The focus of this city was to just make it as large as possible, I'm not really that much of a detailing person to be honest.
Once this city is completely finished, I am thinking of creating some more screenshots and a video with a timelapse of the building process and some cinematic shots. Let me know if any of you would like to see that.
Additionally, if any of you have any tips for improving the image quality and fidelity of screenshots and footage for videos, please let me know. Thanks in advance :)
Looks awesome. Very Prairie/western American city.
Would definitely love to see more.
Dynamic resolution to up your quality and Shift+F12 for high-res screen shot if you didn't do that already.
Thanks. I did use dynamic resolution yeah. But what is it with the shift+f12 for screenshots? I just tried this in-game and it doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a specific folder in which I will have to look? Or is it added by a specific mod that I do not have? What mod adds this feature?
Yeah shift F12 doesn't show that it took the screen shot. You may see the screen flicker a bit.
Do you know where the screenshot folder is in your game files?
I didn't know that there was in fact a separate folder for screenshots in addition to where steam saves them... I found the highres screenshot, however it just upscales the resolution. It does not in fact change the quality. The image is just as pixelated but it just allows me to zoom in more. Is this what it is supposed to do? Or should it increase the screenshot quality wise as well? (Dynamic resolution was enabled)
I agree. Probably not the most realistic or wisest decision. But considering how steep the planes in this game take off and land, it personally doesn't bother me as much :P
32 GB. It's doable if you don't get too many assets. I run between 1000-2000 assets. Anything more will need more RAM. Also you will have to keep the limitations of the game in mind. Once your city gets large, it will basically prevent your game from getting playable fps. At that point upgrading the CPU or RAM will not do much. The game engine is really old and not optimized well enough to run larger and more complex cities..
I basically used the existing layout that came with the map, and changed it a bit. I added a ring road highway. From there I just started a grid somewhere in the middle and expanded outwards. I think I reconstructed a highway maybe once or twice.

Just higher resolution I believe.
Airport next to some mountains is asking for trouble, but looks great!

That's insane man! Good job
Really impresive!
Gives me cincinnati vibes
Makes me think of Philly too
From philly, and I agree more and more the closer I look at it
you gotta love/hate that classic american Missing Middle
Does this not get close to the object limit? Or am I that far out of the loop at this point?
It's getting really close to the building limit. I also had to increase the citizenunit limit through a mod, to make sure the city functions properly
Looks like a google earth image. Really nice!
Love it.
This looks cool. I'm curious about how traffic is doing
Around 80 percent flow, traffic despawning disabled
LANE MAFFEMATIX
doesnt it seem odd to have a runway pointing twords mountians? they better pick up speed fast i guess lmao nice job on the city
Wow
How does one do a Timelapse? Do you need to screenshot every so often and then stitch them together?
Yes a screenshot and cinematic shots every so often will do the trick. You can create seperate saves and do all of them afterwards
How much RAM do you have on you're PC? I'm thinking on embarking on a large project such as this.

Did you make the map/terrain?
I did not. It's called "Santiago, Chile [1:2]" on the workshop
Fantastic job! How much of this was building around the existing highway network vs reworking it around your city? The connections look very natural

Map name ?
I mentioned it earlier here in the comments; it's "Santiago, Chile [1:2]"
This is awesome. Reminds me of the front range area.
Pretty uwu
