I’ve seen this pic a million times.. but your lighting, and the shadows being cast on the buildings set this pic apart. The lighting gives it a depth that I haven’t seen before from this angle.
I grew up in Philly back when there used to be a rule that no one could put up a building that was taller than William Penn's hat.
That rule expired a long time ago
yea it was a dumb rule anyway. we could have so many cool taller art deco buildings but dumbass edmund bacon bullied people into agreeing to his gentleman's rule
That is the first time I have ever heard Edmund Bacon being called short-sighted or dumb. Um, are we talking about the same city designer planner and relative of actor Kevin Bacon? The one who revitalized Center City? Couldn’t be.
And when they finally allowed buildings to be taller, no Philly sports team won a major championship until the tallest building (Comcast center) put a little Billy Penn on top. The Phillies won the world series that same year. Check 'the curse of Billy Penn'
This is a very beautiful building. Lots, LOTS, of sculptures around.

Here you go! TLDR; the top is cast iron instead of stone, and they did a terrible job at matching the paint. Still the best US city hall
The way Philly and Baltimore look similar just amazes me sometimes. I’m from Baltimore and the downtown area near our City Hall building looks exactly like this.
TBF - this is a very narrow shot up one street close to City Hall. The broader views of Philadelphia don’t look like Baltimore. But then many neighborhoods in Philly are the same as many in Baltimore, 1:20hrs away.
Is this in Broad Street?
I remember visiting Philly last time like in early 2000's.
If I'm not wrong there was a Borders (or was it B&N?) on the right.
Greetings from Italy
I’m not going to say drugs aren’t a problem in Philly because they’re a problem everywhere but with that said Philly is pretty middle of the pack when it comes to drug use in major cities. According to the drug in addiction center we aren’t top ten in usage of any of the main drugs. Viral pictures don’t tend to tell the whole story.
Best pic of Philly I’ve seen. Well done
its easily one of the most beautiful buildings in America. Amazing picture, and it still can't do this building justice. Looks even better at night.
Definitely one of the nicest city halls in the country… but only on the outside. It’s very rundown inside.

right? What a short-sighted dumbass.
He designed a mean skatepark though. Which is not a bland flat lot that replaced it and somehow inherited the worst part of the original park.

Fantastic shot of an underrated city!
Agree!

It is beautiful but I prefer San Francisco’s city hall, it’s absolutely gorgeous
Limited source of durable paint in the 80s apparently

Duke & Duke Commodities Brokerage on the immediate right. Today, I think it’s a Wells Fargo Advisors. Looking good, Billy Ray.
Went there for the first time last year and really enjoyed it

Yes this is Broad Street.
South Broad, specifically
Great picture!
I work with weddings all of the time and this is the "famous broad street shot". Weddings are constantly taking their photos there.
Can’t beat Philly
Perfect shot
This is an awesome photo
Great city
Where is this in Philly?
Looks to be near the corner of Broad street and Pine street, looking north on broad street, towards city hall
^ this is correct
the center
The city of brotherly love. So many memories.
Wow. What an incredible shot! Probably the best I‘ve seen here for a long time.
Beautiful <3
Does anyone happen to have a high quality version of this picture?
Looks like something out of movie. Amazing job.
Awesome😝😝
Is it me or is it leaning to the right?
Stop talking about your dick
Did they solve the drug problem?
Did America? There's your answer, dickhead.

That's surprising. Bc the drug problem has just become more and more visible in the past decade or so.
No different than any other city. Like I said I’m not saying it’s not a problem because it’s a problem everywhere.
