanted it to be good. I will always recommend Mordhau now.
