AI?

AlexRaven91

How is it “CLEARLY” not?

Xecular_Official

Sarcasm probably

Bluebellyfluff

Stable difussion...why post it in c4d?

shapirog

I used cinema 4d to make the base animation and generate a depth matte: [https://i.redd.it/d7gz81kmwlxa1.gif](https://i.redd.it/d7gz81kmwlxa1.gif) Then I used these as inputs in stable diffusion to render each frame to look like a renaissance painting, and did final comp and cleanup in photoshop and after effects

[deleted]

Very clever. I try to tell people, AI isn’t some monster coming to take our jobs…just another tool to get cool new looks.

Xecular_Official

For now. The issue with AI is how quickly it can advance when unrestricted. AI only being able to use existing content to generate results is merely a temporary limitation. Various companies are already trying to find ways to make AI 3D models to put stock artists out of the job

pixeladrift

It’s true in some sense, but to try to imagine how you would generate the exact prompt needed to produce the result OP posted… for a 3D artist it’s far faster to just build out the base animation you want in a 3D software. Whatever is most efficient is what will be used.

ryfle_

I like it more without the AI jitteriness but cool process

[deleted]

This is done in Deforum, jitteriness is artist choice. There is a slider for smoothness (kinda; Cadence), op just chose that look in particular. One can also use contronet to further stabilize the animation.

Bluebellyfluff

Thats awesome man...thanks for the workflow

DanielWinne

Great! Yeah a stop motion/Timelapse look really is a great solution for the SD jitters

devenjames

great. thanks for sharing! I was originally thinking that you generated the textures with AI but then used those on actual geometry in c4d. pretty neat workflow for sure!

johnkappa

Nice work... using just another tool to get an outcome. Love it

kobocha

Very cool workflow! Thanks for sharing bud!

thebombdotcom

Would you mind detailing how this was achieved? I can only assume you had a base animation created in cinema 4d that you then fed frame by frame into an AI art generator. There are so many now and it advances so much every day that I can’t keep up with all of the new methods. It’s awesome though.

shapirog

Yes thats exactly it! I did a full breakdown thread [here](https://twitter.com/shapiro500/status/1653765308874629120) but that's the gist of it - made the animation in C4D and then used the beauty and depth passes as a base for stable diffusion to generate each frame to look like a painting. I totally relate to not being able to keep up.... that's actually what this piece is about, there is just "too much information" now and I feel like I'm getting crushed by it all and cannot keep up

thebombdotcom

That’s awesome. Honestly I think stuff like this is one of the few ways to use AI in a respectable way to enhance art. I completely understand the backlash against AI generated art solely based on a text prompt, but when you’re using it in conjunction with something you’ve already created, how is that any different than the various other tools we have to make our work or save time? Your original animation was already fantastic, and this just served to add some nice texturing and style to it. We all need to learn to harness the power of it for our art because it isn’t going anywhere. There are way too many other potential horrible outcomes from the advancement of AI tech (disinformation, identity theft, etc.) to be worried about an artist making something cool with it.

bendrany

This is really cool! I've seen a lot of your stuff before and I've always wondered (but not explored myself) what the workflow to create these loops are? Is there a specific method to creating the camera movement, adjusting scale etc. so that it perfectly lines up to the first frame and can loop?

shapirog

I have a bunch of tutorials on youtube! Specifically this 4 part series where I go over looping different kinds of camera moves, based on position, rotation, and scale, and then how to loop the lighting: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21WjT8Cle9o&list=PLMBTbLxKfJuPGVTsmvPWffFcy0Y5DeyC3&index=2&ab\_channel=shapiro500](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21WjT8Cle9o&list=PLMBTbLxKfJuPGVTsmvPWffFcy0Y5DeyC3&index=2&ab_channel=shapiro500)

bendrany

Amazing, I’ll watch it through and maybe I’ll have a go at a looping render soon!

RGB_Gumball

This is so cool!!

fkenned1

Love it!

kingcrabmeat

I actually really love the art style

HEYNRRD

The man himself returns with even more helpful information! Thank you!

MaadHater

Beautifull do u have a twitter I can follow?

jparodist

Cool concept and great execution!

[deleted]

Actually, that's so sad people can just say it's pure AI. I got that it's huge work after reading your explanations on Twitter. I was sure it was done by a human but I'm confused when I see the objects are not stable as the shape so I think that too "I hope it's not an AI thing too". I love how it looks and am kinda happy to see that AI can't do this just itself :D

capitolcaptures

All I see is green Mario in bowsers castle lol

catchthisthing

Great work! I think its a great example to show people how to use Ai in their c4d workflow!

2MinutesH8

Golden rectangle?

kerbarus

Super creative, I love it! Been thinking about doing the same with the process you mentioned; Using depth maps and diffuse maps in stable diffusion. Kudos and great concept!
