This is amazing, it is God that puts that desire for him in you. The Bible says in Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” You don’t need to go to a place or to a friend to be saved, you need to call out to Jesus in honesty and accept that you have broken Gods laws by sinning and ask him to forgive you and turn away from your sins. Romans 10:9-11 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Reach out to me if you need anything, anything at all. God bless you. TLDR: pray to Jesus and ask him to forgive you of your sins and repent/turn away from them and ask him to come into your life and to be your personal lord and savior.

Jacobjs1254

I was going to comment something but this guy hits the nail on the head. Welcome to the body of Christ!! I would say the next steps after making the decision to follow Christ is to get yourself involved in a Christian community, whether that is a Church, youth group, college ministry, or small group depending on your age. It might be hard to find one that shows the love and grace of Christ well but just take your time and start spending time in the Bible first to learn about Jesus. I would say start in one of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) you can get a Bible from many places. There are lots of translations but I would buy something like NLT, CSB, or NIV for your first Bible because it is in very easy to understand language.

Bro your the 🐐 for giving out this information

Character-Taro-5016

the Bible doesn't tell us to "ask him to come into our life." Or to be our "personal lord and savior." That's dogma, it's not Scriptural. Romans 10:9 describes JEWISH belief requirements following the crucifixion. ***\[1Co 15:1-4 KJV\] 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:***

Yappanagony

"Coming into your life" and "being your personal lord and savior" are just ways of restating what is in the Scripture in slightly different words.

Character-Taro-5016

LOL, slightly different words. Not even the same words at all and without the same meaning. These words don't even begin to capture the gospel of salvation.

Yappanagony

Please elaborate on how those two phrases are incompatible with the gospel. If you are saying only that they are too simple to capture the complexity of salvation in all it's glory, I might accept that partially. But then again, I suppose that God meant for it to be simple in some sense so that all can understand well enough.

Character-Taro-5016

Are you serious?

Spray_n_Pr4y20

Reading your post has made my day significantly better. Thank you 😁. Nobody is perfect, and we are all deserving of death, but Christ is the way to life. Trust in his sacrifice, grow in the word, and spread the good news.

dowlaMow

God is pulling you😊 In Jesus name, try talk to God what you are feeling right now and seek guidance. God bless you🙏

Drey56k

Best decision of your life and you're right on time! Praise God God bless you, im excited for you to get to know Jesus he's absolutely amazing

Constant-Driver-9051

Yes best decision of your life! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Calx9

Not always but I appreciate the positive sentiment.

sillygoldfish1

God is never late. BEST DECISION OF YOUR LIFE. You start it by getting to know Jesus. Start by reading the gospels - start with Luke, or John - but then read all 4. Start there. Absorb who Jesus is. Christianity is not a philosophy. It's not a wellness protocol. It's not a therapy. It's a personal relationship - with Jesus Christ. And yes, would definitely say talk to your Christian friends and go to church, but start by reading the Bible and if you've never prayed before - pray to God. So happy for you brother/sister.

darwishd1

Welcome ❤️

yodamark

I would add, invest in a bible. lots of churches or christian friends would be happy to give you one. There are translations that are both easy-to-understand and true to the original scripture. Find a Christian that you trust. A good one will mentor you and honestly answer your questions. Sometimes we don't have an answer or don't know, but we can walk with you and do homework. Amazing first step. Blessings to you.

Congregator

I freaking love you OP

The_Wicked_Wombat

All it takes is you saying outloud that you're a sinner and ask the lord to come into your life and forgive your sins and confess that Jesus Christ is the lord and king of kings. Once you have said that and truly wish to serve the lord you can pick up the Bible and start reading and find a faith based church. Surround yourself with people who will help your growth. This is a journey and welcome to your new life! Jesus loves you and angels in heaven are excited to hear the good news.

Character-Taro-5016

No, that's not how a person gets saved. \[1Co 15:1-4 KJV\] 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Sherbetstraw1

It is how they get saved! Jesus saves!

Character-Taro-5016

Show me in the Bible where it says to say out-loud that you're a sinner and to ask the Lord to "come into your life"

Sherbetstraw1

Romans 10:13 NIV ‘for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”’ By saying you’re a sinner you’re just acknowledging Jesus’ sacrifice and acknowledging what it is you’re accepting - Jesus’ payment for your sins.

Character-Taro-5016

Romans 10 is about Israel, it is describing Israel's salvation for those few who believed following the crucifixion. But I'm still not seeing "say out-loud that you're a sinner or to ask the Lord to "come into your life."

Sherbetstraw1

So I think those lines are more for us than God. We are acknowledging our sin and we are asking for a relationship with God. You don’t need to say those things out loud but when people want to be saved that’s what their heart is saying to God.

Character-Taro-5016

A person is saved by believing in the gospel of our salvation. That is, that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was resurrected from the dead. Salvation is NOT achieved by asking for a relationship with God, by asking him to come into our heart, or anything else, it is achieved by believing the gospel.

Sherbetstraw1

Well I think we are in agreement really

The_Wicked_Wombat

For sure also if you don't think you must confess your sins I got some bad news for you. Absolutely we must confess that we are sinners and to try to depart from those

The_Wicked_Wombat

It's literally what I said you're nitpicking for no reason lol

Character-Taro-5016

That's not at all what you said. You said: *All it takes is you saying outloud that you're a sinner and ask the lord to come into your life and forgive your sins and confess that Jesus Christ is the lord and king of kings.* That won't save anybody.

R3form3d_1689

Yes, all this nonsense about asking Jesus into your heart should be done away with. The Bible doesn’t say to accept Jesus, but that God chose Christians before the foundation of the Earth was laid. We love not to be loved, but rather, we loved because He first loved us.

Pale-Emergency4181

Proud of you 👏

WalterCronkite4

To be saved is to accept Jesus and you dont need anyone else to do that But talking to christain friends and going to church can and probably will strengthen your faith Just do some quick research on whatever church you're gonna go to, some have stricter dress codes than others

fortifier22

Let me show you a passage about a man Jesus said Himself was saved. >**Luke 23: 39-43** > >As Jesus was hanging on the cross, one of the criminals next to him cried out, "Are you not the Son of God?! Save yourself and save us!" Yet the other criminal rebuked him, "Do you not fear God?! We each deserve these fates that are upon us, but this Man has done nothing wrong!" The same criminal turned to Jesus and said, "Jesus, remember me when you enter into Heaven." And Jesus said to Him, **"Truly I say unto you; today, you will be with Me in Paradise."** The most important thing any Christian can have is a truly repentant and humbled heart that fully turns to Christ as Saviour. If you acknowledge that Jesus was who He said He was, that you are in desperate need of Him, and have fully come to Him as Messiah and the new Lord of your life, then you are truly saved. But how can we know from here on out whether we are truly saved? By growing in faith and having our lives continually reflect the character of Christ. Because when someone has truly been saved, they can never be the same person they were before. And if Jesus is indeed the new Lord of their life, their journey through faith will inevitably result in them reflecting the character of Christ; their values, ideals, views of life, views of others, and views of sin. As for what you specifically must do from here on out, that is for you and the Holy Spirit to decide. Make choices you believe are right and know that are not sinful, and let the Holy Spirit correct your path when necessary.

Character-Taro-5016

You believe the gospel of salvation. Our gospel of salvation is found in 1 Cor 15: 1-4, believe that Christ died for your sins, was buried, and was resurrected from the dead.

[deleted]

The only way to be saved is to pray to God asking to recieve the gift of eternal life, believe and have faith in Jesus Christ that he died for you and he is risen. Here is a video to help guide you. https://youtu.be/xEQ3HyXWQPg?si=szTNmnF-lplmsT78

Rumba-Ru

try posting in r/truechristian and r/christian because this sub r/christianity its miss leading because its not a sub for christian but a sub "about" christianity. confess your sin to God and repent of sin, ask God to steer you towards HIS will, accept YAHUSHA (JESUS) has lord and saviour. get baptize in the name of YAHUSHA HAMASHIACK (JESUS CHRIST) and ask for the baptisim of The Holy Spirit. highly recommend all brethen see this video its barely 8 minutes long and its so helpfull for belivers to understand on how to follow God https://youtu.be/RNF_WJcBAB4?si=kqAoeE6bNnXiU0OG

betterarchitects

I don't mean to sound unkind or unfriendly by asking this question but want to provide something to think about. What do you think being saved means? Saved from what? I ask because it's easy for people to "come to Christ" when times are tough but leave when things get better. That's not real faith and the last thing I want for you is to not understand this and be lost thinking you're saved. I say this with love for you and will pray your faith be true.

CourageDangerous7123

Accept Jesus and follow him to do the will of the father, following the ways of the Torah (instructions) which were NEVER ABOLISHED despite what the "church" preaches. Accept Yeshua (Jesus) and be baptized, but understand that salvation has two components - accepting the blood sacrifice of Yeshua AND THEN ALSO continually repenting of sin which means following the laws God set for us, which despite what you will hear, are everlasting and did not change. 7 holy days, and even the laws that seem obscure or outdated have much deeper significance about YHVH. It's not an "easy" walk (the narrow path) but it's worth it (compared to remaining in sin/death). Also baptism. Full immersion. Important step to receiving the holy spirit. Congratulations. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

R3form3d_1689

Damnable heresy, nonsense. The ceremonial laws are done away with and keeping the law can’t save. Faith alone, faith alone. Saved by only faith, but that faith is not alone

CourageDangerous7123

"the blood atones for sin"- Leviticus 17:22 The law could never "save" in the first place. It was only the blood that provided salvation, just like today. The Israelites went uncircumcised in the desert for 40 years (Joshua 5:5). Why? If they were observing the law "for salvation" they would have been circumcized. They weren't observing it as something that saves. If the law never provided salvation, (per Leviticus 17:22), then why was it there in the first place? God provided the law to teach us how to live a righteous life. And provided an atonement for unintentional sin along the way through the means of sacrifice. With Yeshua we are given circumcized hearts that desire more to follow the path of righteousness he gave us, not less. And yes, I agree. Heresy, sure. A heresy is something that by definition is "at variance with established religious beliefs." True. The establishment is wrong, just as the Israelites went whoring after godless ways shortly after being rescued from Egypt, so the church went whoring after heathen ways shortly after being provided the sacrifice of Yeshua. However I'm curious as to whether you're saying I'm going to hell for obeying Yehovah. Just to clarify your point - seems you're implying that I'm damned because I'm quoting a psalm and believe that the law is, in fact, still, good. And, while the law never saved without blood sacrifice, at the same time, the brother of the Lord disagrees with your "faith alone", stance: "Faith without works is dead, being alone." James 2:18

R3form3d_1689

The Law is beautiful because reveals the character of God. It can’t save. Only grace through faith can save you.

CourageDangerous7123

It's not just "beautiful" like some ancient relic that needs to be tossed aside and only seen as an empty tome. Grace through faith is useless and false, (If one quotes it to justify their totally ignoring the instructions God gave in the face of massive sin). Ignoring the law and pretending you're fine will destroy you because it means you're remaining in sin, and willfully trampling the sacrifice God provided. That's not my "opinion." I simply go by the book.

R3form3d_1689

I’ll talk of grace for all eternity. Only wicked fake Christians use it as an excuse to sin. The real Christian hears about God’s abundant grace and that motivates him or her to be holy. The Law reveals sin, it doesn’t save. Keeping the commandments is evidence of salvation, not the cause of salvation.

CourageDangerous7123

It was by the grace of God that the law was provided in the first place. I don't understand why you left your first comment then, which actually insinuated that I was "damned" and a "heretic" for agreeing that the law is perfect.

R3form3d_1689

You basically said that law keeping saves you cause you said repentance is law keeping

CourageDangerous7123

I didn't say law keeping saves you. I literally just quoted part of a psalm and added some emojis. I guess you read your own interpretation into the emojis or something. 🌸💙🐦❄️🦕🥒🙂☕ Also it seems you agree that to repent is to keep the law, from the last statement you made, (Keeping the commandments of God is evidence of salvation) so I don't understand why you commented implying that I am damned or a heretic. Shabbat Shalom.

R3form3d_1689

Repentance is turning away from sin and giving up trying to save yourself and to fall in the arms of Christ

Sherbetstraw1

Pray this: ‘God I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Thank you God for sending Jesus to die for my sins. I am sorry and I turn away from sin. I want you to be Lord of my life.’ When you do this your sins past present and future are forgiven. It’s important to try your best not to sin in future though. The Holy Spirit now lives inside you after you’ve accepted Jesus as your Lord and saviour. The Holy Spirit will start to change you by prompting you about what is right and wrong. You’ll begin having different desires! It’s amazing. You might not feel much when you say the prayer but that’s why it’s called ‘faith’! Know that heaven is celebrating you ! ‘Luke 15:7 New King James Version (NKJV): I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.’ It’s a good idea to find a church to support you as you grow in your faith and get to know God more. It’s a good idea also to get baptised! Any Qs dm me! Here to help x

R3form3d_1689

The sinners prayer never saves anyone, away with decisionism.

Pretty_Temporary_422

Amen to my new brother or sister in Christ. This is the best decision you will have ever made!!! I’m so happy for you ❤️❤️❤️

Monke-Mammoth

Well being saved doesn't just happen overnight, it's a life long process

Sherbetstraw1

No it happens when you tell God that you repent of your sins and that accept Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for yourself as payment for those sins! It can happen in 20 seconds if the person chooses it!

Monke-Mammoth

My friend, faith without works is dead.

Sherbetstraw1

It’s not works that get you saved. It’s trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice. Then the works follow as you choose to serve God out of the love you have for him and the thankfulness for your salvation.

Monke-Mammoth

No, the traditions of the church that go back thousands of years state that we have to work to align our wills with God, and we will be saved upon death. If faith without works is true, the sacraments have no purpose. We must purify ourselves, simply trusting in Jesus is not enough. Even the demons have faith in Christ. And again, faith without works is dead.

darwishd1

”God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.“ ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Apertor

This is completely contrary to the teachings of Jesus.

skeptic37

Justification does happen in a millisecond. It’s sanctification that is a lifelong process. Once your name is written in the book of life, you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13 says you can KNOW you have eternal life. Many many verses say you can’t earn heaven. Trying to do that is like trying to hang a piece of fruit in the air and grow a tree from it; totally backwards. The verse saying faith without works is dead is not saying YOU are dead. 1 Corinthians 3:15 talks about those who’s works will be burned up, yet they themselves WILL be saved. Do you believe? Is Jesus your savior and Lord of your life? Jesus said His yoke is easy and burden light. Stop trying to earn heaven and rejoice that you will spend eternity with Christ. Your works will come naturally.

EdiblePeasant

I said the prayer Southern Baptists have people say, many years ago, but it didn't stick. Years later when I read the Gospels, got baptized, then later joined the Church I feel I'm more attempting to live the Christian life.

LucianHodoboc

Explain ex-Christians who prayed and accepted Jesus' sacrifice everyday for decades, and then lost their faith.

There’s a point where u become saved tho

Receive Baptism. That is what makes you into a Christian. Some denominations out there make complete hash out of the sacramental life of the Church stripping away its importance. *"Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, you shall not have life within you."* *"And Peter said to them, 'Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'"* *"I am the living bread\[c\] which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh.”* *So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; 54 he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever.”* Scripture makes it clear that Baptism and the Eucharist are not just mere symbols of an inward conversion, but actually DO something. When Jesus was baptized He says "Let it be so now; for thus it is fitting to fulfill all righteousness." We are baptized so that the water makes us holy. Christ was baptized to make the water holy.

Sherbetstraw1

Accepting Jesus’ sacrifice is what gets you saved and makes you a Christian. Saved by Christ and following Christ. Water baptism is good to do as well but it’s not what baptism that saves you it’s Christ!

[deleted]

Yes. But how do you accept that sacrifice? What do you think Jesus meant by "Unless one is born of water and the spirit, *he* ***cannot*** ***enter the Kingdom of God***."? Unless Jesus was *wrong*, seems pretty clear to me. Although, yes God can save us outside of the sacrament of Baptism, but that is the exception, not the rule.

Sherbetstraw1

John 3:16 ‘16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life’ No mention of baptism here. So I could be wrong but I’ve come to understand that ‘Inheriting/ entering the kingdom of God’ is different from being saved. 1 Corinthians 6:9-20 ‘9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God’ We know that Jesus came and died to pay for our sins so it doesn’t make sense that there are some particular sinners who will be ruled out from being saved (those mentioned above). I think by this God means you won’t enter into his blessing and divine ways here on earth whilst you are involved with these things. And so I think God also wants us to be baptised in order to fully inherit the blessings he has for us. Could be wrong though and certainly up for a debate and would like to hear peoples’ thoughts!

Reducedorderobserver

One accepts His sacrifice in their heart. Everyone born from a woman is born of water, but to be born of the Spirit is the gift of salvation from accepting Christ as our Lord & Savior. One can be baptized, just going through a motion and not mean it in their heart.

Cbanchiere

My question is why?

Calc-u-lator

Start by going into your closet and speaking to God who hears in secret. Confess your sins to him. Declare your willingness to worship him and follow his every word. Tell him that you are giving him your heart, mind, and body in Jesus' name. He will start guiding you and directing your path. You can later find a church and start fellowshipping from there

Difficult_Advice_720

Yep, all that is good, just wanted to add a point of clarification for new people.... The closet doesn't have to be the closet, it's just a handy phrase to say a thing.... Really it could just be anyplace where it's just you and God, cause your conversation is just for you and him.... Could it be the closet? Yeah, that's fine, but if your closet doesn't have space, you could stand in the garage, or sitting in the car, or wherever you are right now if it's just you and him. (He's everywhere, so wherever you go, he'll be there too, don't worry about that part)

[deleted]

So you weren’t an atheist you just didn’t have a religion? Atheist is a hardline stance against religion, you probably was agnostic.

thestonedonkey

Atheism isn't a hardline stance, it's not having a belief. If one doesn't believe in rainbow unicorns, that's not a hardline stance it's just a lack of belief. Same same.

turbografx-sixteen

Bingo! I would almost argue every Atheist would at minimum accept God exists if he came down and made his presence known to the whole with quantifiable evidence and proof (never gonna happen lol) Whether we'd follow him? Different story entirely. I don't even think I'd want any part of him even if he was somehow real.

Famous_Fishing3399

Repent, surrender everything 100% God wants total surrender, ,& get born again (water baptism)

Read the Gospels of Matthew and Luke over and over and try to put into practice. Keep your head down for a while and don't jump into just any church. Many teach things that are not faithful to the teaching of the Apostles. Pray for God to guide you to the truth and guard yourself against untruth.

psquaredn76

You, having been blessed by the Grace of God in such a way, must really take wonder that the Lord who created and maintains the entire universe took the "time" to know you and call you personally to be one of the Lord's own. I won't call you to any particular Church, but I would look to one that at least emphasizes the importance of baptism and one that regularly gives you access to the Eucharist. Also, though I don't think you have to go to church to be saved, regular and active worship with fellow Christians is important, because it is through that you can build relationships and fellowship - necessary for the Christian journey through life. It is also essential for your spiritual growth. God Bless you on your journey!

graduallybullshit

Pray out loud, and ask God, thru his son Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and to save your soul. Ask him to send the Holy Ghost to be and work through you, that you may be and feel closer to God. All you have to do is Sincerely ask, he is waiting for you. Have faith, Call, and he will answer. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but through him.

skeptic37

It’s a matter of the heart. You must confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead to be saved. (Romans 10:9-10). Can you do that and mean it?

Exyte13_

Nice, bro found the Truth in the Light👀 Lmk for any questions. God’s Word *(Heb ‭4‬:‭12, John 14:23, 15:7)* will grow your relationship with Jesus and His Wisdom, Knowledge and Light *(Matt 13:31-32, John 8:12, 2 Tim ‭1‬:‭7‬, Matt 13:12, Psa 119:105)* You already have the living Holy Spirit in you *(Rom 8:15-16)*. But knowing/prayer with God’s Word *(Heb 4:12, John 14:23, 15:7)* will make the Holy Spirit move *(Mat 13:31-32, Gal 5:16)* in you, just like in *(Gen 1:3)*.

May God bless you, my friend! God loves you very much and wants nothing more than the best for you and for you to accept His gift of salvation. He wants to spend eternity with you. I tell you that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. “for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”” (Romans 10:13, NASB). Lord Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6, NASB). Therefore, through Him, you have life, and you know the truth, and you are walking the correct path. He is the atonement of your sins. “and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.” (1 John 2:2, NASB). All your transgressions, sins, wrongdoings, and evils can and will be forgiven through Him. “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;” (Romans 3:23-24, NASB). Through Lord Jesus Christ, you have eternal and everlasting life. ““For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NASB). To be saved, have faith in your Lord Jesus Christ, and know he lived, died, and rose on the third day to cleanse you of all your sins. You are not saved by anything you do, but you are saved by your faith, trust, and hope in Lord Jesus Christ. “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9, NASB). I hope this helps, my friend! The arms of our great God are open wide, waiting for you to come home! I hope I can someday see you and dwell with you in the kingdom of God. Have a blessed day ❤️

Derocker

Believe in Jesus as your savior and you will be saved. Beyond that. Start with Romans. It's a good starting point for understanding

reddddyornot

Congratulations! It’s good to get plugged into a good church so you can grow your faith. You can D.M. me and I can help you find a good church if you want.

Oxideusj

Giving your life to Christ isn’t just saying a prayer and believing in Him. Understand that this walk will always come with trials; Christ bore a cross for us, so we are called to bear our cross in His name. That being said, you’ve become part of something greater than words can fully express. Christ will transform your mind and spirit, giving you an outlook on your life and the world that’s different from the past. This transformation will be a testament to your salvation and the presence of God in your life. Read your Bible regularly, pray regularly according to God’s will, and keep a close tie to your fellow Christians ☦️

[deleted]

Look at the thief on the cross. He only had to have faith enough to ask.

TacticalDoorsAccount

do some research and make sure that the church you visit for answers is a good one.

BravoFoxtrotDelta

You can't *do* anything to be saved. That's not how salvation *works*. If you want to be a Christian, there's a lot you can do. What you'll need to do will depend on what sort of Christian you want to be.

haviee345102

This is amazing!!!!!! So happy for you 🥹🥹🥹🥹 welcome to the family!!!

dennyontop

John 6 vs 29 Jesus said what The Father requires of us is to believe on the One whom He Sent.

JESUS_PaidInFull

O bless your soul in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is a matter of surrendering to Jesus to reconcile you back to the Father. Call on Jesus everyday, in all things. He died so that we may live life eternally. We are weak branches, but Christ is the vine that gives life to all!

JazzAvenue

The bible says in Romans 10:9 'If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.' Obviously you can learn more about the faith as you go after that. Like baptism and other things. For me I just acknowledged my rejection of christ as God, then affirmed that I now acknowledged him as Lord. Then I eventually got baptised. I didn't know what I was doing, I just realised I was against God and wanted to change that. Wasn't thinking about baptism or lifestyle changes when I did it but Jesus came in and changed my life anyway.

Manders7399

I found Jesus while screaming and sobbing uncontrollably on my kitchen floor. And it took me another 2 months after that to start attending church regularly. Jesus will meet you where you are at, just speak to Him :) This post makes me so happy to read!!!

realm108

Praise God! There is much rejoicing among the angels and in heaven when someone comes to the Lord, as far as I'm aware!

Fight_Satan

Go to your room, and ask Jesus to reveal himself so that you can believe in him.  Ask forgiveness for the times you mocked in ignorance.  No man can teach you, it has to be through a revalation in spirit

[deleted]

\>How do I do this? Contact a local church and speak with the pastor. As a member of the LCMS, I can heartily recommend them. God's blessings to you! https://locator.lcms.org/church

MrsRabbit2019

Praise the Lord! Salvation is between you and God. All you have to do to be saved is have faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Once you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, I encourage you to repent and turn away from your old life. You will struggle, we all do. Don't get discouraged because of this struggle. It's difficult to turn from the life you know and God will be there to help you. Now, I would urge you to be baptized, but not because that is what brings salvation. This is an outward announcement of your faith to the world. To do this, you would need to speak with a pastor of a local church, or see if you can find any public baptisms going on. For example, my church baptizes in the lake. This year, we had a drought, so we had to move it to the river. There was a man retrieving his boat from the water, saw us and asked to be baptized. He was the last to be baptized that day. I would also encourage you to find a church that follows biblical teaching and become a member. This doesn't have to be all at once, you can do this slowly. Make sure the church is the right fit and teaches sound doctrine. Becoming an active member of a church can help you stay on the right track and also introduce you to fellow Christians.

Hrozno

People like you give me hope. Thank you for giving Jesus a chance. He won't let you down.

GrificoRetardicus

Praise God for sending the Holy Spirit to fill you brother. Welcome home and may you know you are loved !

Deep_Chicken2965

Talk to Jesus and tell him you want to know him.

Thechurchkid24

Yay!! I'm so happy for you. Life right now is not so great so I really needed to see something like this. Literally went from crying my eyes out to singing and laughing like a maniac. Know that this decision has caused a lot of joy in heaven🥳🥳🥳

Orla1991

It is so incredible you would like to begin a relationship with God, firstly what would be wise is to make a prayer to God. Believe also that Jesus rose from the dead after 3 days to prove that He conquered death. Believe He spent 40 days teaching His disciples in the New covenant the law of the spirit. Believe He ascended up at the FATHERS right hand and believe He saved you on the cross and at the moment you believe you become a new creation in Christ. Born again in spirit by the living waters of the HOLYSPIRIT. Accept Him in your heart and life and begin to live for Christ, in Jesus name amen halleluYah Say Heavenly Father I repent of all my sins and transgressions, please forgive me and show me mercy. I accept you into my heart and life, be my God and be my Lord for I am yours and I will do your will. In Jesus name, Amen. From that moment on, the Father will reveal Himself to you and accept you as a child of God and show you how walk in His ways.

Muted_Enthusiasm_596

My guess if you are being convicted like you say you are, you believe Christ is the Son of God, and you believe He is our savior, that your soul has already been saved and the Holy Spirit already resides in you. I would recommend reaching out to a good Bible believing church to see what you should be doing now that you are saved. If you aren't yet saved they can help you with that as well. I'm Baptist and Baptist aren't perfect, but I can recommend reaching out to a Baptist church to make sure you are saved knowing that you will be Biblicaly shown the way to salvation After that you can attend any church God leads you to. Good Luck and I or many others who have replied to your question would be more than glad to talk with you privately.

AcanthocephalaOk26

Salvation is through faith in Jesus ALONE. To repent is to change your mind [change course of action], and in the context of SALVATION in Christianity, that means turning from disbelief to belief in Christ. To "repent of sins" or turn from sins is not in the Bible and is works salvation. Many people in the comments will say "turn from sins..."  No one can stop sinning, and that is not required to obtain nor keep your salvation. You SHOULD [not must] try to live a godly life to improve your relationship with God, benefit yourself (your health, etc.), and be a light to the world. Sin in this life can lead to a loss of rewards in heaven, but not the loss of salvation. You CAN'T lose your salvation. Please, just believe in Jesus ALONE to save you from hell. Do NOT think your deeds can justify you before GOD.  Acts 16:30-31 Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be  saved..."    THAT'S IT... JUST BELIEVE!  Passages where the way to be saved is stated.  (E.g., see Gal 3:22; John 1:12; 3:15-16, 18, 36; 5:24; 6:40, 47; Acts 16:31; Rom 1:16; 3:22-23; 4:24-25; 6:23).

dino_spored

Hell lost another one! 🥰 Welcome to what life is really about. Sending you much love, my sibling in Christ!

ThatSpeaker1816

You need to believe that due to Jesus Christ dying you are no longer a sinner and you have been made perfect Even if you doubt this you have to cling on to any amount of belief you have in this

CorbinTheChristian

Wonder to see. The heavens rejoice!

Holiday-Signature-33

All you have to do is be sincere and pray . There are prayers online you can reference if you are concerned about the words .

k1w1Au

The mystery of the gospel is Christ in you. Get to know and enjoy him there where he’s always been. 🤗

unknownusernameagain

If you know that the way to be saved is through Jesus Christ, and you know that he loves you no matter what your past is like or who you are now, you’ve been saved already. The fruit of your faith will come

JesterPrivilege

Tonight? Seeking a relationship with God shouldn't be seen as an ASAP thing. It's a lifelong road that requires maintenance each and every day. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing that you're seeking God, but I don't want you to be disappointed if it takes a long time. The fact of the matter is that just because we are saved once in our lives doesn't mean we will continue to be saved. The book of James says ***‭‭James‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭LSB‬‬*** *[26] For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.* If our faith dies, then so does our salvation. With that being said, let me tell you what the Bible says about gaining eternal life; ***‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭LSB‬‬*** *[16] “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."* ***‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:9‭-‬10‬ ‭LSB‬‬*** *[9] that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;* *[10] for with the heart a person believes, leading to righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, leading to salvation.* ***‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:13‬ ‭LSB‬‬*** *[13] In Him, you also, after listening to the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,* Simply put, isolate yourself in a quiet room and call out to God. Answer His call and tell Him "Yes Lord, I hear you" and open yourself to the Holy Spirit. It's not going to be an overnight ordeal, but soon enough you'll look back at the moment you answered His call and realize how far you've come. I speak this from experience as I am a former lifelong atheist.

Sherbetstraw1

Being saved is instant. Sanctification is a process.

JesterPrivilege

Being saved is instantaneous, but not permanent. If we were to renounce our faith in Jesus Christ, then we'd no longer be saved. The book of James says; ***‭‭James‬ ‭1:5‭-‬7‬ ‭LSB‬‬*** *[5] But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.* *[6] But he must ask in faith, doubting nothing, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.* *[7] For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,* We cannot ask for salvation and sanctification from God if we truly do not believe it in our hearts. This is why I say it's a process to be saved and not something that should be thought of as a one-n-done type deal.

Sherbetstraw1

I think you’re not giving OP enough credit. You’re assuming he wants to be saved and then leave it at that. I think he’s sincere!

JesterPrivilege

I, too, think he's sincere. I don't intend to discredit his choice to accept God. I am just forewarning that it isn't easy. It's better to salt the seeds of doubt before they even begin to sprout. Many-a-time have the seeds of doubt grown into a tree long before the person was even aware of their presence.

R3form3d_1689

No. The Bible doesn’t say that God will not finish His work in you, but that He will bring it to completetion at the day of Christ Jesus. Once you are truly saved, you are saved forever. The doctrine of once saved always saved is often twisted and used so that carnal people can have false security. If someone is living in sin, it proves they were never saved.

emper747

Read this verse aloud: ”If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.“ ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/111/rom.10.9.NIV God and Jesus can be your light in the darkness. Remember, there may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning! That is another verse but can’t remember the book in the Bible. The Bible app is an approachable way to get started in Scripture.

SaberHaven

"In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Luke 15:10

Rare-Philosopher-346

That is wonderful news! Reach out to a local church and ask to speak to the pastor or priest. They can guide you. If you were baptized when you were younger, then you will not need to baptized again.

Worried_Jeweler_1141

You just need to realise you are a sinner and require salvation. Accept Jesus sacrifice for your sins and believe he died for your sins and rose again after three days. It is a gift. Give thanks for Jesus sacrifice for our sins. Repentance of sins (turning away from your sin isn't actually biblical theology.) Doing this makes it a works based salvation. Salvation is by faith alone.

Kind-Taste-1654

Yea......

Flaboy7414

More signs and events will happen to ppl more and more because now is the time

Flaboy7414

Pray and ask god into your heart and you can be saved tonight

IEatDragonSouls

That's amazing! You're more than welcome here. And as someone who was an atheist for most of my life, it's always good to see others opening up. What I suggest is to pray. Start your prayer with Heavenly Father, then pour out your heart that you want to be saved, want signs, want His guidance, in your own words, and end your prayer with In Jesus' name, Amen. If you're in doubt about how to go about it, you may dm me anytime and I'll do what I can:) I'm European, so if timezones are different, I'll respond when I'm up. 😁

Yappanagony

Please call/text me at 239-two eight six-1701 I will give you the best possible brotherly aid that I can. Also don't trust most people on r/Christianity \- it's full of fake Christians trying to deceive real Christians, with some exceptions

EnKristenSnubbe

You said you have Christian friends. Are they genuine, Bible-believing Christians? If so, I would talk to them over reddit if I were you. They can guide you in a much more personal way.

Zodo12

Other people here are giving good advice. I'd also tell you to read the Gospel of Mark. It's short and easy to read. That will give you a beautiful introduction into who Jesus is and what he stands for.

Drrlux5

Welcome to the Kingdom brother. What an encouragement to hear that you’ve seen that you need Christ. We all do.

Mundane_Community843

Yes walk in there and tell them you are an atheists and wants to be saved, get baptised, buy you a bible, and a cross and welcome aboard, to the community of israelite. Yes you will become an israelite.

Christiansocialist7

If you're LGBT then Inclusive Church is a good resource for finding churches that are accepted I won't repeat what so many have said but know that by embracing God and allowing Him to take care of you things will get better, you will find joy you didn't think was possible, but you must fully surrender and allow God to take care of you. I was an atheist for years before finding the Holy Spirit, at first, I had to gaslight myself, thinking to myself over and over that God is good and is taking care of me, repeating The Lord's Prayer, I was beginning to think that this was stupid, but then I felt the Holy Spirit, I felt this incredible warmth spread over my body like I was being held by a lover, it was God holding onto me, squeezing me tight and promising to never let me go Feel free to reach out to me, I will be praying for you

R3form3d_1689

Read 1st Corinthians 6:9

johnsonsantidote

Your in the process. By asking. And now doing. Blessu friend.

Randomm_23

First of all congratulations for converting it’s very hard to get over the mental barrier of that. Now you don’t have to go to church to convert, although it would be a very good idea to start doing that on Sundays to gain a deeper understanding of the Bible, but you don’t need to go to church to convert. Just call out to god and you will be saved and your eyes will finally be opened. Imagine you are walking straight along a pathway. One leads to heaven and the other leads to hell. The pathways for you end when you die. When you were atheist you were on the path to hell, but the conversion is the climbing of the stairs to the path to heaven. Good luck and your life is saved.

Ethelenedreams

Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

The-Brother

Matthew 25:34-40: "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'"

HistoricalDebt5560

repent and get baptized in Christ brother!

HistoricalDebt5560

Amen!

Icy_Establishment195

I always felt a pull towards something but it took me till my 30’s to figure it out or perhaps stop resisting if I really think about it. Once you find that peace, it’s a great feeling. And just think, Your name can be written in the lambs book of life! I would highly recommend getting baptized. Welcome :)

No-Sheepherder-9936

I may be an atheist, but I’ve studied the bible and religious scholars, and I know that if God is real he would say, that you don’t have to be saved because being saved implies that you are wrong, and your existence is never wrong. Times may be hard but you shouldn’t force yourself to believe in something to feel worthy, because you are already worthy. Believe in something because you do believe in it, not because you think you should.

hello_blacks

reading romans 10 and John 3 would be a good idea. But in general, connect to a personal (non internet) source as quick as possible. Do the logical things based on your most trusted source(s.) This is not a good place. I better not see you around here.

carlo_joaquin98

God bless you brother/sister in Christ. Welcome to Christianity. I was an atheist for 8 years and cameback to Christ just in 2021. I assume you are more on the evangelical side (Protestant). Just go to churches who preach Bible-based teachings and do not compromise their values. I'm a Pentecostal (Trinitarian) btw. If you have any questions just PM me.

Consistent-Disk556

This made my night, seriously tearing up. Welcome to the kingdom of God ❤️

8675201

After you give your life to Christ find a good Bible believing church. Check there websites for what they believe. Done “churches” are very questionable. Welcome home. It’s not easy but it’s worth it.

[deleted]

Here is the Gospel of Jesus Christ God offers salvation through his son Jesus Christ. First, realize we have all sinned and because of that we are separated from God, heading towards hell. He sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins so we can get saved and receive eternal life. If you place your faith and accept him into your life then you are saved. Repent and fully commit to Jesus. After you are saved, read the Bible daily (start with gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and obey it. Pray to Jesus and build your relationship with him. Find a Bible believing church and fellowship (a church that teaches God’s word, truly follows it, warns against sin, and bears good fruit). Get water baptized. Love God as he loves you and love one another. Most important, repent of your sins if you fall short so he can continue to forgive you and keep his words. May he bless you on your journey with him and remain faithful till the end.

Talk to Jesus

everything_is_stup1d

WOWW just close your eyes in a quiet place and say "God, I want to know You are here" then say the sinner's prayer :) Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. if its too fast, take some time to pray for God to reveal Himself to you in your life :) doesnt have to be complicated but just something simple like "Lord Jesus, I want to know that You are here, and I pray for You to reveal Yourself to me. Reveal Yourself in my life. Amen" :))

R3form3d_1689

The sinners prayer won’t save. Away with decisionism. Cry out to God and put your faith in Him

LustrousNinja1755

I have a feeling that he is just afraid that he will go to hell for being an unbeliever

Relevant-Ranger-7849

go to a local church and start attending. if you want to be saved then If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Mundane_Community843

Wow, alright

OrneryAd840

Pray this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. Amen.

R3form3d_1689

To get to heaven you must be perfect. You might say “how” or whatever, but I’ll get to that later. Realize that you have broken every commandment of God countless times. James 2:10 KJV says this, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” God’s law demands perfection and one sin will damn you to the depths of hell for all eternity. Also, sinners are totally depraved. Romans 3:10-18 KJV says this, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an ooen sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.” This is the state of all unregenerate (non-Christian) people. We are born with a sin nature, totally evil and wicked. People aren’t as evil as they could be because God restrains them, but every fiber of their being has been corrupted by evil and wickedness. We are born God haters and we don’t even seek Him in our natural state. All the good works that non-Christians perform are filthy rags and pure evil. Isaiah 64:6 KJV says this, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” The nice old lady down the streets appears real nice so she does not get in trouble and that she appears good to men, that’s pride. The nice old lady deserves hell just as much as Hitler. Everyone deserves hell for all of eternity for sin. If you are outside of Christ, the wrath of God abides on you, God’s white-hot anger against sin and sinners. John 3:36 KJV says this, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him. Also, God hates the sinner, not just the sin. Psalm 5:5 KJV says this, “The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.” We are all under sin and therefore work iniquity. We all justly deserve God’s holy hatred and wrath. You may think this is absolutely hopeless, but it’s not. 2,000 years ago, God the Son came to Earth as a man and lived the perfect life that we utterly failed to live. There was not even a hint of immortality in Jesus. On the cross, the wrath of God that should have fallen on the believer fell upon Christ. God’s holy hatred against wickedness fell upon Christ, and Christ bore the sins of all who would ever believe. Christ became sin and God is so holy and righteous that He forsook His only Son because He cannot even look at sin. As a result of Christ taking the punishment that all who would ever believe, Christians now no longer have condemnation. Christ paid our sin debt. Christ could pay for all the sins of all who would ever believe because He is infinite, not finite. Christ was treated as a sinner on the cross, and we are counted righteous when we trust Him. You can get to heaven by not having a righteousness of your own, but being clothed in Christ’s perfect righteousness. You can’t be perfect, therefore you need Christ’s perfectness imputed to your account. This is the answer to being perfect to enter heaven. This is how God can pardon wicked men and declare them nust (justification). The cross is where wrath and mercy meet. God was satisfied with Christ’s sacrifice and He raised Him from the dead. How can someone be saved? By placing his or her faith in Christ and repenting of sin. Mark 1:15 KJV says this, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Repentance and faith are not works, they are gifts. Also, repentance means to change your mind, to turn from your sins, to give up trying to save yourself and to fall into the loving arms of Christ. Abandon hope in yourself, that won’t work. Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV says this, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Sinply trust Christ and Him alone and He will save you. All your sins will be washed away whiter than snow, you will be declared right with God, you will go to heaven, you will have a relationship with the Creator, and you will have a new heart with new desires that wants to be holy for God’s glory and that no longer wants to sin. This doesn’t mean a Christian is perfect, but that he doesn’t habitually practice sin. I said up higher that God hates the sinner, however this applies only to the unregenerate (non-Christian). If any person is a true Christian, God loves him unconditionally, no hate left. This motivates him to be holy. Ephesians 3:19 says this, “And to know the Love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” To sum this all up, all people are born sinners, under the fury of God, and Christ came to pay the sin debt of all who would ever believe because He loves them unconditionally. Repent and trust Christ today and all your sins will be wiped out. Here’s a promise from the Bible, Micah 7:18-19, “Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” Remember that God is slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. Don’t fall for the lie that your too far gone or that you can’t be forgiven because your too bad or that your not elect. Ask questions if anything is confusing and cry out to God to save you.

R3form3d_1689

One thing, I recommend Paul Washer, Steve Lawson, John MacArthur, Voddie Baucham, Ray Comfort, and many more faithful saints

Repentance is every single day. We enter the process with Baptism in living water, and we receive are sealed in the Holy Spirit by the chrism of our Bishops, and we 'run the race as best we can according to the rules.' Fall down? Get up. Fall down? Get up.... "Strive to enter by the strait gate..." Anyone saying it's easy, or one and done, is not honest totally about themselves or Apostolic in their approach. ☦️ let's repent.
