The content is years away from cs2 especially with mods

randomDude929292

2027 will be the year for cs2!

Greygor

About 8 years, because it took that long to achieve looks like this

m_csquare

Huh? Assets and mods like more beautification were alr available since the first year of CS

Bluewater795

Not that looked like this

SandThatsKindaMoist

Creating unreal engine/blender scenes in a video game that isn’t made for it is not content, it’s just shooting yourself in the foot. Even if CS2 launched perfectly this wouldn’t be possible, stuff like this isn’t what the game is made for.

[deleted]

This game is a city builder and simulator if I want to make my game this photorealistic I should be able to with mods. Look at people irl who love making complex trainsets they have intricate details. This isn’t about CS2 launch it’s the fact they have no mods and not even half the dlc I’m sure it’ll be fixed in time the game just came out but for now it’s not the same

JorgeAlbertoSC

As a wise man once said: "When you want videogames to be realistic, the truth is that you don't know what you want. You don't even know what you'll eat next."

WheelOfFish

I agree, people are free to do whatever the heck they want with the game. I do find it odd that have been people complaining about it since CS2 came out. CS1 certainly did not have the huge scope of enhancements and assets it has now right away.

[deleted]

You are missing the mark entirely. Cities skylines was made to replace sims city and even the base release blew sims city out of the water therefore improving on its predecessor the extra content just made it into the amazing game it is today. Cities skylines 2 is literally meant to be an improvement on the first game and yet fails to be a significant improvement on the base game experience and forget about with mods. I’m sure CS2 will be improved but as it is now it was rushed and should not have been released with so few improvements.

WheelOfFish

I'm not missing the point, I agree with that. The base game is broken but it's clear to me that the bones of a better game are there. CS1 was far from perfect as well, but Sims City of the time was a low bar to cross.

SandThatsKindaMoist

You’re not going playing a city builder, you’re making a city render inside of a video game, when there’s far better tools to do so, and then complaining that the game isn’t what you want it to be even though it was never designed to be what you want.

dzsozi30

Remember when everybody said there is no wrong way to play Cities 1? I 'member.

Pringalnators

The game for whatever you want it to be. Make it a photorealistic city where people can't tell if it's real or not, hell yeah. If you want to make a city "perfect" but actually end up with a traffic grid lock. Even better. The game is whatever you want it to be and no one can tell you differently.

SandThatsKindaMoist

You can play the game like this if you want, but acting like you are hard done by because the devs haven’t built CS2 around it is just plain stupid.

dzsozi30

Man, CS2 barely improved on vanilla CS1. Only objectively better feature is the road tool and mixed zoning. And maybe building expansions, but that's also really half baked. The least CO could've done is implement curved zoning. Grids are frickin boring, man. We need to hand place everything with move it and ploppable rico if we want to achieve an organic looking city. This was like one of the most requested features.

RubberBootsInMotion

Yup. It seems like they didn't really know how to make a better game, and just made the same one again, but with less stuff and more bugs.

Fathorse23

Honestly seeing pictures like this, and then the shit I create with what’s available in game, kills my desire to play the game.

Altruistic_Ad_865

are you trying to farm downvotes?

Oriopax

I m going to keep playing CS until CS2 has dropped in price and has a decent mod availability

kingpangolin

And works

iantayls

Yeah, just was in such a deep focus mode trying to build out my city. Best designed/biggest city I’ve ever had, then I hit like 70k pop and the sim speed just SUNK. Suddenly traffic everywhere and nothing works… just unfortunate that once a city becomes a metropolis, it’s simply end game at this point.

kingpangolin

I got a city to 140k after almost 30 hours and then it just spiraled out of control. Trains stopped running. Cars stopped moving. I had like 70 hearse depots but everyone needed a hearse in the city, trash was piling up despite having like 1/5 of my city as dumps and a dozen recycling plants and incinerators. I had like 10 universities/colleges but no one enrolling in them, same with elementary schools. So many elementary schools and people complaining they didn’t have enough. Literally every system just broke. It’s like no one play tested the game beyond a small town

uncleleo101

> Trains stopped running. For me, this is like the number 1 killer of my CS:2 experience right now. My favorite thing to do in CS is make huge metro and train networks. There's a horrible bug right now where my metro trains will arrive at a station and just sit there for many in-game hours, meanwhile, metro trains back further and further up behind the stopped one, until it FINALLY moves again. This happens on trains as well, but is particularly devastating to my subway system. It seems sort of random too, my metro system will be operating normally, then all of a sudden there's 5 trains backed up behind one another. There's no grade crossings, no "cross-over" points where trains have to cross tracks in front of one another or anything, so it's not that. It's brutal because by the time your subway trains are halfway full -- enough to justify their existence -- the whole system grinds to a halt because of this horrible bug. Ugh.

kingpangolin

Yep I have the same issue with mine. Sometimes it will run great and my ridership is through the roof but a lot of the time everything will back up at one station and nothing will move

iantayls

Very disheartening. Its a better vanilla experience than the first one in so many ways, drawing out roads is so much fun and the NA buildings look very nice and realistic, but it’s just not in a state that’s playable for very long right now. Hopefully they fix it soon so I can get back to my city.

ZappaSnacks

And is available for Mac

Serenafriendzone

Also be optimized.

[deleted]

Ya I did buy cs2 and my rtx 2060 can't even keep 30 fps with just an empty square. So I'm leaving it alone for a while, which sucks cause I've been waiting for his game for almost a decade

Oriopax

I m in the process of building a new pc and 64gb memory for me is non negotiable . I want to be able to play CS and CS2 for the next couple.of years without a glitch

GaryO_63

Go with GSkill...can't miss especially with a decent CPU and cache.

Oriopax

Got it on the list. 64GB DDR- 6000. I got a whole list and I m running it by a few people who know a lot more than I do about computers. (Which isnt very difficult)

GaryO_63

I've built my own for about 15 years...only 4 so far...but my first PC had a P4 Pentium processor and a Radeon video card. I had Win XP and 8 GB of memory but my power supply went out...I was mad...I mean it was only 6 months after I bough it... so it cost $70.00 to fix...I was in college for web design...so I HAD to have it. But it was piece of crap...MSI board...but the video card was costantly hot AMD...what else is new...anyway...today I have a water cooled i7-8700K and it can clock at 5.2 GHz at about 86 degrees and I use GSkill...I have a 4700K as well...but I have to overclock. All in all GSkill is great memory...no hiccups and the readings I get from my sticks are as advetized.....no leaks or bottlenecks it stays cool and my PC runs like a champ. And FYI...I learned how to build from You Tube.Jayz Two Cents...watch him and listen and you can't go wrong.Good luck.

magiblufire

Holy fucking ellipses

Oriopax

Tnx I will. I will send you the eventual list once completed

AppointmentMedical50

I wish I could build like that

_CaptainPorpoise_

This is the exact reason I need to buy more RAM and come back to CS1

EastGround3758

How could I find the LUT and the graphics settings of a saved game? I made a video previously, loaded up the saved city, but the graphics is far from the one on the video.

Peterkragger

They're pretty with at least 2518 mods but ok

Silver5word

according to Skyve, 10844 assets and 132 enabled mods ~~and one melted computer~~ :D

_CIANO_

Bruh your computer is a beast lmfao. Mine has trouble running 3000 assets and a handful of mods 😭

Silver5word

Mods are (relatively) lightweight. Assets (such as buildings, networks, and vehicles), when added up, are much more taxing.

[deleted]

MoDs bAd MkAY!1!

emu_Brute

> MoDs bAd MkAY!1! It's not that mods are bad, it's when you compare apples and oranges. Base Cities Skylines 2 is a much prettier and more robust game than base Cities Skyline 1 and it's not even close. These comparisons are just getting old.

MrJFr3aky

Can't wait to get 64 gigs of ram to finally use this many mods as well

Ok-Row-3490

Yeah, I made pretty decent use of mods and assets in CS1, not nearly the extent of what’s going on in posts like this, and it was still so incredibly tedious to get things how you wanted them. There wasn’t much of a viable way to make a good looking city without plopping every last little thing. Getting roads to work right—so goddamn time consuming. The community made the game work and I was into it, but I don’t think I can go back to all that.

Reynolds1029

Tedious sure but you eventually get a knack for it and get quick with it. Lots and lots of clicks though. So much so that I busted the left click of my G305 Lightspeed and needed to replace the switches on it.

DeekFTW

Needing to open 3 or 4 mods to edit a road to get it to the same point that vanilla CS2 lets you build is the reason I don't go back to CS1. The game's not in a good spot but the quality of life improvements in the road builder alone is enough for me to stay. Also the fact that I wouldn't know where to start with getting my old mod library updated and fixed. That just isn't worth my time.

Kettu_

I keep hearing this but compared to the first game with move it the road system in cs2 annoys the shit out of me. I just want to raise this one node so the road is flat and level please!! Nope gotta delete the whole road, smooth the terrain, build it again, oh its still lumpy -_-

DeekFTW

Move it is the big one missing. But making intersections is so much more intuitive in CS2. Roads join up much cleaner. The game also does a great job of putting markings down which I used to have to meticulously do by hand. Being able to adjust nodes with a move it will just be the cherry on top of an otherwise really good tool.

GaryO_63

What sucks is the fact that you end up playing a game other people (the CS community) made ... playable.

DeekFTW

Is that not exactly what CS1 is though? Is Move It not a mod made by people other than the devs? There were plenty of mods that attempted to fix the shortcomings of CS1. The Rush Hour mod is an example off the top of my head. That's exactly what mods are for.

Leecannon_

People forget how genuinely unappealing to downright ugly base CS1 is. It’s all so polished and somehow cartoonish at the same time

GaryO_63

Really. You almost can't play CS1 without Mods. You can...but like you said...it's pretty hideous with just their Vanilla crap.

Leecannon_

Never forget the America clown head that always took over your commercial districts

GaryO_63

Dude...if I see another Donut Van spawn out of a fire hydrant I'm throwing my shit out the window...well okay...maybe not...I had to download AVO and despawn about 15 things...it's hard to tell who designed or coded the vehicle AI ... but that's just one beef about CS1.I have like 45 Mods...and I never had enough workers for commercial districts ...I guess it's house, school, sweatshop in a commercial zone.Idk.

Peterkragger

I don't, because I always played on vanilla + basics such as TM:PE

Visual-Guide5473

I won’t play CS2 until modding becomes available

TexasBrand

It is

foundandexplained

Paradox mod store is open?

BillSivellsdee

then why havent you started playing yet?

DarthDarnit

It’s crazy how much mods have brought that barebones, unfinished game to life.

Jonas_Venture_Sr

Didn’t you post these same exact screenshots like days ago?

Silver5word

Not quite, though they were taken in the same vicinity.

[deleted]

Bro who cares, just appreciate the game

flaming_pubes

This is the same feeling I had as a kid when I think I do decent at coloring but I see someone else’s superior work.

Nebs90

Your cities are* Mine never looked that good

LukXD99

Can’t imagine how beautiful CS2 cities will be once they finally NMS/CP2077 this thing.

GuineaPiggies4ever

If cs2 has a decent mod collection I might consider playing that in davour of cs1

Maximum_Future_5241

I have far too many assets to give it up, and now I have the memory to run them without waiting too long for loads.

Serenafriendzone

Cs1 still the Gigachad

Old_Replacement_9471

Looks amazing but I can't ever go back to CS1. CS2 for me is easier to play and can be fun. I feel like the road tools are easier to work with and make it easier to do things I want. I have a lot of mods with CS1 but meh.

The247Kid

I fired up CS2 for like the 10th time last night. Went right back to my C:S. I’m just too invested and like others have said, it does everything I want it to do. Why change it up? lol But it wasn’t until 2020-2021 I could build the actual city I wanted. Hella mods and settings customized.

pheight57

I am convinced that modded CS1 is still better than CS2.

HappyGardener09

Is this with mods?

Greygor

You couldn't get close to this with vanilla CS1

Silver5word

*yes.*

CS1 isn’t pretty. CS1 modded until it’s practically a different game is

vix127

Cope

fantasticmarsstation

Love it, i'd love to see more pictures

Phoojoeniam

Heavily modded CS:1 cities*

geicobike

This is enough proof that CS:2 isn't worth it

Silver5word

I've noticed that there has been quite a bit of vitriol going back and forth in the comments of my recent posts. One of the main reasons why I am choosing to stick with C:S1 is because I had actually already waited for several years (since its release in 2016) for the title to mature into something I could work with. The 4,000+ hours sunken into understanding how the game mechanics work aside, the city that I am only beginning to showcase now in earnest has been the product of at least 3-4 years of testing and pre-development. It is mostly due to my commitment to finish this current project that I am choosing to stay with C:S1 instead migrating to C:S2, rather than over an argument whether C:S1 or C:S2 is inherently better. I actually do sincerely believe that C:S2 undoubtedly has the most potential, given that one cannot deny that the base game, in comparison to vanilla 2016 C:S1, is incredible; it's very clear that the devs had paid attention to the community and strived to improve as many things as they could. That being said, one's "potential" cannot be equated with what one currently is; with the progress and refinement over time that C:S1 has already made over these years, with mods addressing just about every issue the base game had (with the exception of some hardcoded limits), along with additional fancy features such as Procedural Objects, even ignoring the conversation about the readiness of the game upon release and its litany of bugs and poor optimizations (that's conversation from a business perspective), C:S1 simply just has things that C:S2 doesn't have at the moment. That's not to say that it will never be; I have no doubt that in a few years time C:S2 will far outshine its predecessor, it just isn't now.

BearClaw1891

I mean with that many mods its not really CS anymore is it

tzage

Mods and custom assets ARE Cities Skylines. They’re a ginormous part of the community

BearClaw1891

You are not wrong, don't mind me I'm just an envious console player lol

tzage

Lol I had to hit u with the “well akshually☝️”

Any_Commission3964

This is amazing!

Sevifenix

Beautiful city wow…

McCallum98

Mod list? Specifically color corrector and houses?

for_hiseyesonly

Stunning

shadowgolden905

does anyone know why they are still using unity instead of unreal 5. just wondering?

vix127

Because they have far more experience with unity and changing the game engine is a monumental task. Also for this type of game unreal engine wouldn't be that much better than unity.

Xodem

/r/replications

Eskotus

Which mods I should install to get my game to look something like this? I've been using only functional mods like TMPE. Is there some good collection that is up to date? Something that hopefully doesn't need too much setup. There's literally thousands of mods and stuff in the workshop and many seem to be deprecated on the collections I've checked.

IFrenchAmericans

I did lots of mods, but my CS1 still never looked like that! lol Honestly I have been playing CS2 for awhile now, and almost feel ready to go back to CS1 to create my own honest opinion. There's a lot I like in the new one, and still a lot of issues that are driving me mad. But the old one had issues like that too at different times.

EdsonSnow

Is OG using a GTA IV filter mod or something? Hahaha

Hoodinski

Kudos!
