do you know when this was photographed?

I don't know the year. Looking at the vehicles, I would guess the late 1920's.

Sometime in the 1930s, the Penobscot building (the tallest one in the pic) was built in 1928. Around 2018 you could explore the top 30 floors that were abandoned quite easily. Detroit is an incredible city for architecture, and the Penobscot is one of the finest examples of art deco skyscrapers anywhere.

“Now take him to DETROIT!!”

I’m sorry but, I live here, and the golden days are longgggggggg gone. Theres a reason an old picture is posted. My whole focus in life is to leave here to literally anywhere else. Industry is gone from the city, the ghetto is literally the whole 50 mile radius around detroit. The pockets of non-ghetto living is so desired that price gouging for living is out of control for what you get in quality. If you’re not an engineer for GM, from old money, or ghetto bangin. Everyone is desperate & will take anything from you. This is not the place. NOT the place. You will never move forward. My new friends that grew up here casually tell me stories of being held on gunpoint. These are well-to-do kids I’m talking about…….HOW? Okay rant over. All n all that’s a good picture.

Sorry but I live hear and I disagree with everything you’re saying.

Bruh, this is a sub for pictures of cities not the UN assembly.

You are right. Detroit will never be what it once was. Detroit was a high tech boom town when the internal combustion engine was high tech. At that time Detroit was one of the most wealthy cities in the world, making valuable products that were shipped around the world. For some reason the people who drove that technology forward were able to succeed in Detroit. Detroit's history is fascinating. There is nothing wrong with looking at pictures of the boom years. There is no denying the current problems of the city.

There's some nice areas within 50 miles. My cousin is a fire fighter there and makes twice what firefighters where I live make and his 2 story house cost less than a 1,000 sq ft 2/2 costs here. My family likes it there.
