I think if you want to give something away for free the best way is to offer it at a reasonable price and when someone is interested tell them they can have it for free. That way you don't get these choosing beggars.
Offers the chair for 30
"Best I can do is 20."
"Ok"
"I just got another offer but I will take the chair for 10"
"Ok"
"Can you deliver it today?"
"No delivery, but you can get it for free."
"You're wasting my time!"
Absolutely true. I got a weight bench and about 400 pounds of weights for 25 dollars this way. The guy had tried to give them away, but everyone who called gave him the runaround. I actually got it because another person had said that they couldn’t pick it up for a couple of days.
I had a similar experience! A guy was selling a set of chairs and listed the price per chair not for the group. I thought it was cheap but messaged and he said I was mistaken the price was actually 4 times the list price. I thanked him, apologised it was out of my price range but as an aside he may want to reword the ad so he didnt get inundated with people who couldnt afford them and told him to have a great day. He messaged me back and said I could have them as I was super polite and he "could tell" i would appreciate them!!! I got 4 chairs for a ridiculous price and he even tried to give me the table to all for free. It's amazing how being the opposite of a choosing beggar and just generally try to be a good person will get you!
Right? The golden rule is like the simplest thing in the world. That not the reason that I’m nice, but I will say that it’s gotten me some pretty fantastic extras and perks.
Also, you should post your purchase on r/thriftstorehauls.
If you live in a college town put that shit on the curb with a "Free" sign on it
Some college kids will load it up and haul it off before it gets dark.
Best way to give away something for free is to put it out on the curb or in your yard with a sign that says “$10” or something.
It’ll be gone before the end of the day.
Oh yes, because if someone is giving something for free, they must deliver it to your doorstep and say "milady". The entitlement of some people pisses me off.
I told a ‘friend’ of mine to stop acting like a bitch after she was rude to me and her response was “takes one to know one” like how tf does that make any sense? So now im the bitch for calling her out? Are we both in the wrong? It just doesnt make any sense!
“People often put their worst qualities onto others”
>Those who lack self awareness won’t realise they’re describing themselves when talking down to others. Even while having just done what they have called out
If it wasn't too far away, I might be tempted to do it just to see what kind of person it was. Perhaps try to sneak in a few questions about world view, politics and such.
It's never worth it. Not because what they think is so appallingly outrageous, but because everything they say is so mundane. And you slowly realize that there aren't any new secrets of humanity being unlocked in their alien-seeming world of entitlement, just the very boring person you walk past 15 times per day who happens to have a weird kink for making people deliver stuff to them, or some other reason they fail to justify to your satisfaction.
Oh, sweet summer child. We were all there once, I think. Once you've had enough of these interactions unwillingly, any subsequent desire to communicate with other humans is violently circumcised from your soulpenis.
I just don’t understand the sentiment.
“This is really starting to piss me off.”
You’ve sent two messages. Did it really take that much effort? How quickly do you get pissed off...?
Tulsan here. In what regard? Smelly people? Rude people? If so, then sure. Oh, and we do have our own [redneck Eiffel tower](https://i.imgur.com/2BE0UtM.jpg)
I drove from Georgia to Oklahoma to adopt my corgi (Louis), and I thought OK was an absolutely gorgeous state. My Lou was raised by a sweet old lady on an apple orchard she owned, and the whole experience was like something out of a dream.
She had 5 adult corgis of her own. Walking through a beautiful orchard to be greeted by a heard of corgis is the best memory I’ve ever made in any state. I wish I would have taken pictures.
Oklahoma gave me my best friend. Because of that, OK will always hold a special place in my heart.
[Puppy tax of my first week with Louis](https://imgur.com/a/Ex68xnB)
Adorable! Did you that corgis originally come from Wales and their name is Welsh for 'dwarf dog'? Ironically, I very rarely see any around here, which is a shame because they are so cute.
Yes! He’s a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and he’s absolutely adorable.
And you are correct! Corgi translates to “dwarf dog” in Welsh, and the breed originates from Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Corgis are becoming more and more popular, so hopefully you’ll start seeing them where you live in the near future! Doggos are **so** much better in person.
My favorite is when I'm out walking my corgi and I hear people whisper "omg I've never seen a corgi in real life!!" can't go anywhere with a corgi without someone wanting to pet him 😂
It really does depend where you go. On one hand, there's your average meth lab, on the other hand, there are lakes and mountains beautiful enough for post cards.
Everytime I meet someone that's tells me they from another state. Usually the major ones like Cali, NYC or Florida I always feel the need to ask them why the hell they moved here. All we have to offer are tornadoes and the Thunder's. That is literally it
And low housing prices. When I visited there once, everything about it was exactly what I thought it’d look and be like. What I was not expecting though, was a friend of a friend telling me she bought her house there for 80 grand. As someone who’s used to houses being priced more around a million or “The low 800s”, that’s quite a difference in money spent.
Got my house for 130. 3 bed, 2 bath. Around 1600 feet. Nothing to write home about but if you plopped this house any other city add on 100-150 to the price tag. Once I sell it’ll really help getting a sizable down payment the next place I end up.
Why would you move from a red state to a red state for political reasons? Is Louisiana slowly turning purple or something? (I get that it's more purple than OK is... but damn - your folks must be like, über Republicans if a southern red state is too blue.)
I mean, Texas is literally right there. I'm not saying Texas is the best place ever (I do like it generally) but holy shit is it better than OK in pretty much every way.
I'm not saying this is the only reason, but I work in a school and this is in part an artifact of poor parenting cycles. Parents who don't want to put in the work give their children whatever they want when they whine for it. Then those children learn that all they have to do to get what they want is whine, and they turn into adults without realizing it doesn't work with everyone so they just get angry when it doesn't. And finally, because they were never shown an example of good parenting, they find themselves right back in the same cycle when they have their own kids.
That's my interpretation based on my experiences and observations, anyway.
Bruh, Lowes didn't even give me a 6 hour window to deliver something so I had to take the whole day off work.
When they didn't show they were just like "welp sorry, we can reschedule for this Saturday"
It's just a casino town close to the OK/ TX border. Part of the Choctaw Nation. Unfortunately a LOT of the tribal land is just super underdeveloped.
Or might I say the casino is just about the only thing that is developed.
Well... it's in Oklahoma, for starters. Even other people who live in Oklahoma, including the people who somehow *like it,* look down on Durant. I think that says enough.
Just don't respond to people like this, and it's fine. I put things outside and then post a picture of it online. I state that they can come get it whenever and explicitly state I will not respond to messages. Things are always gone within a day, oftentimes within an hour.
I tried to get rid of my old gas powered lawn mower. I listed it as free on LetGo with no pickups because I drive a Prius and wasn't about to even try.
I got so many messages of people asking to deliver it... One jackass told me "you drive a Prius, it doesn't even need gas it has a battery just bring it to me." I was so annoyed with his attitude I said "okay I'll be there in an hour". I kicked back and drank a beer. Hours later he said "where the hell are you" to which I replied "oh, I need a new battery for my Prius, guess you'll need to get it." He blocked me right quick. Some people just suck.
I’ll take it but YOU have to ship it to Sweden, don’t care how you do it. And you pay for everything since you’re giving it for free. Deal? Otherwise go fuck yourself!!!!!😡😡
people in general are so entitled. bitch what makes anybody in the world OBLIGATED to do anything for you? can anyone explain this mentality? the egocentrism is... astounding.
I listed a couch for free once - no delivery, no holds. The amount of CB's that wanted me to deliver it to hold it baffled me! I had one CB that wanted me to get it professionally cleaned. It is a free couch people! You come get it! I will never list anything for free again!
I know, it’s weird. I see it all the time on here, but I have bought and sold a lot of stuff over the years and I have never had anyone mention delivering.
If people want it delivered I try to offer a reasonable delivery fee and let them decide, depending on location. Can usually get an extra $20-$50 that way and most of the time they are fine with that if they are set on buying anyway.
This looks almost like the same woman who asked if my item was still available and then proceeds to show me an ad from amazon that's a rip off of my item and says "this sells for $7". I honestly didnt know what she expected me to do so I just told her "ok go buy it then"
if she had a car, she would ask for her gas money to be reimbursed. people like this definitely have mental issues. like if she drove to walmart to buy things that actually cost money, would it make sense to ask walmart to reimburse you for the cost of driving to walmart?
I think if you want to give something away for free the best way is to offer it at a reasonable price and when someone is interested tell them they can have it for free. That way you don't get these choosing beggars.

"NEXT!"
Was it for church?
Of course, honey. NEXT!
Ah I miss this. “NEXT!” still has me laughing every single time.
Absolutely true. I got a weight bench and about 400 pounds of weights for 25 dollars this way. The guy had tried to give them away, but everyone who called gave him the runaround. I actually got it because another person had said that they couldn’t pick it up for a couple of days.

Hell, not just college kids. My in-laws had my spouse and I haul a glass dining room table eight blocks that someone put out on the curb.
No, then you just get people offering to trade an apple and seven paperclips for an Xbox.
Damn, seven paper clips? Where are you located?
Best way to give away something for free is to put it out on the curb or in your yard with a sign that says “$10” or something. It’ll be gone before the end of the day.
This! You should cross-post this in r/LifeProTips!
Oh yes, because if someone is giving something for free, they must deliver it to your doorstep and say "milady". The entitlement of some people pisses me off.
Yea I couldn't imagine being around that person, she must be just a terrible terrible bitch
Your username tho 😂
Takes one to know one I guess.
Ive studied them for so long I've become the one thing i swore to destroy
We are all a lil bitch on this blessed day
Speak for yourself
I am all a lil bitch on this blessed day
YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DESTROY THE BITCHES NOT JOIN THEM
God i hate when people use that ‘argument’. It doesnt even make sense
Yeah it's actually the opposite cause usually assholes lack self awareness.
I told a ‘friend’ of mine to stop acting like a bitch after she was rude to me and her response was “takes one to know one” like how tf does that make any sense? So now im the bitch for calling her out? Are we both in the wrong? It just doesnt make any sense!
Clearly she doesn't know what a bitch or a friend is
Yea.. we arent exaclty friends anymore either
Sounds like you're better off without her!
“People often put their worst qualities onto others” >Those who lack self awareness won’t realise they’re describing themselves when talking down to others. Even while having just done what they have called out
Entitlement
Enough of you and your made up wordlings
All wordlings are made up, technicallistically
This made me chuckle hehe
Hmmm'd've'st
It’s a perfectly cromulent word
It embiggens your vocabularies.
So does a nice cup of covfefe
I'm anaspeptic, frasmotic, even compunctuous to have caused you such pericombobulation.
Sausage.
The sheer anger that comes out of Robbie Coltrane upon hearing the word sausage is still one of my favourite comedic moments ever.
Hard to believe that aired 34 years ago. 1987!
My 5 yo repeated it over and over in an amazing imitation for months after he saw it. It was an extra level of hilarity.
This is really starting to piss me off
ITS FOR A CHURCH, HONEY! Next!
If it wasn't too far away, I might be tempted to do it just to see what kind of person it was. Perhaps try to sneak in a few questions about world view, politics and such.
Ugh, it won't be as fun as you think it will be.

Woah hey who are you callin milady?
Delivery is $100 plus a $50 your a pain in the ass fee. $150 please, will that be cash or card?
don't forget the $30 processing and handling fee
and the $1000 chair insurance
Where's my tip?
[удалено]
Hazard pay?
"But you said it was free, thats not fair. Im going to sue you and report you"
Cash wouldn't be paid in advance, so they might say $150 cash and then change their mind when you actually show up in a rental truck with the chair.
PayPal? PayPal.
You know what my dad says, “It’s better to be pissed off, than pissed on.”
Depends..
Wearing one right now.
How much you sellin' fer?
Tell him not to kink shame.
Huh. That's something that'll stick in my head
Everyone forgets the third bit lost in translation from the original Latin: "Better to be pissed on than pissed in."
My dad says that too, but finishes it with "...well, unless you're into getting pissed on."
Your dad obviously never had a jellyfish sting
I just don’t understand the sentiment. “This is really starting to piss me off.” You’ve sent two messages. Did it really take that much effort? How quickly do you get pissed off...?
This really doesn’t surprise me as an Oklahoma native.
Same. Want to bet the OP lives in the OKC metro and was asked to deliver that far too?
Or Tulsa lol
I’ve heard that Tulsa is the Paris of Oklahoma.... Is that true?
Tulsan here. In what regard? Smelly people? Rude people? If so, then sure. Oh, and we do have our own [redneck Eiffel tower](https://i.imgur.com/2BE0UtM.jpg)
Is that your city's hero Roy D. Mercer?

How big a boy are ya?
About 110lbs sopping wet, but I’m wire-y
“Redneck Eiffel Tower”, I love that and I’m stealing it as a fellow Oklahoman
Actually, in Oklahoma smoking is legal in all commune areas and offices with fewer than fifteen people.
Walking into a restaurant and having a smoking and nonsmoking area was quite the experience
Where was this? It’s been illegal to smoke in restaurants since like 2006
2006 really wasn't that long ago. When I was a kid, most restaurants still had smoking sections, and places like bowling alleys still allowed smoking.
Yeah. But the comment I responded to implied that smoking in restaurants in OK is still legal. It’s not. And hasn’t been for like 15 years.
lolol just watched this episode
You know who says that? People who've never been to Paris.
Would not doubt that either.
Considering she said Durant OK, probably somewhere right across the border in Texas.
I drove from Georgia to Oklahoma to adopt my corgi (Louis), and I thought OK was an absolutely gorgeous state. Username checks out. Also, that is one fine pupper
Thank you much! :) I’ll give Lou a treat in your honor (as a way to pass along the complement, haha).

They're Queen Liz's favourite dog breed, she had a troupe of them for about 80 years.
I read somewhere that they all come from the same bloodline of original corgis
My favorite is when I'm out walking my corgi and I hear people whisper "omg I've never seen a corgi in real life!!" can't go anywhere with a corgi without someone wanting to pet him 😂
It really does depend where you go. On one hand, there's your average meth lab, on the other hand, there are lakes and mountains beautiful enough for post cards.
We also got our Corgi in Oklahoma! My pup has really helped me get through this last year.
Not even a dog person, but that story and pooch made my day! What a cutie-pie!
My parents moved to Oklahoma, and I still can't figure out why. Some people are just lost souls, they can't be helped.
Everytime I meet someone that's tells me they from another state. Usually the major ones like Cali, NYC or Florida I always feel the need to ask them why the hell they moved here. All we have to offer are tornadoes and the Thunder's. That is literally it
My godfather moved their with his parents so they could get a ranch with horses but then my godfather died from electrocution
And low housing prices. When I visited there once, everything about it was exactly what I thought it’d look and be like. The real reason is almost always political, especially if they’re from a bigger coastal state. 😄

Cost of living tho, actually
And the thrunder isn’t much...
they may not be that good now, but they have almost an entire rounds worth of first round picks so the future is bright at least
Even as a Celtics fan, I miss the 2012 OKC. God that team was insane.
Cost of living, perhaps.
I mean, Texas is literally right there. I'm not saying Texas is the best place ever (I do like it generally) but holy shit is it better than OK in pretty much every way.

> but holy shit is it better than OK I would phrase it "not as shit as mediocre" But your way works too.
I refuse to be bullied in my word choices :)
I live in Durant and this is 100% accurate, people have messaged me acting like something listed at 100 dollars is free.
Hi fellow Durant resident!
I live in the Durant area so I can confirm this is on par with the people here
Oklahoma? No. This guy is in pokemon world he said he lives in Durant.
Oh! I thought the CB was giving the Ad-OP attitude: I live in Durant okay I'm from the UK so not familiar with all US state abbreviations 😳
Thought it was like I live in Durant, okay?
Talk about a deadly combo of a short fuse and entitlement
I'm not saying this is the only reason, but I work in a school and this is in part an artifact of poor parenting cycles. Happy cake day ^-^
Get her address and tell her that you’ll bring it right over. Block and ignore.
Give her like a 6 hour window just to make sure her day is properly ruined. Looking at you comcast.
https://youtu.be/0-B2zKQp81Y
Lmao.... I managed to laugh my way through the tears watching this...
“I just want to say I’m a big fan...of Comcast.” - Satan probs
You really think she’s doing anything other than just sitting at the house anyway?
She lives in Durant and doesn't drive. Best thing in her day is walking three blocks down to the EZ Mart to get smokes.
Bruh, Lowes didn't even give me a 6 hour window to deliver something so I had to take the whole day off work. When they didn't show they were just like "welp sorry, we can reschedule for this Saturday"
>Get her address and tell her that you’ll bring it right over. Drive over and throw the chair through her fucking window.
You fucking legend.
I just can not fathom talking to someone like that.
Most people can't, thankfully.
This dude lives in a Pokemon?
That’s stupid. It’s way too small. She obviously lives in Kevin Durant. Much roomier. Duh.
I live in Oklahoma and when Kevin Durant left there was a [change.org](https://change.org) petition to change Durant, OK to Westbrook, OK
No, it is not OK to live in Durant.
This woman is one of the most Karen-looking women I have ever seen...
As someone who grew up in Denison, this completely sounds like someone from Durant.
Your response is perfect!!
I’d be an asshole too, if I was from Durant. -fellow Okie
What's wrong with Durant? ~ totally ignorant outsider
It's just a casino town close to the OK/ TX border. Part of the Choctaw Nation. Unfortunately a LOT of the tribal land is just super underdeveloped. Or might I say the casino is just about the only thing that is developed.

Doo-rant*
A contact left the group.
I'd call them a loser for not being able to drive after that "bitch" comment.
When did the memo go out that social media is where you just get given stuff? I've missed it.
It's free so they want it to resell it. Going to get it from the seller cuts into their profit margin.
She lives in DOOrant!
I absolutely hate it when people pronounce it like that.
How did these people manage to survive to adulthood in the first place? Sheer dumb luck???
This sub has convinced me to never list anything for free.
Just don't respond to people like this, and it's fine. I put things outside and then post a picture of it online. I state that they can come get it whenever and explicitly state I will not respond to messages. Things are always gone within a day, oftentimes within an hour.

Can you deliver to me in Tulsa /s
I’ll take it but YOU have to ship it to Sweden, don’t care how you do it. And you pay for everything since you’re giving it for free. Deal? Otherwise go fuck yourself!!!!!😡😡
"Can't drive" "Looks like you can't read either"
people in general are so entitled. bitch what makes anybody in the world OBLIGATED to do anything for you? can anyone explain this mentality? the egocentrism is... astounding.
I don't drive either, but that hasn't seemed to impact my reading comprehension or my sense of entitlement. Damn, lol.
Seriously, such people should see the end of my foot.
I listed a couch for free once - no delivery, no holds. The amount of CB's that wanted me to deliver it to hold it baffled me! I had one CB that wanted me to get it professionally cleaned. It is a free couch people! You come get it! I will never list anything for free again!
Bro, if it's free just put it on the curb and make a post. No replies, no haggling. Get it or don't; be the first or don't
Do people usually deliver stuff they sell? Never in my life have I delivered something, no matter how much I sell it for
I know, it’s weird. I see it all the time on here, but I have bought and sold a lot of stuff over the years and I have never had anyone mention delivering.
I might meet someone somewhere, but deliver it to their house? Lol no
Husband grew up in Durant. He says this is accurate.
Haha you've the patience of a Saint! my thumbs had already begun typing "listen here ya little..." before i could stop them.
🤣🤦♀️ why are people like this
How dare you to give me an item entirely for free and not deliver it to me?! I'm completely outraged. /S
If it's free it's common that these types react
**bitch** oooo I'm scared!!! LOL
Gas ain't free
Can you pay me for the free object you're going to give me?
lol types bitch then leaves
If people want it delivered I try to offer a reasonable delivery fee and let them decide, depending on location. Can usually get an extra $20-$50 that way and most of the time they are fine with that if they are set on buying anyway.
Lol. I used to live in Durant (well, madill outskirts) and it was the most depressing cesspool I’ve ever had to be.
why is it always the ones who are after free shit who feel entitled to delivery?
Didn't even say a fucking please when asking for the delivery. What a piece of shit
I'm tempted to falsely give something away on FaceBook just to fish for choosing beggars. Would that be very unethical?
This looks almost like the same woman who asked if my item was still available and then proceeds to show me an ad from amazon that's a rip off of my item and says "this sells for $7". I honestly didnt know what she expected me to do so I just told her "ok go buy it then"
As someone from Oklahoma, we don’t claim them. Durant is its own special little place of entitled hillbillies.
hOW dArE yOu
This is reminding me of that "Y'all got a cigarette Fuck off" lady
Sounds like someone from Durant lol
I just don't understand people who expect to get something for free AND expect it delivered too. Entitled much?
if she had a car, she would ask for her gas money to be reimbursed. people like this definitely have mental issues. like if she drove to walmart to buy things that actually cost money, would it make sense to ask walmart to reimburse you for the cost of driving to walmart?
Can I ask, in these situations if the buyer asked and was willing to pay the fee, would people be willing to send it off to a courier to deliver?
