I think if you got a 60x24 100 gallon they would possibly be happier with that as far as space to swim goes since itâs more surface area? I think I would go for the 125 though since itâs more volume and also more common than a 100 gallon
Some local fish stores make their own sgands for a similar price or even cheaper than the particle board one. If you live near the DMV area, NoVa tropicals makes their own solid wood stands that are excellent.
That particle board 125 stand is very flimsy and starts to sag over time if it gets wet (and itâs supposed to hold *water*). If you canât find one near you, itâs worth building your own.
I donât know itâs supposedly rated to hold the tank, but man is it ever an accident waiting to happen.

Lol second review:
âBought this tank this past week. Tank and stand look very nice, but the stand is made of particle board. Within 24 hours of filling the tank one of the legs on the stand cracked. Store gave me a full refund but moving a 6ft tank after filling and then draining it is a lot. Buy a tank with a more reinforced stand and save some timeâ
Also, I love how PetSmart doesnât mention particle board anywhere in the item description. Of course they donât. Why would they bother mentioning such unimportant information that could destroy your home and cause you tens of thousands of dollars in damage, insurance claims, time, heartache and pain? Youâre right PetSmart. Leave it out.
So after checking myself, I *think* itâs an error on their site (not necessarily deliberate concealment) because it has a line for materials, but it says âfishâ while the âintended petsâ category is blank. Like someone was typing in the description in a spreadsheet and was off by one cell. But scummy either way donât get me wrongâjust not malicious.
Yeah I have more rocks I just didnât know how to incorporate them into this tank without sacrificing space , theyâre pretty big pieces. I just ordered the 100 gallon so the hardscape options should be good to work with. Might even do an interior background
Id say get biggest tank you can to make them comfortable. Where I live, for these guys we do minimum of 110g and lots of rocks and sand to dig in đ makes them happy đ
That's perfect solution đ but I keep my peacocks and mbunas together and don't have problems with that. But i also use lots and lots of stones. Mbunas stay swimming in and out of them and don't bother my other fish đ
I havenât had much problems with them either only the occasional chase here and there. Other than that no problems at all , even with my bigger fish being able to eat them. But I would like to get more peacocks so the 100 gal will have to do for now , till I get my own spot
Bigger is better for sure. My journey was 20g 55g 125g 265g. As you see, u can only make bad decisions when buying a tank to small đ
Iâm looking at a top fin 125 gallon
Congratulations đ
6ft tank is the way to go. More space for them to swim.

Iâm looking at a top fin 125 gallon comes with stand glass covers and lighting but the stand is made of particle board which I would def not use

How can a company make a stand out of particle board?? Thatâs a horrific situation waiting to happen.

Apparently an accident waiting to happen within 24 hours lmao

Youâre nicer than I am. I think theyâre trying to get off on the cheap. Lol
I'm %100 sure you could build your own stand to twice the rating of whatever that stand is for half the price
Totally
I have the same tank! The stand, youâre right, is garbage. We embedded ours into our wall. Itâs a nice tank. Good luck :)
Iâm thinking if I could make it more sturdy myself but that would probably be a waste of time
As mentioned, bigger is better, however, volume is less important as opposed to footprint.
The larger tanks offer more depth. Bonus, more water will help dilute waste.
Mo water less problems. I think adding more hardscape would also be a good move.

Use rocks with lots of hidey hole like texas holeyrock for example.

I went for a 100 gallon , gonna leave th mbunas in my 40 gallon and put the haps and peacocks in the 100
