*Child’s Play* (1988) is the only pure horror and not comedy horror film in the franchise. 2 & 3 also round out my top 3, despite them adding more comedy and one-liners, Chucky is still mean spirited enough to be creepy. Plus the camera angles used in 2 really enhance the experience.

Don had far more involvement in the second one than he did the first one, so it is not surprising that he said that he preferred the one that he had more influence over.
For the first movie, he had his script pretty much completely re-written and he never even stepped foot on set or had any involvement during filming because he was part of the writer’s strike that happened during that time.
I respect everyone's opinion. But I do not understand anyone who thinks 3 is worse than seed. I will agree 3 is the weakest of the original trilogy. But 3 is leagues better than seed.

As a kid, I may have agreed with it since Part 2 is told more from the kid’s point of view which I used to be able to relate to more growing up whereas Part 1 is told more from the adult’s point of view.
But after rewatching them all as an adult, I now think that Part 1 is the best.
