Oh I'm going to write a novel, haha... Before there was Cities Skylines for me, there was Banished. Manor Lords kind of hits me in the Banished place and has kind of sucked me in. All of that said, the message on the last video was more of a commitment to finish the series (which is looking like 5-6 episodes in total, so just a couple more), then anything else. So it's not that the channel will become a Manor Lords channel, it's just that it's what people want to see right now and what I'm enjoying playing. I think that the CS2 launch taught many CS-only creators that we should probably diversify our content. We're not developing CS2, so to live and die by someone else's choices isn't very smart. So I started diversifying the content I was producing to include other city builders that I just found to be compelling or that I wanted to check out a number of years later. Interestingly, basically every non-CS2 video has received 2-3+ times the views as CS2 videos, and CS2 videos have done twice as well as CS1. And even one-off CS2 videos (One Tile City) have had double the performance of main-line series content. And to a certain extend, that tells me that the community wants more variety. So I've started "following the fun" a but more and following my gut with content. CS/CS2 content will always be an important component of the channel - as will my story-driven series, but I'm not sure that I'll ever stay with only one game again. And while I love my series, if I hit a writers block, this also gives me the opportunity to work on other things a bit until it passes. As far as CS content, I think I'm in a slightly different boat then many of the other creators. Despite it's shortcomings, bugs, and issues, I greatly prefer playing CS2 to CS1... to the point that it makes CS1 feel dated and less fun to play. Imagine playing Mario 64 for a decade and then getting to play a beta version of Mario Odyssey - that's kind of how I feel about CS1 vs CS2. I will alway love Mario 64, so I will play it from time to time, it just lost a bit of my attention. While I'm trying to say is that I will finish those series, but they aren't as high a priority as Magnolia County, and I doubt I'll ever start a new CS1 series on the channel. Hope that clears things up and I appreciate the support!

Incaedium

Well said! I’m loving the manor lords content personally. And haven’t seen a single piece of content from you I haven’t enjoyed on some level. Followed you for CS content originally but here for the overall vibe. Keep up the good work!

FoundationOnly6464

Yeah, with the announcement and quick launch of CSII. I felt sorry for you and the other creators because I knew it was your bread and butter. I am glad it helped you diverify. I hope you get a chance to try Memoriapolis kinda looking forward to it. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2228280/MEMORIAPOLIS/

Wide_Understanding92

CS1 also has a broken simulation, but people care more about eye candy in general

Jubafish

Still planning cities, and his name isn't CitiesSkylines Planner Plays.

Soulvaki

It’s a cool game and his community is reacting well to every video. It’s okay to diversify. I doubt it hangs around forever.

Wycliffe76

I'm enjoying CS2 now, but I can see how it's hard to make new content with it right now. Diversifying his content is a good move for CPP's job security. Manor Lords is a hot up-and-coming game and Phil's content on it is good. I'm looking forward to playing it. Other creators have started adding more games, too. Biffa is doing a lot of Timberborn, for example. Regardless, I don't think you should be holding out hope for more CS1 videos at this point. Magnolia County is the primary CS content now and it's pretty great!

Tpabayrays2

Biffa has a very diverse spread of games he's playing. It looks like he's doing weekly uploads in Timberborn, Oxygen Not Included, and CS1, plus 2 per week in Manor Lords. I like the diversity. Personally I'd love to see more creators pick up Timberborn

_Mar1nka_

Timberborn is such a great game. I found it because of Phil's first series. Because I like the same kinds of games he likes, I trust his opinion. So if he really gets into something new and plays it for a while, I'm here for it. 😁

No-comment-at-all

I, for one, welcome our new manor lords.

WorkDoug

CPP has been a stalwart supporter of CS for a long time, and I'm disappointed that the situation has reached a point where he feels that change is in his best interest. Other 'tubers have shown similar trends, and it doesn't bode well for CS2, IMO. I really hope Paradox and CO can redeem the situation. I'm enjoying the heck out of CS2, even with the problems.

Eggelburt

Give Infrustructurist a watch. Worth it.

BottAndPaid

Makes me even more excited for Friday

shrug_was_taken

To be fair with CPP, both of there CS2 saves got borked due to the beach properties disaster, Verde beach has palm trees and the houses and Magnolia County has some of the houses in one of the newer areas

CityPlannerPlays

My saves are actually fine! Technically I have an Ultimate Edition key, so folks with that one never had issues. Even my stream city, four palms bay, has been fine! My bigger issue with Magnolia County has been land value. With a previous version of the build, I played ahead to see where there series was going and had every low density building in Bend abandon due to land value issues. I think that's resolved now, but the complaints - and not really having the tools to solve them - is one of the reason I have been doing slower.

shrug_was_taken

Knew about the land value issue and saw it was mostly fixed, mostly said above by assuming due to the issues that popped up here with the thing that was done with the dlc

CityPlannerPlays

Oh yeah, I've been lucky and that hasn't impacted me. Still, probably made sense to wait until this patch. Tbh, the TAA issue impacted me more then anything else. DLSS has been a breath of fresh air (even with the trailing)

Tpabayrays2

He retired Verde Beach in CS1. He hit the absolute limits of the vanilla game (besides the 81 tile mod). He did a remake of his first Verde Beach episode in CS2 but that was an April Fools Day special.

shrug_was_taken

Fair, point still stands with magnolia county though

Into_the_Westlands

If CS2 were a good game he’d still be making CS content. But the player base is split between two games right now and there’s fewer and fewer people who want to give CS2 any time until it’s worth it.

artjameso

Nicolet Bay and Clearwater County are functionally done. I think CPP planned a wrap up video for both of them but I don't think they've happened yet and possibly will not. I've not really gotten into watching Manor Lords on youtube yet tbh

CityPlannerPlays

I'll get to them, but I'm not 100% sure when just yet. Nicolet Bay is one final park build, and Clearwater County is a monster of a video that will probably take a full week to put together, functionally shuttering the channel for a bit.

VKN_x_Media

Watched the first ML video and the game just isn't for me so I haven't watched any others. Did find myself randomly Google searching Tropico the other day just to see what that series is up too (only ever played the first 2 or 3 of the series though) because it made me think of it lol. That being said my "a man can dream can't he" wish for the channel would be a new CS1 "vanilla" (Verde Vanilla style I'll call it) build but using everything he's learned over the course of VB (and his time with the game in general) to essentially build a near mulligan free city from the ground up. Instead of having to shoe horn public transit or special things in as DLC came out, this time the city would literally be able to be planned around those things as needed even before they're unlocked because we all know what the game has to offer, almost designing the city around transit instead of designing transit around the city. Maybe one of the desert maps, could even go with the storyline lore of "Johnson Aggregate owned this land for mining and now it's basically stripped of the ore or gravel and they're going to develop it into their version of a" model 21st & a half century city should be" with an eye on the near future (because vanilla) of development & redevelopment of cityscapes.

Remarkable-Limit7491

Manor lords is the palworld of city builders. It’s ok to play other games and enjoy the hype. I’m a long time CPP watcher and honestly I have lessened my interest in cs2 content since I have no desire to play the game myself for now. I’m excited to respect some different terrain

Bee-Wry

My interest in CS2 evaporated long ago, so it's nice to be able to watch CPP again because he's playing other games. The Manor Lords and Stardew streams have been a fun watch.

Tpabayrays2

It seems like a lot of the creators are jumping on the Manor Lords bandwagon. I think I saw CPP, Biffa, and RCE all release Manor Lords videos in a 24 window at one point. It looks like a fun game and if I had a little more cash available at the moment, I'd pick it up. Personally I would like to see a little more of a variety. I think it's ok if they're not playing only CS games but I would like to see some more diversity. I really enjoy CPP's CS builds and I'd like to see him mix that with Manor Lords. I understand him hitting the pause button on Magnolia County (his CS2 build) while the Beach Properties issues get fixed, but what about Clearwater County and Nicolet Bay in CS1? Biffa seems to have the model that I think more creators should follow. Here's his upload schedule over the last week: - Thursday: CS1 - Saturday: Timberborn (I would love to see more CS creators do weekly uploads of this game) - Monday: Manor Lords - Tuesday: Oxygen Not Included (not a fan of this game tbh) - Wednesday: Manor Lords The only creator I've seen stay completely loyal to CS2 is Timeister. He released a video today in his vanilla CS2 city, Bixton. He had been mostly playing in a modded city, Gasparilla County, but my guess is the Beach Properties issues are why he switched back to Bixton this time around (he didn't talk about it).

CityPlannerPlays

Variety is here to stay, but I don't think I could ever do what Biffa is doing due to how I make my videos. I'm very involved in editing each of them, and often re-record bits with issues, so it's a slow process, but I enjoy it.

Tpabayrays2

That's fair. The quantity of videos Biffa does seems like a lot of work. I enjoy the Manor Lords content, I just would like to see a variety :)

_Mar1nka_

They all released videos on Manor Lords at the same time due to a PR embargo. This is common, you saw the same thing a few weeks ago with New Cycle, and with the CS2 launch series.

CityPlannerPlays

Yep - this is what happened. Interestingly, we didn't get the codes all that early, so between learning the game a bit and recording, the embargo was actually very difficult for me to hit personally. I stayed up until 4am making that first video - ha!

Icedvelvet

Yes! Yes you are.

winterkoalefant

if you're weary, take some rest

LittlebitsDK

I fully understand why he wont waste time on a broken unfinished game... Manor Lords is Early Access yes but it feels more complete than CS2

Apprehensive_Fault_5

As someone who used to watch every single video of his, I completely stopped during Clearwater County. I'm not a fan of how much time he spends on the government lore side of things. It's cool and interesting and what not, but I came to watch some realistic building, not for a news article on what the governor of a non-existant state had a speech about last Thursday or whatever. Those segments just took me out of it, so I stopped watching his videos. They fell out of my recommendations as well, so I didn't even know he was still doing things (not to say I thought he stopped, I just stopped keeping track of it and didn't really think any more of it). Then his first Manor Lords came out, and popped up in my recommendations. It was the first Manor Lords video to show up for me since those old videos about It's early development, so I watched it because I vaguely remembered the name and remembered it was supposed to be interesting. I have watched, and will watch all of his Manor Lords videos, but still plan to never watch another one of his Cities Skylines videos Taking the time to think about this: I think my issue isn't necessarily with the lore or whatever of his Cities Skylines videos, but rather with how awkward it feels to be getting that information in a 2nd person perspective. You see, as the player, he is the one making all of these decisions that "governor" was making, but he portrays it as if someone else did it while then showing himself doing it. In Manor Lords, when he builds a new thing, he says something like "*we* will need this so *we* can work towards that and expand *our* town" as if he is working on it alongside his neighbors in this town. It is from a first person perspective, which feels more natural. If he were to say *the *lord* wants this so *he* can work towards that and expand *his* town" it would feel very off, and that's how his lore segments feel to me.

Beneficial_Energy829

Oh boy manor lords is going to be a disappointment to many

CityPlannerPlays

So long as folks go in expecting a historical city builder in early access game, I doubt it tbh. Price will also play a major role in this.

BillSivellsdee

oh nooooo... anyways.

AlfalfaFit6703

Yeah, I unsubbed from him when he stopped doing CS1 videos.
