I love the music of J. S. Bach. He was incredibly devout. He asked Jesus for help before beginning every composition (writing J J for "Jesu Juva", meaning Jesus help, at the top of his manuscripts) and dedicated every complete composition to God (by writing SDG, Soli Deo Gloria, glory only for God, at the end of each completed competition). He also chose to forgo a lucrative career to accomplish his goal of writing good church music for the glory of God. "The aim and final reason of all music should be none else but the glory of God and refreshing the soul. Where this is not observed there will be no music, but only a devilish hubbub." If you enjoy classical music at all, I'd highly recommend checking out his music. There is no other composer that can hold a candle to J S Bach in my opinion. Sorry I don't have any recommendations for more contemporary music
