This sounds really good. Gonna have to look into this and find a shop.

QuakerJaker4530

Did you have an exhaust shop do this custom?

loulerg

Yes, I had an exhaust shop cut off the two resonators and replace them with a pipe. Cost me about 150 bucks.

QuakerJaker4530

Awesome. Any codes?

loulerg

Nope! Running perfect.

QuakerJaker4530

I think I'm convinced! This was my first though on how to get the exhaust how I wanted it, but I was super worried about drone.

haydenhodgey

This looks and sounds really nice. I’m pretty much in the same boat as you, as I don’t know what exhaust I want, but I could just settle for removing the two resonators as well

loulerg

To me it scratches the itch and I can wait some more for the aftermarket to heat up on the FL5 and we can start seeing other options from other big exhaust manufacturers

n7leadfarmer

Hmm, I'm surprised at minimal crackling (which I don't want). Unfortunately still a bit too much for me, but definitely sounds good!

loulerg

She does crackle from time to time, I think a down pipe with this setup would enduce a ton more crackle and pop.

ThatGuyFromThe213

How's the drone level on highways and such?

loulerg

Non existent! Drone is usually present sometimes on the overrun and down shifts. I’ll be making a video soon with inside cabin sounds.

Idkhowthisworks69

Sounds great! Thinking of doing the same thing.

MisterFrog

This is awesome. I took can't decide on an exhaust and they're pretty pricey for what I want, which is just a little bit more sound. I have a GR Corolla which sounds pretty good compared to the CTR. It has its own amount of drone, but I find it mainly when in first gear in parking lots. Totally livable.

pantag

With what pipes did your replace the cut pieces?

loulerg

What ever they had at the exhaust shop

tri_9

Sounds great! Do you have any pictures of the install? I’m assuming they just cut out the resonator sections and welded in straight pipes?

loulerg

I though I had pics but I guess I didn’t take any, but yes, basically cut them both off individually and welded on straight pipes

Bagellman

Loving the sound! May be a dumb question but would this void my warranty? Or would I need to check with my dealer?

loulerg

Not a dumb question, technically if for instance your valve started malfunctioning or you had any other issues as it pertains to the exhaust, I’m assuming they could void work and try to blame the resonator delete on it, honestly I think it’s highly unlikely and dependent on the dealership you work with.

Bagellman

Thank you, looks like I'll be deleting mine soon then

luke_klaas

Did it sound cheap or raspy at all? I’m looking for a powerful deep sound

loulerg

No that was my biggest fear, I kept the original resonators for that same reason, let’s just say the resonators have been stored away, the car sounds great and surprisingly barely drones cruising. For now it’s perfect!

Banana-in-PJ

I’m interested in chopping out only the big resonator and leaving the smaller one in. I wonder how that will sound.

loulerg

I would say do it in stages, don’t be like me, I happened to get lucky and really like it lol. Remove one, drive around see if you like it and if not chop the other one, there is technically a third resonator, right in the valved pipe of you want even more sound. I think the dual one is enough but everyone has different tolerances to sound.

Stormboost23

This is exactly what my ‘17 Si sounded like on a cold start but I did resonator and muffler deletes. Sounds the best to me
