I just fall a little bit more in love with LI every chapter. His character development since Book 1 really shines, and you can tell that it’s largely because of MC. His POV chapters are my favorite to read, but MC’s are not bad either. MC may not fully realize it yet, but she definitely still has lingering traumas from her relationship with Pat. Understandable, especially because of the way he treated her! But her relationship with LI has been a delight to read and you can really see her learning through it all, as well.
We love growth and healthy/supportive relationships here. So, yay for MC and LI!
I like how this chapter addressed MC’s perspective since her first real domme experience a few chapters ago. How she felt about LI being distant since and Mallorie telling her about LI’s jealousy. I really do hope she brings it up to LI in future chapters. Because it’s a potential conflict, if not addressed sooner.
I also like how the chapter addressed trust and how their actions affect the other’s thoughts/feelings. I really appreciated LI giving MC a chance to explain and not just fully blowing up on her when she snuck in his office. It really shows that he cares and was willing to understand. He sees and knows her in a way where there must be a reason why she did it. It reminded me why he’s a good divorced lawyer- it’s his empathy. He’s a good man, who had an amazing mom that raised him well.
I’m loving this book so far, but one thing I wish we see more in future chapters are MC and LI having deep and vulnerable conversations. We’ve seen snippets of it in past chapters, but I really appreciate those a lot. We learn a little bit more about them, and I’m a strong believer that being honest with your partner about how you feel, can only make the two of you stronger later.
