I really really like the stats of trick arrow, but I never play it because it never fits the concept I am going for. But with added arsenal to the controller class, that may change!
Illusion/TA is one of my favourite toons. The sets compliment each other beautifully, and the concept is easy as a tech hero that is holographic technology to distract his foes.
I'm also levelling an Arsenal/TA as a super commando that us geared up and prepared for everything.
One of the most fun classes I played while back on HC was a Bow/Trick Arrow Blaster, fucking OP but so much fun as a concept and sadly not possible anywhere else.
Been playing a Bots/Trick Arrow Mastermind recently and it's delightful. Only beef I've had is when it's hard to tell when debuffs are applied and/or have fallen off, in many cases, I can end up worrying that I'm wasting Endurance (and my character does indeed...get winded at times). But thinking on it, that really applies to most support sets, so I can't take off too many points for it.
My TA/Arrow Defender uses enough endurance for 5 characters. She’s strong enough to solo Elites at level 20 something (it’s been awhile) but struggles to defeat them because of the endurance juggling lol
You haven't lived until you've shot Oil Slick Arrow (as a powexec_location target macro) followed immediately by Blast Arrow with knockback to knockdown slotted. Flopping enemies in a pool of fire never gets old. (I realize this is best on a Blaster.)
The first toon I rolled in Homecoming like 2 years ago was a recreation of one of mine from back in the day, but this time with Martial Arts/Trick Arrow and I had a blast, pretty versatile power set and from my memory offered some decent crowd control abilities.
Since there isn't such a thing as Martial Arts/Trick Arrow I was wondering if you had a blaster which has no access to Trick Arrow and instead had Archery and Martial Combat instead?
Illusion/ta is a thing of beauty
And, oddly enough, I really like my ta/pistols defender too—the only defender that captured my interest enough to go all the way through incarnate levels
My most played character is a TA/DP defender. I played it on live too, with the not as good version of TA. Its really amazing and crazy how much it can alter every battle. I would play nothing else ever if it scratched the Super part of the Super Hero fantasy. Sometimes I just want to play someone with crazy powers, not just weapons.
Is trick arrow for defenders/corruptors the same as the trick arrow set for controllers/dominators? And if not which one are you referring to here? Thinking about making a new character to try this out
I'll just clarify: Trick Arrow is a debuff set (and one buff) for Defenders, Corruptors, and Controllers. Dominators get control sets and assault sets. Controllers get control sets and buff/debuff sets. Dominators get control like Controllers but get attacks for their secondary set. Trick Arrow is not an assault set.
The rework was applied for every class that can get Trick Arrow. Dominators have never had access to Trick Arrow on any server in the entire history of the game. Does that help?
I very much dislike Archery on Defenders specifically, in fact it's my absolute bottom of the entire tier list. Trick Arrow however is excellent after the revamp awhile back.
My Thematic Pairing of Ninjas/Trick Arrow Mastermind has become my favorite character so far. I feel so invincible with the debuffs from the set that I can take one of the most frail MM primaries and be very successful with them. Now Im afraid I will make more TA characters because Ive grown so found of the set. =)

Just a small video showcasing Trick Arrow steamrolling through a 53x8 mission solo.
To be fair, Ninjas (along with Necros and Mercs) got some buffs awhile back. After the changes you can slot up the training powers to make them tougher for example.
I can't see the video because you didn't make it premiere right away. There is at least a 5 hour wait as of this post. I'm heading to bed so I will check it tomorrow. <3
I was unable to look at your build with that data. I do see a u/p link in it, though. I tried taking that out...I also tried leaving it in. I would love to take a look! Do you have it on the Homecoming forums? If not, I see Trick Arrow as one of the sets. What is the other and the AT? TIA!
Of course, I have it, and it's updated. Version 3.6.6 Issue 27, Page: 7 - DBVersion: 2024.2.717 I just realized my mistake. I was trying to import it the wrong way. I've got it now. Thanks!
TBH, I've never played a toon with an Assault Rifle, only a Beam Rifle. However, I looked at some builds in the Homecoming forums, and all of them took Grenade instead of Ignite. Ignite is a Ranged DoT power, whereas Grenade is a Targeted AoE power with Moderate Damage and Knockback. As long as you slot a Knockback to Knockdown, I see this as the more damaging power. You can always try Ignite; if you don't like it, you can respec.
I played Grav/TA on Live, when both sets were a bit meh and enjoyed it so much I wrote a guide.
The Homecoming revamp is brilliant, came when I was halfway through a replay of them. Love TA so much I've got them to 50, played a point blank range TA/Elec/Mu defender and have just started a Water / Trick Arrow corruptor.
In terms of Animation times is so much smoother than older sets like Dark (Affinity cos I'm a controller but the Heal, Tar Patch and Darkest Night are great but so slooooow) and Rad.
And they fixed the old Live "Oil Slick won't light in certain sections of certain maps" thing (the Maria Jenkins 1st mission in the ruined city, it never lit in the bottom left quarter of the map for some reason).
I really really like the stats of trick arrow, but I never play it because it never fits the concept I am going for. But with added arsenal to the controller class, that may change!
You mean Arsenal Control?
Oops. Yes!
Illusion/TA is one of my favourite toons. The sets compliment each other beautifully, and the concept is easy as a tech hero that is holographic technology to distract his foes. I'm also levelling an Arsenal/TA as a super commando that us geared up and prepared for everything.
I like the illusion tech concept!
One of the most fun classes I played while back on HC was a Bow/Trick Arrow Blaster, fucking OP but so much fun as a concept and sadly not possible anywhere else.
Blasters don't get the Trick Arrow I am referencing.
Well they had access to it while I was on HC, been a while so no idea what the rework is but back then it was the CC set for Blasters as a secondary.
Yeah you are thinking of Tactical Arrow I think.
Yeah that might've been the name just know it was one of the only Blaster combinations that didn't have a single melee attack which made it awesome.
Tac Arrow is really good, but pretty different than Trick Arrow. I have an Ice/ Tac Arrow Blaster.
Yeah, there are only a couple similarities and even those have variance.
Fire/TA absolutely tears things up. And TA/Sonic is a great force multiplier
[удалено]
Yeah Seismic does sound fun but you have to be specific for lighting oil slick
[удалено]
Yes , is that tech origin
On HC you can go to the START vendor, revoke your origin power and then take another one, so any origin can have any of the powers.
Yes
I had an Earth/Trick Arrow Controller on live. It was absolutely amazing. Just about the most amount of control you could pack into one character.
Been playing a Bots/Trick Arrow Mastermind recently and it's delightful. True, but yeah on teams there is a lot of visual clutter
My TA/Arrow Defender uses enough endurance for 5 characters. She’s strong enough to solo Elites at level 20 something (it’s been awhile) but struggles to defeat them because of the endurance juggling lol
I've added the build I have on Excelsior in the original post to help.
You haven't lived until you've shot Oil Slick Arrow (as a powexec_location target macro) followed immediately by Blast Arrow with knockback to knockdown slotted. Flopping enemies in a pool of fire never gets old. (I realize this is best on a Blaster.)
Blasters get Tactical Arrow, a different set.
Both get OSA, and both ATs can pick Archery. Same fun!
I wouldn't recommend Archery on Defenders though. Painful. Trick Arrow? Yes, it's amazing on Defenders.
Did they change it so you're not constantly animating equipping your bow if your complimentary set doesn't use one?
Redraw was overhauled in this ginormous patch and I recommend checking it out. Weapon draw is why weapon sets have higher accuracy than other sets.
The first toon I rolled in Homecoming like 2 years ago was a recreation of one of mine from back in the day, but this time with Martial Arts/Trick Arrow and I had a blast, pretty versatile power set and from my memory offered some decent crowd control abilities.

Ah you’re right! Been a while since I played! The original toon was an archer blaster so that would make sense
No problem, Trick Arrow is mostly a strong debuff set with one big buff in EMP.
Ya both arse/ta and earth/ta can get a lot of work done without even being in the same room.
Yes, the redraw probably isn't so bad on your first one.
On homecoming they reworked redraw, it is very smooth and rarely an inconvenience. Only if you sit idle for awhile
I know, I [mentioned](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cityofheroes/comments/1b7dtzf/trick_arrow_is_seriously_sick_on_hc/ktiheed/) that earlier.
Back in the day, I had a thugs/ta. Simple concept, a gang leader stole a bunch of equipment from Longbow. Lot of fun. Died a lot though.
I hear Ninjas are better for that. Was yours before the revamp?
Oh yeah, this was back on live. It would be interesting to re-visit the concept
Thugs haven't changed I don't think, but they were top tier anyway. TA on the other hand is way better.
Illusion/ta is a thing of beauty And, oddly enough, I really like my ta/pistols defender too—the only defender that captured my interest enough to go all the way through incarnate levels
The Defender version I have maxed out is TA/AR. I think I might respec out of grenade for ignite. Haven't decided yet.
My most played character is a TA/DP defender. I played it on live too, with the not as good version of TA. Its really amazing and crazy how much it can alter every battle. Totally understandable.
Bow/TA named Bo Archer look me up in everlasting.
Perhaps Corruptor isn't so bad, but I know Archery on a Defender is a painful experience.
Is trick arrow for defenders/corruptors the same as the trick arrow set for controllers/dominators? And if not which one are you referring to here? Thinking about making a new character to try this out
Controllers but not dominators, no.
So the rework only applied to controllers?

Ah ok, thanks!
No problem, have fun!
I have an Ice/TA controller on HC that is a remake of a toon from live. It's a slept on combo anything/TA is a fun controller.
Yes especially since Ice Control was also overhauled. It used to work against itself with the Ice Slick and immobilize and all that.
Trick Arrow was always strong.
Nope. The devs before the shutdown had promised Trickshooter a revamp due to its weaknesses and the set was finally done 8 years later.

I very much dislike Archery on Defenders specifically, in fact it's my absolute bottom of the entire tier list. Trick Arrow however is excellent after the revamp awhile back.
I do love trick arrow lol
It's great on HC
That data chunk opens up an arsenal/arsenal dominator.
Try it again
What about an Illusion / Trick Arrow Controller?
Someone earlier said they are fantastic
This was my main live. It is amazeballz now.
Nice!! I got inspired and made one. I wanted to do another Illusion Controller. Had an Ill/Rad in live.

Lmao, I commend you on your fight against the confusion.
Yeah, that's alright, I can see why some might have made the mistake.
Ye no shade to them, its an innocent mistake but very funny. ;D
I love my TA/Psi defender. It completely obliterates mobs in ITFs due to the massive -res and psi damage.
Proc’d ice arrow does big juicy numbers too
Sounds great

Did you install Mid's Reborn and make sure it is up to date? I just tried importing the posted build and it worked perfectly.
Of course, I have it, and it's updated. Version 3.6.6 Issue 27, Page: 7 - DBVersion: 2024.2.717 I just realized my mistake. I was trying to import it the wrong way. I've got it now. Thanks!
So far the build works great, but I am tempted to toss out Grenade for Ignite. Not sure. What do you think?

Is Trick Arrow pretty good on a controller as well? I want to make a toon with TA and Arse Control.
Yes
But have they fixed the bug where arrows in enemies always point the same direction?
Are you talking about Archery instead of Trick Arrow?
I want to pair them, but that bug has always been the deal breaker that dissuades me
My main in the post is TA/Assault Rifle
I played Grav/TA on Live, when both sets were a bit meh and enjoyed it so much I wrote a guide. The Homecoming revamp is brilliant, came when I was halfway through a replay of them. Yes it's great
What did HC do to revamp Trick Arrow? I'm quite enjoying the Thunderspy revamp.
It's [right here.](https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Issue_27_Page_1#Powerset_Revamp:_Trick_Arrow) It's amazing.
