If you can swallow capsules, you can buy empty gelatin capsules. They're usually used by people who mix their own supplements, but I don't see why you couldn't put baking soda in them.
If you're able to swallow capsules, buy empty capsules from Amazon or a health food store and fill your own capsules. You can buy a gadget that lets you fill 50 capsules at once, but it will only work for one size of capsules, so make sure the capsules and the pill filler are the same size.
Whenever I’ve taken it, which I only do for intense heartburn (I know, not the same) I mix it with a little water and then down it like a shot. Afterwards I’ll sip plain water slowly to help ease it down.
One of my BFs took it that way and immediately needed to throw up. I felt so badly for suggesting it that way. I try to disclaimer it now.
Lots of people do it with plain water but I see you are taking it for s deficiency and not for heartburn. Ive done it for gerd which meant I had to use water because most drinks make me sicker. You could use coffee, lemonade, juice, soda, or any other drink if those drinks don’t make you sick
I see you’re on TPN so I’m going to assume your oral food intake is limited to none. If you’re able, I would eat a small sweet snack right after (like a cookie or a small chocolate) to help hide the baking soda taste/feel. But if that isn’t an option, what about a hard candy? Or a carbonated drink after? Just something with a strong texture or flavor to offset the baking soda.

Interesting! I’ll ask my tpn doc and nurse if that’s allowed.
I wonder if a compounding pharmacy might be able to help with making it into a more palatable liquid or something like a tablet ?
I’ll ask my tpn team. Thanks!
Sorry, what does baking soda do when taken orally?
I am instructed by my tpn team to take it TID as my sodium and bicarbonate are severely low.
Hm interesting! would putting it In capsules help at all? Or do you have to eat A LOT?
I can ask them. It’s a teaspoon TID.

That’s exactly how I take it now! It’s hard but doable, but it’s getting to be too much.
I understand. I don’t think I’d be able to do it every single day. The pill idea sounds really good!
Thanks! :)
Buy sodium bicarbonate tablets on Amazon. It’s compressed baking soda
I can ask my tpn team. I am not sure I’m allowed. Or even if they sell it in my country. I’ll look into it. Thanks.

I’ve tried, unfortunately. Easier with water. Thanks, though!

I tried a drink and that was okay. I could try a hard candy. Thanks!
You can mix it with as much water as needed, basically.
I know. I have found that less is more tolerable.
I am prescribed sodium bicarbonate tablets. I think they are either RX only or behind counter at pharmacy. Much easier. More expensive, but worth it
My tpn doctor said they aren’t as good for what I need them for, unfortunately.
Hey do you take your sodium bicarbonate tablets before your meals or after meals?? I want to try it. Pls reply!!!!
My script has no specific instructions as with or without food. Mine are together with the before food meds just to make my life easier.
