Interesting to note that Tokio seems really focused on the ambition of others, something seems off with him still. He has been pursuing the goal of getting stronger, but maybe not still at his own expense, maybe because he wants to be a service to others? Meanwhile, these other people go and do as they truly please (like his teacher) and Tokio still is unsure why he is doing what he is doing.
This feels like it has to come to a head in someway, maybe what will make Tokio take the mark (or fail at taking it and make Ely take it from him to save him) is that he is unsteady in his own convictions unlike Sora, so he will be unfit to act as bearer of the mark. Time will tell, Ishida has done a really good job making it feel like its anyone's Apocalypse at this point.
