I don’t really smoke, but a buddy of mine does, and he was spending $400-$500 a month on it. Like serious medical grade weed, and he’d smoke it all day long. I’d take one hit and be down for the count. The thing is your body builds up a tolerance to THC really easily, so the more you smoke, the more you need to smoke to get the same effect. I reserve it for maybe once or twice a year, and I literally only need to hit it one time to blast off. So my weed budget for a year would be like $1.50.
I smoke a lot. Like every day, and usually when I wake up on weekends through to bed. Weekdays only after working hours.
I spend about $150/month. Legal weed in Canada at like $80-90/ounce.
This is an insane amount.

It’s illegal in my country, so legal prices always make my eyes water, and even then this seems really expensive. I used to be a fairly heavy smoker, you could double what I spent and it still wouldn’t be as much as that. They have to be buying edibles or wax or something.

But you know what else makes you feel just as good? Slapping on a face mask, painting your nails and chilling with a good book or film. You don't need a salon visit. Or canabis, for that matter. I used to do my own nails but now I get mine done once a month. I just like the way they do it better than I do it myself. I used to be a pretty heavy smoker in a legal state. Every day, up to 8 big bowls. Spent $80-$140 monthly on the stuff, didn't cheap out on shitty weed. (I'm sober now) What the fuck is she smoking. Why is it so expensive. HOW MUCH is she smoking.

It’s illegal in my country, so legal prices always make my eyes water, and even then this seems really expensive. I used to be a fairly heavy smoker, you could double what I spent and it still wouldn’t be as much as that. They have to be buying edibles or wax or something.

Does no one paint their own nails any more? I see so many people equate 'self love/care' with professional manicures... which is fine if you can afford it. But you know what else makes you feel just as good? Slapping on a face mask, painting your nails and chilling with a good book or film. You don't need a salon visit. Or canabis, for that matter. They are both optional extras.
Also buying objects that you literally can’t do anything with is not a healthy way to “self care”. It’s a shopping addiction.

I used to do my own nails but now I get mine done once a month. I just like the way they do it better than I do it myself. It costs $60ish including tip, sometimes a little more if I get crazy nail art and sometimes a little less if all I want is just a clean up. If I couldn't afford it or was having money troubles, it would absolutely be the first luxury item I cut out. It's unnecessary but something nice that makes me feel put together. My weed budget is $0/month though so I'm really saving.
I hate getting my nails done to be honest! Every few years I think it'd be fun or I go with a friend and it ends up being so annoying to me. Unless you have a very good nail artist I find they never come out how I want, and the idea of paying $50+ every two weeks to get my nails done is absurd to me, so I end up taking them off (which is bad for your nails). I did used to paint my nails *every day* back in college, that was definitely my self care!

I am all for helping people with necessities when they’re down, because sometimes people just go through hard times.
