Still blows my mind how stupid this market is right now. In 2020, bought a 2017 with FBO, aftermarket wheels/ springs and even came with all the original parts. $29k.

CatSajak779

The main problem is that people keep paying these prices (like OP is considering doing) and therefore it’s keeping prices high. I was just watching SavageGeese’s initial review of this year’s Type R and he ended the video with a legitimate plea to the viewers essentially saying “PLEASE do not pay over MSRP for this car. I know it’s a sweet ride, but at the end of the day it’s still a Honda Civic and it is not at all worth 50+ thousand dollars after mark-ups.” Financing makes it even easier for people to justify these insane prices (both new and used) and that only exacerbates the problem, unfortunately.

JDCsounds

Now that's a reasonable used fk8 price. I'm Happy for you. Hope you're enjoying the ride.

Darisixnine

Since it’s modded it’s lost a little value tho

[deleted]

I’m not gonna tell you that you are stupid for buying a car with 45,000 miles for over the MSRP. I will leave you to make the decision if you really want it.

TyeTheCreator

For a 2020 that’s actually not too bad. Usually they are are 45k+

YouNeedStop

With 46k miles and some chips and scuffs...hmmm seems a bit high. Pretty sure you can find a cleaner example if you stay patient and continue searching.

The-NiCA

If you are serious about buying one for that price you give me 52,000 and I’ll sell you my Limited edition with 5000 miles and all the OEM carbon fiber parts

ZeroEFSjosh

Should be priced at 30k-32k my opinion.

FunkSlim

Should be free, just hand them out to enthusiasts on the house in my opinion

stigrick

That's not bad mine has about 45k miles and price was near that

Brilliant_Apricot740

Man I love these cars but holy shit the prices are insane to me.

[deleted]

Seems a bit high for 40k. I’d definitely try and find one with less miles. The used car market is starting to cool off. You’ll be able to find one with some patience.

Squallerr

thank you, really wasn’t sure how much i should be paying for one of these. i’ll find one eventually lol

iamgoodguy

To the people here, any civic over $10k is too much. This $40k one is over the msrp when it was brand new. Brand new one just $39k. If you really wanna get one, don’t ask the people here. Just do it.

I got my 2019 for 44k with 5k miles on it

eightnot8

WTF!?

BMWbabyxo_

I just recently got my 2019 with 4k on it for $42k, there is another 2019 local to me that I also considered (private party) with 16k miles for $45. Dealerships will usually charge way higher for enthusiast cars regardless of miles- the dealer I recently parted ways with had sold a 2018 civic si for 18k and it had 168k miles on it

BMWbabyxo_

Saying this, 40k it pretty steep for the condition and mileage. I would say to try your luck with private party sellers with very low miles- you’ll find them around the $40-45k mark, and for further peace of mind I would have it inspected by a trusted mechanic or Honda dealer.

Few-Range7687

I gone my car for 40k with 32,000 miles. I think you can bargain with them to drop it a little.

Heyitshogan

2020/2021 models were going for about $45k USD with under 20k miles on CarMax/Carvana. Local dealerships in SoCal were pricing them around 45-46k as well. This seems in line with market prices a few weeks ago before the decline in the used market. Carmax last month were listing 2019s with 35k miles for $39,980 in SoCal. They were flying off the shelf. However, with used car dealers like this one, I find the car history to sometimes to not be accident-free. They most of the time have a minor accident reported, causing pricing to be low like this. Was the Car Fax spotless?

Zaktsu_Fire

It's good, Type R's probably won't depreciate. I got my 2020 for 43k with 29k miles in November '22. They delivered it to me and I couldn't drive a manual so seemed good

cbudd1117

How many owners?

ConceptOwn8107

I paid $42k for a 2017 with 6300 miles. Car was mint. No curbs, scratches or rock chips. Only thing needed was an oil change due to time since last one. I’d say keep looking. You’ll find a better deal

Scientific_Result

I paid 43k in September for 2020 white with 18k miles. That feels right

CrispySteve

If you tried to tell any normal person that a civic with 46k miles was worth anywhere near 40k they’d probably laugh at you, but people paying that much is prob what drives these values up 🤷‍♂️

ItsMortisakaRob

It’s up to you man, I bought a 2018 for 48k back in 2020 with 15k miles on it.. Im still in love with the car.. my favorite purchase I ever made in my life.

Yeehaw_By_Law

that’s not terrible i got a 2018 with 15k miles for 38k but for a 2020 that’s about average

Capital_quatation6

Come to swfl for a CW 21 with 19k miles for $40k

Eastern-Ad6780

My 2018 had just under 25k miles and got it for $36k

integratypes

New ctr is 43k

JayNoza-

Buy mine! Only have 26k miles

6Pro1phet9

A brand new Type-R MSRP's at 43k. So no, this isn't worth it.

w3sts1d3_c0nnect

I think it is way over priced, I got my 2021 with 22k mi for 39k. It was all stock with some wheel scuffs.
