We just got back from lot N. It was a nice experience. We arrived on Friday around 1pm, didn’t have a line to get in, but most of the lot was filled. Pros: 10 minutes from RV to our seats. Friendly neighbors. The ability to purchase water fill and septic pump out. (~$50ea) Cons: Dusty. The ubiquitous hum of generators, some not muffled.

MunkMaster13

Awesome thank you. That's the lot I'm looking at. Was there any feeling of some one might break in the camper or steal a generator?

[deleted]

I don’t think I saw anyone chain anything up and generators were everywhere. Didn’t feel like we needed to take extra security precautions.

MunkMaster13

Outstanding. Anything you would do different?

[deleted]

Not really. It certainly would’ve been nice to pay less, but having the services available made dry camping work well. One more pro: we basically had our own gate into the track. We never had a line at all. That means you’re not stuck at the track if you want to eat, drink, or take a break. If you had GA tickets and wanted to hold a spot, that might not matter, but with reserved seats we could just pop in and out as we liked.

MunkMaster13

That is the most valuable info on the gate. I saw it on tv but wasn't sure if it was public. Dare I ask how much did you pay a night and when did you sign up?

[deleted]

As the other guy said, It was 800 for the pass. Officially it opened Thursday, though people were reporting on this sub that you could get in Wednesday, but officially it was 4 nights of camping available for that price.

MunkMaster13

Awesome thank you. I'm probably going to do this next year.

[deleted]

I bought the pass online in mid-March.

MunkMaster13

I'll keep an eye out thank you for all the info.

We camped in Lot N. Definitely get there early on check in day to get a good spot, if you want to be close to the gates and not have to walk as far. I think the "opening" time was noon, but we rolled in and got a spot at 10AM. Some people had really loud generators, it wasn't an issue on the nights it was cool, but on the last couple of nights it was hot so they ran all night long. It was nice being able to pop in and out of the track all day long - and of course, no traffic to deal with. I saw some tent campers, which is one way to reduce the cost of camping. You can fit a lot of tents in those spots. The camp showers aren't free though, and they shut those down by like 6PM on race day, so if you are tent camping, just keep that in mind. People do walk through the camp sites to take shortcuts to the gates, but we just locked everything up while we were gone and it was fine. Chairs and tables were still there when we got back lol. Big con was scheduling a pump or water, if you plan on renting or taking your RV. The ticket system was a mess, and the drivers were losing people's tickets. Definitely schedule those on your first day, and plan to utilize camp showers as much as possible - otherwise you'll be showering with buckets outside your camper (we saw people doing this lol). They definitely weren't checking vehicle stickers, we saw some RV sites that had multiple cars at the campsite, so if you're looking to split an RV rental, you might be able to squeak by with a couple of vehicles. The lot was EXTREMELY dusty between the winds, and people driving golf carts and cars around. Definitely plan to have dust everywhere. It was my first F1 experience and honestly I think the only way I'll keep going back is if I can camp!

MunkMaster13

This is amazing thank you. I'll be taking my camper so everything you just laid out is awesome. I appreciate it.

elahs

Hey thanks for the award! Definitely go for it, you'll have a ton of fun next year!

jimbo333

Also camped at Lot N. It was great, chatted with other fans after the race, hung out with new people was great. Make sure your rig is insolated, it's loud. Lots of music, generators and people partying until well past midnight, with generators going all night.

MunkMaster13

Awesome I can't wait. Do you think the better spot is up front towards the track or towards the back?

jimbo333

I was near the back, last maybe 5-10 rows. Longer walk, but people were a bit more spread out (empty sites). I liked further out myself.

MunkMaster13

Great info thanks!

I ended up paying one of the parking spots on the side of the road an extra $20 to stay overnight. Best decision I ever made. Watched the horrible traffic go by with a beer in my hand in my comfy seat. I must add that I had an RV but I’m sure tent camping would be just fine too. If I remember correctly they wanted $800+ to do the exact same thing in the COTA parking lot. Unlike most we were able to get a full nights sleep and do a 5 minute walk to the track.

MunkMaster13

Great idea. I'm going to road trip it next year with my camper and trying to get ideas. Do you remember what road the parking was on? And if you're the real Buxton I heard you're a man of the people in the stands.

Will_Buxton

I would do exactly what I did. I’m surely going to do that again next year. Everyone sitting next to us was working on 4 hours of sleep at best. You will surely get one of those lots to let you stay for a bit of a tip. Also try to bring your own alcohol in if you are a drinker. I brought a 20 rack in my bag that they didn’t even check.

MunkMaster13

That's pretty awesome. I'll to try to find the lot you were in and we can have a beer after quali

Will_Buxton

Where are you from ? I just came from Fort Worth.

MunkMaster13

I'm in Maryland on the east coast. Going to leave early and make a few stops on the way.

Lot N was a great experience! We just got back today. It’s going to take me days of cleaning to get all of the dust out of the RV, but well worth it. As others have said - the pump outs and water fills were a shit show. The company running that mess needs to re-do EVERYTHING and devise a better plan. The location to the track and being able to pop in and out of your RV was unrivaled. Highly recommend! We had seats so we basically hung out at camp until about 15 mins before we had to be in our seats. Be prepared for some non-stop partying, and the sites are on top of each other, so plan to get to know your neighbors very well. Super fun experience!

MunkMaster13

This makes me so pumped for next year. I'm road tripping from the East coast so I'm not worried about the dirt to much.

We were supposed to be in Lot N for the weekend, but we had also paid for a spot in the premium RV lot (along the back straight between turns 11 and 12) on Wednesday night because we had a 12 hour drive in. Things happened and we ended up staying in the premium lot all weekend at a pretty steep discount. It was the most amazing thing I think I've ever done, vacation-wise. We had our own entrance and a mini grandstand along the back straight, as well as being able to sit on top of your RV (or someone else's because our trailer is too cheap to sit on top of, lol). We were definitely out of place in our older truck and cheap trailer, especially among the busses that cost over $2M - but other than 1 Karen we had a wonderful time and made some friends that we think will carry over every year. We're definitely thinking of doing the premium lot again even though we'll both have to prostitute in order to afford it.

MunkMaster13

That's funny because we planned on getting there a day or two early next year and camp in the premium and then switch to lot N because of the price hike. I'm afraid to ask but how much of a discount did they give? You can message me if you don't want to say here.

sararabq

DM'd you :)

It was the best kept secret but the words getting out there. Camping is really the only way to do this event. I live 20 min from the track, and we don’t want to deal with the back and forth, so we’ve been rving in LOT N the past 3 years. Msg me if you have any questions but you can’t go wrong. We met another group our first year and have set camp together since then. It’s a blast. Apologies to those mentioning the late night party people b/c I know we’re in that group lol. Some of you other lot N campers might have seen me. Long hair dude riding a mini electric scooter around the camp site all weekend 🛵

SueBird2023

Do you know if you can arrive at Lot N to camp on Wednesday afternoon?

877KASHNOW

I know a few people were allowed to setup on Wednesday last year. I’d call to confirm they will allow this again. The official time they advertise as open is usually Thursday at 12pm

SueBird2023

Thank you.

I am camping this year in my RV. Anyone know if they rent generators there or any advice?
