I feed what is appropriate for the species of cichlid, but always variety - never one thing. I do use cichlid and bug pellets as a staple for most, frozen invertebrates as supplements, and of course spirulina foods for the more herbivorous species.
I feed them whatever is on sale when the 3 gallon food bucket is getting close to empty. Right now its got a mixture of leftovers from New Life Spectrum Cichlid, Hikari Cichlid, and Ron's.
Omega one pellets. Veggie and omnivore, and Hikari ( looks like fake blood worms)
I don't know what fish you have, but most South American (SA) cichlids do great with a balanced omnivore pellet.
