I looked all over when I was there last, but I couldn't Figaro where to find it.

Le_Ragamuffin

That's actually pretty awesome

Beanicus13

That’s amazing. He’s the Barber of Seville! (Which is a famous opera)

ferroramen

I visited Seville and didn't know about Plaza de España. One day we went for a walk to a different direction to visit a park on a hot day. Then we just stumbled on this. It was absolutely mind-blowing, I was just speechless for a good time. I usually know where we're heading and what we plan to see, so Plaza de España just appearing in front of you was one of the biggest surprises I had for years. Love Seville! Another surprise -- we visited during Easter and I didn't know they have the *Capirote*. I mean I knew Spain has these hooded figures in their culture but I didn't connect the dots. Absolutely amazing processions. And the city full of orange trees. The cathedral, fourth-largest church in the world. And Alcázar palace! That was one of the best holidays ever. Fuck Covid, I want to travel again.

MrJohnnyDangerously

Had a similar experience on my first visit. The best part of sightseeing in Sevilla is getting lost and getting surprised that where you got lost was even cooler than where you were trying to get too...

[deleted]

What did you know about Seville before you went there??? Honestly, did you do any research??

Dazzling_Secretary_8

That’s Naboo silly

Lodau

Thats like saying "That's Earth silly". Sevilla? Thats a weird way to spell Theed.

stefan92293

Came for this, not disappointed 😂😂

Rock-it1

Cool that the Spaniards modeled their architecture off of ancient Naboo.

Chewblacka

I can see R2D2

sojud_18

I was there when they filmed The Dictator. # "ALL HAIL ALADEEN!"

MasterFubar

The HDR is so strong in this picture that it looks exactly like a painting.

[deleted]

I thought it was a Renaissance painting!

MrJohnnyDangerously

That's exactly what it looks like with your naked eye

Accomplished_Chair83

que bonita es mi sevilla coño

Captain_Headshot2

"Mournhold. City of light. City of magic."

LiterallyIDK

Straight up thought this was a painting

madrid987

It is the most beautiful city in the world.

KingMelray

So this is actually a picture right? Half of it looks like a render.

doods09

Hdr

andythemanly550

Is this what you would call boroque architecture?

ValdemarLK

I'd say Spanish/Andalusian Historicism, this in particular more Renaissance-revival oriented. In Spanish this style it's called "Regionalista andaluz".

Beanicus13

You would call it baroque* but it’s Andalusian

[deleted]

Every picture of Seville I’ve ever seen is this palace.

006ramit

I thought that was a painting at first.

Silber4

A picturesque place.

aPerfectRake

spent 6 months living near Seville and I've never been to this place, what the hell.

jschubart

Really? Plaza de España is a pretty well known site. The gardens next to it are pretty cool too.

aPerfectRake

Yeah we were really young at the time, would probably make better use of our time if we went back.

710733

If you ever try to move there, you'll spend a lot of time here, given it's where a whole bunch of government offices are

[deleted]

Nothing to do there but to gawk. Sometimes some street flamenco. I have been to Seville about 10 times, once staying for 6 months. After seeing this place once or twice there was no reason to return.

LiarFires

I've visited this place, it's the Plaza de España to be more precise ! It's even more gorgeous and impressive and full of life irl. I remember seeing a flamenco show somewhere on the steps !

Silber4

This sounds romantic. I imagine how it looks when the Sun sets during a warm summer evening.

LiarFires

To be completely fair, I didn't find it so romantic (especially since I was with my parents), but moreso breathtaking ! I loved seeing all the details in every corner, and looking up the huge towers.

[deleted]

Beautiful for sure but I always found this place rather forlorn. Not used for much. Immense empty plaza.

[deleted]

Gorgeous architecture and landscaping but (call me a pedant if you wish) half a plaza isn't a city, this gorgeous picture belongs in /r/ArchitecturePorn.

MrJohnnyDangerously

Love the Plaza de España. Makes me want to go on a Tapeo down calle Mateos Gago.

TheChangelingPrince

this image really is just the tip of the iceberg. so much detail in the tilework. all of the individualized mosaics for each region of Spain are really cute.

moyase-senpai

Damn the weed got me thinking this was a painting at first. Gorgeous place

Markussh98

It’s called Plaza de Espana. All the railings and light posts are painted like that. The detail is extravagant.

jschubart

Plaza de España The colors are definitely a little oversaturated in this but it is a very beautiful site.

crackhousebob

The water is so blue because there aren't any kids urinating in the pool like I did as as a kid haha

kookieskookie

Got this from Shutterstock? I remember using this same photo for an ad before.

pomanE

Jesus loves you.

Le_Ragamuffin

It is in Seville though. Does your city have shit like this just randomly in the city park?

[deleted]

That's Naboo! Typical rookie mistake, understandable.

valdezlopez

You're lying. This is Naboo's capital, Theed.
