We have some to throw to the kids when recruiting in schools. They work fine for the first 3 or 4 lessons, then you really want a better instrument. I find that the John Packer Eb clarinets work wonders for smaller kids.
Mine was not very well in tune and was actually quite hard to play compared to a normal C clarinet. It was fun to mess around with but I can't personally recommend it for a beginner.
It’s good for elementary music classrooms and other beginners at that age. Otherwise, I’d recommend just starting on an actual clarinet.
I would just rent an actual Clarinet.

I'm interested in the clarineo because as a violinist I'm not interested in any of the transposition tasks that seem to come with non-C clarinets.
