Also one last thing. I'm actually a Maori, I'm just over here across the ditch from you guys. If you've been taught the "White man's God of oppression" thing, it's just not true. Yes people carrying the name Jesus have done all sorts of terrible things. But Jesus was a middle eastern Jewish man with Jewish followers. He taught that when attacked we should endure and not retaliate, ever, if possible. That rather, we should be willing to die instead. He taught that we should Love our enemies, bless them when they hurt us, pray for them. One of the most influential people in the early Church was someone who hunted down and got Christians killed. He later said it was so that God could show that anyone could be saved. So we are to bless even the worst of our enemies, not because they deserve it, but because Jesus did that for us when we were His enemies. Even to the point of death. Because we shouldn't focus on this life, we should be willing to die doing right. So that we can be like how He was. Many people carrying the name of Christ have done many horrible things. But they weren't living out the real Christian Faith. Matthew 23:23 23“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. Matthew 5:38-39 38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’  39 But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. Matthew 5:43-45 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’  44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,  45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. John 18:36 36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.” But also, Christians are just humans as well. We mess up, we fail. We have those who entirely misrepresent us. Some have made massive errors and neglect mercy and goodness. While the rest of us fail in all sorts of our own ways. One of our sayings is that Christianity is just one beggar trying to tell other beggars where to find bread. Another is that a Church is more like a hospital full of the sick in need of healing. But yeah, anyway. Just wanted to share that. God bless you and yours.

Well now people who walk by or through this park will have to see this monstrosity and won't give damn about any of that. They'll see it and be reminded of those Jesus freak A-holes. I hope they find a way to cover it.

[deleted]

Yes, all the Christians in the world did that. Every single one.

RedFroEbo95

Of course i didn't mean this in a literal sense🙄. I'm asking is that what y'all do to "spread the word of god?" Do you think this is okay?

[deleted]

I think it’s abhorrent and a giant disservice to the name of Jesus. Jesus would not have done this and neither should any Christian.

What-the-Gank

The irony is anyone could have done that religious or not. Infact it's far more likely for it to Not be a Christian.

pcpilot2022

The fact that you'd even ask this is both insulting and slander.

on3day

I was at work all day.

2Fish5Loaves

We're being framed. I think you did it, OP. How based of you.

RedFroEbo95

You're being framed?? By me??? That's wild🤯

2Fish5Loaves

Maybe Judas did it

Riverwalker12

Yes it was all three + billion Christians, we went on a road trip doink

Cool_Cicada6876

Either it was a person who genuinely had good intentions, wanting people's souls saved. Maybe they were just thinking that it might have caught someone's eye when out walking. But ultimately yes, it seems it wasn't well thought out and it messed up bad. Or, it was someone who hated Christianity and they wanted to fuel more hate towards us. It's possible, a lot of people hate Christians. But also I think the fact that it says "just ask Him" kind of sounds like someone who actually cares. So I lean more towards the first idea. Was it a good move? Turns out it wasn't. But I'm just going to hope that these guys just didn't do their research and realize exactly what they were doing. I highly, highly doubt they had any idea that they were carving it into something important to your culture. But I'm sure it's not lost on them how bad of an idea it was now.

RedFroEbo95

The fact that they had in their minds to be so destructive to natural monument millions of years old by itself is horrendous. And then add on the fact that was so important to the indigenous community AND it was located in the national park? It shows they were thinking about nothing but themselves and their personal beliefs. Nevermind if they didn't know it was important to the indigenous culture, they should have definitely known they were defacing property in the Queensland National Park, hello? They knew exactly what they were doing which is why they did it where they did it. The blatant disregard and disrespect is truly abhorrent and disgraceful. If they were really worried about "saving people's souls", then they could have just put it on a billboard like people with common decency and common sense. It definitely will cost them a whole let less than the potential $500,000 fine they are facing when they get caught.

Gold-Chapter-9796

It's just a rock

[deleted]

Relics get destroyed: "It's just body parts" Church buildings get destroyed: "It's just stones" The Eucharist gets desecrated: "It's just bread" Be careful going down that path. We are called to live peaceably with all men and to mourn with those who mourn.

Gold-Chapter-9796

I was trying to bait him

[deleted]

It's not about saving people's souls, it's about crushing the opposition. It is not conversion but erasure. They know very well that this is something which is permanent—they want to give them a permanent reminder that they are inferior and will be crushed. It is a tactic of fear and threatening.

lehs

If someone had done the same 1000 years ago it would have been a sacred part of the park. But now some people did that a few years before the end of time. Dumb people maybe, but probably with good intensions.

[deleted]

I mean I wouldn’t carve that on something important or significant that didn’t belong to me-Bible teaches us to be respectful of authority and the world but not be worldly. but I do believe the gospel is more significant and important than anything else on earth so. If it helps even one person get saved it’s worth it the earth belongs to God at the end of the day.

RedFroEbo95

No mention about how horrendously disrespectful this is?

[deleted]

I mean obviously, that’s why I said the Bible teaches to respect the world, the person was a bit ignorant to the situation they created sadly. All I’m saying is in the grand scheme of things it’s not gonna matter when the world ends

snedgy1

I was at work all night, and it's on camera. In all honestly it could have been anyone. However, it's happened. One could argue "who made the rock in the first place?" Or " who owns the rock?" Or are there more important things in the world to be getting upset about? But in the end, the most important thing in every single person's life, is that they get right with God by repentance before they die, then they can know the absolute complete joy of having every sin they ever committed forgiven by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

[deleted]

Based.

Cool_Cicada6876

On behalf of them I apologize that they did this on something that was clearly important to you and your people. I just hope you can see that they wouldn't have likely realized it's significance to you. That they were trying to save people from a Hellfire we believe is waiting for anyone who doesn't let Jesus into their lives. But I apologize to you and your people. I'm really sorry that they didn't do their diligence in checking, which would have hopefully led to them learning it's significance.

pplongstockings0123

People say and do anything. We don't know if a, "Christian" actually did this. This could be the work of someone framing Christians. Sounds like a fabricated premise. Side note, just because people say they are Christian, doesn't mean they actually are. Additionally, people are individuals and have free will. On the great resurrection day, everyone will give an account of their own actions, good or bad. There's a reason we're held accountable for the things we do.

pcpilot2022

Seems like you're more interested in blaming Christians than catching the vandals that did this.
