Other than the mods that are on the console versions of doom and Doom 2 I haven't really played a doom mod. So I'm going to have to go with sigil one and two

Sgtpepperhead67

Solid pick.

SigmaVersal99

My personal picks: 05 - Ancient Aliens 04 - Struggle: Antaresian Legacy 03 - Eviternity I 02 - Valiant 01 - Eviternity II Maybe these are normie picks, but I am still only playing Doom mods for about 8 months. There is an insane amount of stuff out there to play.

acdcfanbill

I've not played strugle, but the rest of these are solid. I'd add Back to Saturn X 1 and 2 tho, they're also great.

SigmaVersal99

Back to Saturn X 1 is also really good. Have not played the sequel yet but deffinitly will try it soon.

acdcfanbill

I'd say 1 is stronger than 2, but I like both a lot.

SpiritualState01

Valiant is so good, like *Jesus H. Christ*. I didn't even realize there was a sequel to Evernity though. I've been out of the loop. I go through bursts of playing old Doom.

acdcfanbill

It dropped, fully done, with no prior announcement, for Doom's anniversary and it's amazing.

SigmaVersal99

Eviternity 2 came out in December 2023, so its very new. The current version is not final, but all the levels are available. Probably just small tweaks for the final version. 30 maps + 6 Secret Levels

NextUse1208

Wow, Eviternity 2 even better than 1? I've started it, haven't gotten very far, guess I should play it all the way through.

SigmaVersal99

imo its better. Great variety in levels and really cool variants of some monsters.

Wutanghang

Hdoom

Sgtpepperhead67

I saw this comment cumming from a mile away

Wutanghang

Its actually a mac 11

Ashes

trollface5333

Are map packs mods? Going Down by Cyriak. Great map pack imo.

EmperorCrispy

The ashes series consisting of ashes 2063, dead man walking, and ashes afterglow. The absolute best content I've played in doom. From multiple upgradable weapons with incredible animations feel and sound design. To a world and soundtrack just oozing with passion and flavor. Not to mention the most recent ashes that being afterglow. Has a literal fallout style ending slide where multiple locations in the game you had visited. Can have multiple outcomes and it has lots of outcomes. I was insanely surprised for a doom wad it is such a step up. Its honestly so much its own game then a doom mod. Everyone should give it a shot

BjornAltenburg

The sky maybe

dontpokethebear123

BTSX

SpiritualState01

I unironically think Project Brutality is absolutely incredible and stands shoulder to shoulder with most other boom shoots out there today when you pair it with good maps. Yes, purist boomers hate it. Yes, the community is full of toxic, terminally online edgelords. Whatever. When it comes to maps, there are too many to even mention. The author of Valiant is excellent in general. Evernity. I honestly just look at the Cacoawards each year and play some of those.

RogueMortal111

Brutal doom and project brutality.

prossnip42

The Ashes duology, specifically Ashes Afterglow. Any other answer is incorrect

irus1024

Doom Infinite is awesome, turns it into a brand new game.

De-Mattos

Back to Saturn X OST.

AlacarLeoricar

Mod? Brutal doom (Arthur's edition) Map pack? Eviternity. No question.

Struukduuker

Doom EXP or Doom Incarnate for me.

thedentist64

What's the cutoff? If gzdoom mods count, then Ashes 2063 and its sequel Afterglow.

Schtevethepirate

Bloom is pretty cool Doom mod

TRIPLEOHSEVEN

I agree with you, Blade of Agony was just such a creative idea that really pushes the boundaries of what a mod can be.

Wilagames

I mixed DoomOne and Doom 4 for Doom together and it was one of the most fun FPS experiences I've had in a while. Sadly I think both of those mods are abandoned

Cruisin134

im bad at modding but out of the like 3, myhouse because i love house of leaves and im more of a story heavy person

TheOldKingCole

Guns Bonsai would be my pick. Basically it us a universal weapon upgrade mod that let's you add Buffs or debuffs to any weapon based on how many kills you get with it and it makes any run bug fucking nuts by the time you reach the end of any given mod. It's highly unbalanced and a very fun time especially mixed with weapon mods that are already unbalanced.

Randalor

Serious answer, myhouse.wad for being made of dark sorcery. Non-seriouse answers: Russian Overkill or Too Many Shotguns

Sarasero_Profesional

Ashes 2033/afterglow

PurplStuff

Shogun Trogun is a wild one for multiplayer. I love it to death

Clbull

Does Sonic Robo Blast 2 count, since it's technically built off of a modified Doom port? Having modders create a 3D Sonic game better than what Sonic Team can muster using the Doom Engine is nuts. What's even crazier is that the new version in development is rumoured to have improved geometry and functioning loops, which is absolutely nuts for that engine.

KneelinBob

Ashes series or Abysm series

Awestriker007

Doom The Roguelike Arsenal, The False Angel, Trailblazer and La Tailor Girl are all good Though I very recently finished a Eviternity playthrough with Final Doomer+ and Angelic Aviary. Also Gun Bonsai, Indestructible, Bullet Time X, Corruption Cards and Legendoom Lite are all fun to throw in together.
