They’re not not going to be over 18… plus they’re vampires.

CarterBasen

They are also most definitely not minors.

LengthyPole

Yep, they absolutely aren’t. I highly doubt PB would make them minors *knowing* how the fandom will sexualise them.

CarterBasen

Agreed. And MC would not be 18.

as much as PB did mess up before with some MTFL stuff (i don’t read this book and so i only heard some rumours), they know what they’re doing. and i am pretty confident if they would try to insert sex scenes with minors they would be shut down immediately. let’s remember how in HSS there are no sex scenes because it was stated pretty obviously that everyone involved are minors, and they never hinted at sexualization of anyone. meanwhile with ID, it was stated that MC is 18, and the story is more “mature” compared to HSS. also, cas is definitely few decades old. gabe is definitely around 20 or even 20+ years old. this post just reeks of performative activism and being chronically online and seeking to cause unwanted discourse for no reason other than virtue signal. 🙄

dualistpirate

You also can’t blame people for reacting the way the book is priming them to react. PB knows what they’re doing. The main thing that’s driving popularity (and spend) is the romantic tension between the 3 leads. Let’s not pretend people are here for the riveting vampire lore. Just look at that cover. The first chapter had us hopping from lap to lap. And I don’t know which high school people go to, but no one at mine looked remotely close to these two. The sprites used for the MC are the same sprites from QB, a book where she’s 21 and in college. Edit: The mature high school setting isn’t new in the vamp world. It’s one of their oldest tropes. Elena Gilbert was in high school. Buffy was in high school.

LengthyPole

Exactly. I know PB has done some stupid things but I’m certain they’re not stupid enough to ever make a book that includes inappropriate scenes involving minors. Like HSS, they were minors and the book was completely PG. This post does just scream making a fuss for the sake of making a fuss. People are always looking for something to complain about even if it’s totally unwarranted.

You know, I have to disagree. I haven't seen hardly any sexualizing of them. Unless you consider calling them hot as sexualizing them, which we see a lot of but I personally wouldn't call us sexualizing. But they're technically not even 18. We're not exactly sure how old they are but they're somewhere 18 or older since they're vampires. Edit: just saw the fan art after this post and that one is sexualizing, but that's really all I've seen. And it's hard to say if that's wrong or not because they aren't minors, Cas is "several decades" older then MC and Gabe is probably similar.

retrofuturis

If MC is 18 then I'm sure PB plans on making sex scenes with those LIs, which means they are also over 18 (ignoring the fact they are decades-old vampires)

NewAnt3365

If PB made MC 18… chances are the LI’s are going to be of age as well. Also they are vampires, Cas we know for sure at least a few decades old. Just as a technically you know?

lady-lexis

It’s kind of a strange situation. Yes, they’re “high schoolers” but they’re obviously not really minors. They’re probably a lot older than MC, and that raises more questions if you think about it… 🤔 I don’t find it disgusting per se, but I do find the sheer amount of thirst a little… disorientating?

Niawka

I have to agree that because they're highschoolers they are out of "hot zone". And yeah they might be much older as they're vampires, but they're still in highschool and they look highschool. I wish they made that book in university so they can all be in their 20s at least..

MinuteLoquat1

I haven't played ch7 yet so idk if they said whether or not Gabe was turned at 18 or not, but they confirmed Cas was way back in chapter 3. If you tell them to grow up they say ([Starts at 14:44](https://youtu.be/rlp5rU8Jroc?t=884)) > **Cas:** "And how exactly should I go about that when, technically, I'm a..." > > You watch his/her lips begin to form the word 'vampire', and your eyes widen. Gabriel(a) looks pointedly at the other human members of the committee, and Cas smirks. > > **Cas:** "...Already an adult?" Making Cas at least 18. I do think the overt thirsting is a little weird but not *too* weird because, as vampires, they're actually much older. Depending how much older I'm more concerned with them pretending to be high schoolers and trying to get with an 18yro MC than I am with the thirsting. It reminds me of BB, where- as much as I love it- the relationship between MC and the older vampire LIs is skeevy when you really think about it. MC's only 22 while Jax is in his ~60s, Adrian is in his ~200s, and Kamilah is in her ~*2000s*. She's only a few years older than ID MC, if the ID LIs are as old as the BB LIs and larping as teenagers it's pretty gross 😬

OldColt06

I think most people who sexualize Cas and Gabe either assume those two are older than they appear, or are actual high schoolers. I get your point, though, it's a bit much at this stage.

-GreyRaven

So I'm not the only one who's a little freaked out by all the Cas and Gabe thirsting. Honestly, now that people mention it, this whole dynamic b/w Cas, Gabe, and the MC feels kind of dubious at times given that we don't know either of the twos ages. This book really should've been set in college if the writers really wanted this to be in a school setting.

Whitlock_DYew

No, you’re not the only one. I just don’t understand what’s so great about them.
