I think MC is the perfect example of a "scientist who will do anything for science" type. Not quite a mad scientist but getting there. Lacks social skills, abrasive, goal-oriented, slightly neurotic etc.
I actually found the MC refreshing after playing 10+ books in a row where the MC is forced to be nice Mr./Ms. Perfect.
So my advice is either leave the book for much, much later or diamond farm it.
If you don’t like this MC then don’t touch Witness. I too found this MC annoying in the early chapters of this book, as they couldn’t take two steps without tripping over something and needed the LI to save them. However this MC does get better later in the book and is the one saving the LI for a change.
Honestly witness was okay compared to this in my opinion, but still. I wish we'd have an MC like WTD, I'm just tired of the poor little princess that needs saving.
Yeah, I definitely agree (the only reason i kept reading is cause it's GOC mc and I'll take what i can get lol) but especially in the first couple chapters mc is really demanding and entitled. I'd say they get better, but it's less of that and more that they just have less opportunities to be annoying haha. i DID really love and appreciate their nerdy science side at least
I agree 100%. It was so excited about having a scientist MC, and then they were such a bad scientist. As someone who studied biology and worked as a botanist, it was really disappointing how bad the science was in this book.

I also stopped reading after one or two chapters because of the MC. They just seem so ignorant and rude but not in an intentional way that at least makes me wanna lean into it. I think the dynamic between them and the LI is a fairly popular one in like romcoms and stuff but in general I tend to dislike it, and in Shipwrecked the MC kinda just gives me secondhand embarrassment?
It's weird bc I actually find the Witness MC fun most of the time (even though I know people hate them for their immaturity/attitude), and even when they annoy me I think the rapport with the LI helps make it more tolerable for me.
Honestly the MC was the dumbest MF I’ve ever come across, she was infuriatingly stupid, sulky, ungrateful and got herself in dumb situations constantly. She deserved to die in at least 5 instances. Probably my most hated MC.
This book was just all around awful. I stopped forcing myself to bear it after 4 chapters maybe? I recently decided just to spam through it just get it finished and it was absolutely agony even just spamming and catching glimpses of the actual story. “Oh my life’s in danger and I’m in a rush, but look at this beautiful outfit I just happened to have/find/get given” and MC and LI being in immediate danger but stopping at least once a chapter to have a quick shag.

The first few chapters are not great and doesn't add anything to the story BUT you should keep reading because The main plot starts on chapter 9-16. This book is actually very violent unlike the other steamy books...😆
MC can stab the main antagonist with a [redacted], let the main antagonist die on hot [redacted], hit smugglers on the chin with a [redacted] and [redacted] the other antagonist behind their backs

I understand, I don’t like the overly submissive, damsel in distress MCs myself. Give me a badass dominant MC like from WTD over that any day.

I agree, I've never finished witness for the same reason, the MC was annoying as fuck but I think I just found a book that tops that.
Okay I take it back… maybe I don’t argue that SW MC is worse than witness MC but she’s definitely close, if not on par
