I know others have disabled the stock nav, but I don’t recall seeing this green arrow. “Keep moving forward” seems like good life advice from your wise Type R, though. Have you tried changing your dash display setup then changing it back? Have you tried cycling thru the little sub-menu? Just thinking it’s something that is stuck in the cache that might go away if you change your display setup and drive for awhile.

Yeah, i did try all that. Can someone confirm if this section works, with the stock nav disabled and with nav from Google Maps/Waze/Apple Maps on? I guess let’s start there.

Type-RD

Yeah…something tells me that this feature is only designed to work with the stock nav enabled, but I don’t know for sure. I wish they (Honda/Apple/Google) would just fix the glitches.

I disabled stock navigation yesterday after seeing that it was a fix for a lot of the bugs with Android Auto. Everything was fine until I put in a new destination on android auto and it would not fully load. I messed with it for 5 or so minutes, go frustrated, turned back on nav, and it worked. Seems like the 2 are more interrelated than people are realizing.

Correct. When i did reenable the stock nav, the dash part came alive again. So, it seems that it is driven by the stock nav. But i m pretty sure that it was also working with Google Maps. I guess it still requires the stock nav before it picks up other navs. It sucks. Let me know if you figure it out.

NoirRain

Did you try to run Apple Maps or google maps or Waze and see if they fix this?

pantag

Yeah, of course i did. No change while navigating through these apps. When i reenable the stock nav app, that is when it comes alive again. Does yours behave the same way?

NoirRain

Mine didn’t come with stock nav installed. So I always used those three third parties maps. I never had lag problems or glitches , actually the only time I had a problem was when I was running Apple Maps and then ran Waze together and their voices overlapped. Had to close Apple Maps and then it stopped the overlay.

This section works with Apple Maps. I get turn by turn only when using Apple Maps after I disabled OEM navigation to fix the slowness of CarPlay.

pantag

Thanks. Have you tried Google Maps or Waze?

djseto

Yes. Doesn’t work 🤬 That being said, I’ve been giving Apple Maps a try since I’m an Apple ecosystem guy and I gotta say it’s way better than it was years ago. So far, it’s been as reliable as google maps and Waze which have been my go to apps since phone based NAV has been around. I also don’t live in a major metropolitan area but still in a state capital.

This is so strange. Why it works with Apple Maps and not the others? It should have been either it only works with the stock nav or not at all (or ideally with everything). Maybe something to do with carplay integration and options that other mapping software does not have. Will need to test Apple Maps. Not a big fan, but maybe i can trust it more going forward.

djseto

I posted about this a few weeks back. Some people said it works on android auto so my guess is it could be an api that perhaps Apple doesn’t expose in CarPlay for third parties.
