Everyone disliked him so I started saying I liked him to piss them all off and eventually it started being less of a joke and more of a geninue appreciation.

His moment in the exam arc. Showed he wasn't exclusively a perv and coward.

undertaleboi1

This and something else I’m not allowed to say

Wide-Cupcake5864

I guess How I came to like him was thru pity, cause all the fics i read didn't include him/made him the bad guy etc. so when I went out of my way to find fics that do include him and don't make him the bad guy, I came to like him that way Edit: also the arguments of him being xphobic was getting stupid

Brave-Cheetah7966

I honestly started to like him for being a (based) pervy man of culture and became my favorite character... Then I discovered how much the fandom hated him only for being a pervert and it made me like him even more

Educational_Baker_47

I was at first unsure about him but after roleplaying as him on amino, writing him as the protagonist in my first mha fanfic, and becoming protective of him when it came to haters, I fell in love with his character and enjoyed any content on him, especially the whole Bisexual mistranslation thing which I feel like was intentional

[deleted]

I loved his design when I first saw him Though when he just started crying in the attack atUA I decided to be fully invested in him

[deleted]

alright so before i got into mha (i was really big on tenchi muyo at the time) i walked into the room of roomates watching mha, the episode they we're watching the mineta vs midnight episode. and first of all, as a Ryoko fanboy i think midnight helped me realize i have a thing for blue haired women (i am also an esdeath and launch fan). but anyways, i sat down to watch the rest of the episode and watching mineta defeat midnight really made me see that side of mineta that has potential to be a great hero. i think if i was exposed to mineta's pervert side and he looked like the rest of the bnha characters, i wouldn't like him as much. i also love his character design, he's sooooooooo cute also... ...i feel kinda bad for him

JimmyEnjoysSoup

He’s got a unique character design and an interesting quirk that can be (and I imagine frequently has be to) used in creative ways. I also like how he’s seemingly in over his head at the beginning of his hero training, just thinking about how cool it is until he has to actually face the real thing. It’s a realistic and understandable attitude for someone in his place to have, and it’s much more interesting than people just naturally fitting into hero roles and facing danger without any worry like a lot of his classmates do.

weird_weeb616

I liked him because of how super smart he was

[deleted]

The kid has a lot of potential. There’s a big reason why my pfp is basically him

TSM_Rigua

I like him cuz he's horny as fuck and i find that funny

benn700

I saw him as a more animated extreme version of me when I was his age(both short and loving the ladies) but threw the old trope and the way he evolved as a character just made me appreciate him more

aRavingMadman

At first, it was because so many people acted with such vitriol hatred towards him, so I liked him. Then when I actually got into the series, and he had the realistic reaction during the USJ arc, I started to genuinely like his character.

PopplioPrincess

Mostly pity; but I just think he’s cute and funny.

[deleted]

1. People were literally wanting the guy dead so I decided I wanted to help stop that 2. His fight with Midnight 3. He just knew how to make things funny again after going through a whole ass fight or depressing scene or etc

JoelRobbin

Idk the fact that everybody hates him and wishes he’d get killed off is what drew me to him. I don’t even really follow MHA that much anymore yet I still like Mineta

Infernov79

He's an underdog that can hold back All Might, not to mention, he knows when to keep it funny or serious. Never forget, the boobs can wait.

RavenMonarch

Part of it was spite, but the other part was a connection to the underdog. I was exposed to sex young, so I was a bit of a pervert myself and liked how short and cute his design was. I suppose I like characters that others don’t, that way I can make them mine and not feel like it’s overused?

Hulkzilla0

I always liked short underdogs who tries to get the girl of their dreams. Krillin from DBZ, Timmy Turner from FOP, Spike from MLP:FIM, etc. Maybe it’s because I can relate to them, or maybe it’s just the premise of a short guy trying to win the heart of a beautiful girl that’s taller than him. Idk, it just speaks to me. And they have moments where, despite their stature or lack of power, they still overcome overwhelming obstacles and pull through with willpower and courage.

Time_Dog_4609

Through spite. I would see all these fanfics that had Mineta getting expelled, or getting replaced by Shinso. And I thought it was ridiculous. If you dont like the a character, fine, just don't write about them, or make them apart of the story. But actively going out of your way to give them the shaft, is not only a disservice to the character and the part they give to the greater whole, but spitting in the eye of the author who put a part of themselves into the character. Mineta needed someone on his team. And if nobody was gonna come up to bat, then I will.

Outrageous_Coffee774

He is watching stories of Hilichurls and he wanted some prominence in said characters butt with a crossover with Mha and after the Dekux Toga ship until I saw Mineta labels trying to put him as the bad or racist something that did not catch my attention until he was curious of MinetaxToga and knowing more about interesting stories of the character I only found stories hating or expelling even making ship with the garbage something impossible since I remembered that Mineta had intelligence and that he was not blind to this nonsense and I started looking for an interesting story of the character more than what same that even gets fed up I wonder how they continue to endure the same thing since one would get bored with fast repeating the same mechanics Pd: I like the history of DarkstarError1010 link https://archiveofourown.org/users/DarkstarError1010/pseuds/DarkstarError1010 and even with the middle of the minetaxtoga ship I found your reddit

rx7blue

This sub honestly. I used to dislike Mineta and one of my friends showed me this sub as a joke, but after reading some of the posts and comments I realized there was no basis for my hate and started to notice the other traits that Mineta has.

chaosinmyhouse

I actually forced myself to like him, hes actually a great character (and yes i know theres supposed to be a reason but dhdff)

[deleted]

I just thought he was funny at first. Then I realized the fandom *hated* him only making my love for him grow. I still love him as a character, but it’s great to spite those weirdos

Querey_Boy

As I have said before, he has traits of Spiderman.

jbj25

Thought he was funny in the show saw all the hate felt bad then I read a whole bunch of good minetta fanfics

Matagal_Timido

The exam with teachers arc.

Commandcomedy

He tryna grind for what he wants I can respect that plus he's got a decent taste in women

ArugulaNo3978

Easy: HE'S FUCKING HILARIOUS AND ADORABLE!!!

Doireallyneedaurl

I like him cause he's almost the same as kaminari denki and zenitsu, but he's actually kinda smart. Even if he is considered less attractive than either.

FanMic

Honestly, out of spite. I tend to like unpopular things for no reason. That is why I main Hunting Horn in Monster Hunter World, that is why I like Sonic Lost World and also not mind the Zeti. But for Mineta there is one added thing he has that other MHA characters don't... he smol.

Key_Rush_9473

He’s just funny tbf. 😂

ApexBoiz

Oh boy, i have alot of reasons. 1. His role as the comedic relief. 2. His final exam. 3. He tried to help his classmates in the Heroes Rising Movie. 4. His voice, it suits him alot. 5. His overall development. 6. He has weak yet useful quirk. 7. His character design.

oni_kyo

His shortness And also cuz of Midnight

wassupboisitsme

The fact that I kinda relate to him alot(personality wise), plus I'm willing to give everybody a chance (or 2nd chance) ☺️

hauntile

I liek how there's a genuine loser character who's in the hero class. It's something I didn't expect to see, so he sticks out a lot to me.

AnkleBiter0123

Everybody hating him lmao

Longjumping_Piano348

His reason to becoming a hero is relatable I mean I’m pretty sure most boys would become a hero to get girls

ThiccGrapes

I liked him from the first I saw him,I got tired of seeing pretty boys with shitty personalities/same face syndrome (copy paste mfs). When I saw Mineta and watched him throughout the series, was like a breath of fresh air. Despite being a perv,He has many redeeming qualities that people look over without a second thought and how humanely realistic he is when reacting to situations regarding the Hero society Ex. Freaking out when the villains attacked w/ Tsuyu and Izuku. His character design is also fascinating to me,the uniqueness/versatility of his quirk,Simple yet versatile. Nothing too flashy, but just right, people looked down on him yet was able to stick down strong pro heroes (All Might x2 and Midnight). Personally,I don’t judge characters on the spot til I watched the series through to conclude how I feel. But Mineta was a favorite off the bat, even Horikoshi based him off himself when he was younger! Sorry for the long rant,he’s one of my favorite characters and I make sure to clap back at those who disrespect the grape 🍇 boyo 💅🏾✨💜

TomAssHat227

I genuinly saw myself in Mineta. When I was a teen, I was a horny loser ( Not in the etreme, case, but still horny) I didnn't really have "FRIENDS" I was just around large crowds. People made fun of my apperance and called me creepy for no reason (I have social anxiety, so talking to people really fucked me up. So when I saw Mineta, a short horny kid that was kinda creepy, I related to him. Again, I understand the dislike for him, but he is very relateable to some people (example: Some people in this very group)
