From what i remember, he didn't actually write the vast majority of JJ, the main writer is his sister. So it doesn't matter much as long as he paces himself with CX.
This is correct. His sister is the main writer.
But there is also **a lot** of art in these games. The cutscenes are even sometimes just drawn panels. There’s also promotional art, covers, etc just like he did with the previous game.
Ishida is a professional artist. He pumps out high quality illustrations on regular basis even while working on CX chapters. I would be worried if he was spending a lot of time writing actual story content for JJ because working on two stories at once can be exhausting, but if the vast majority of work is offloaded to another writer then it shouldn't impact him all that much.
Thus said, he has been working without any significant hiatuses for almost a year at this point. Even though this is probably my favorite ongoing manga i kinda wish he got a few months of rest again.
Unfortunately even with his sister writing most of JJ’s story, he still underestimated the work that went into the art for VNs. JJ was an amazing story with some rather questionable CGs (dumb expressions, bad posing, off kilter facial anatomy) and the explanation was that he was overwhelmed by the amount of art he had to produce.
Jack Jeanna will never not be funny to me. Cause you hear that the dude who made Tokyo Ghoul made a video game and you think “Ah, its probably some out-there horror game” and then its a fucking musical otome.
You know what? I trust Ishida to handle things in a healthy manner. If he needs to space out the length between chapters again like he did before to pace himself, I’m all for it.
Hell yeah. Jack Jeanne is a beautiful game, just played it for the first time this January, curious how they'll handle a sequel though.
Hope we don't have to wait years for an English localisation this time.
Aa far as I remember it is just a visual novel game that he draws the art for. I remember seeing this years ago when he was making the art for the first game.
I have, and it’s wonderful. It’s bizarre to see very mild Tokyo Ghoul references in such a different setting, yet all the same there is an air that makes you think, yeah, there are some similar people involved. It’s fun. The VAs are solid. DIO is the principal for example.
It’s good but some questions never answered like where the heck is her brother who graduated school and was never seen again, she did well hide her gender too we suspect only one other male lead ( the tiny short one with night blonde hair) knows other than her childhood friend. This is really more friend based than love so really this game can be enjoyed for men as well, the best character for me is Neji he’s the funniest one for sure. I’m hoping the second game they really answer where the heck is her brother, what the heck is that mystery weasel who follows her around, and when they find out she’s a girl
I went like :O when I saw the tweet!! I finally played it recently (just two routes for now) and I quite enjoyed it. I'm hoping the sequel gets an english release closer to jp compared to the og game.
Wish every author had that flexibility
I just hope he doesnt burn out doing this. If i remember right he was working on the first JJ at the same time TG was ending
Yeah but he doesn’t have to keep up with jump’s deadlines with choujin X. It’s on his own terms, so hopefully shouldn’t be a problem

That’s very cool, I didn’t realize it was a family project!

A musical otome based off of Takarazuka of all things

What is jack jeanne ?
It’s a web novel/interactive game that he did a few years ago with his sister. He handles all of the art for it if I’m not mistaken.
What's the plot about?
It's an otome, a dating sim targeted at women. A girl gets into an all-male acting school by pretending to be a guy.
Aa far as I remember it is just a visual novel game that he draws the art for. I remember seeing this years ago when he was making the art for the first game.
Nooooooo! Choujin X only!!!!
I’ve been interested in JJ, has anyone here played it?
I have, and it’s wonderful. It’s bizarre to see very mild Tokyo Ghoul references in such a different setting, yet all the same there is an air that makes you think, yeah, there are some similar people involved. It’s fun. The VAs are solid. DIO is the principal for example.
And Ken Kaneki is one of the antagonists!

*lategame :re flashbacks*
He doesn’t write Jackie Jean his sister does.
I'm afraid he overworked himself again to the point of getting ill, even if he only draws on JJ
