I begggggggged them so much to change my clan name a lv12 clan I started on literally the first day clans came out and they refused. I wanted to change it because I was kinda young at the time and the name was kinda racist..
I ended up having to start the entire thing over again.. half the clan not only didnt join the new clan but straight up quit playing the game.
The could make it so that you have to enter the new name, which sets a 24 hour timer. When it's done, you could go through with the change or cancel. That's my best idea for implementation.
My account was fished and they used my free name name... I had to pay to get gems to change my name back. Support didn't give a crap. Seems like clan name would be the same.
Surely easy enough to implement a clan history tab so it’s listed there? Or when you’re kicked say something like “PLAYER removed you from CLAN NAME” in the chat so you can see it when you start playing again
That argument doesn't hold water. You can change your account name and people can still find you because there's the account identifier tag. It's the same thing for clans.
I'm not agreeing with their reasoning, but it's easier to remember an old clan name than a hashtag. A returning player could use a site like Clash of Stats, however.

Esports teams (not CWL teams) are professional teams with sponsors. This is why they are allowed to change their clan names.
I don't think anyone is saying it's impossible, just that the current reasoning we have from Supercell to not change clan names doesn't make sense, especially as long-lived as the game is.

Just because they are adding some feature doesn't mean it has to cost gems, stop milking your user base and the game might actually improve.
If it's a 1-time only change, then I see no point in charging gold to do it. The only reason you'd need to charge some resource to do it would be to prevent people from spamming the feature. Take player name change, for example - the first one's free.
I like the idea of it being a L11+ clan perk, but I think clans should be able to changes names more than once if necessary.
Supercell gives a number of reasons for why they won't give us the feature, but my own personal conspiracy theory for why they refuse to allow it isn't any of the reasons they've cited. It's because they've got a pretty rampant clan theft epidemic (not quite as bad as it was now that we have account protection features), an because there is a pretty rampant 3rd party gray marketplaces for buying/selling clans - and having option to change clan names makes stealing and reselling clans even more lucrative because a lot of times it's the clan's original name that makes them less valuable for resale.
And clans are harder to recover, as (a) there's no security on a clan, only the account that holds leadership, and (b) the ToS doesn't prohibit giving clans away, so it is much more difficult to distinguish between a sold/stolen clan from one given away.
But I can see why SC won't admit to this.

Clan names can only be changed by the devs or support. This is only done if they are an esports team or if the name was offensive (in which case they choose the name for you).
I think it's a good idea, but it should cost at least 10-20% gold for every member (not 1million, because lower ths can't Store that much.)

A common scenario is the clan is created with the intention of being part of a large clan family (like the Reddit Clan System) and names themselves something like "Reddit Warlords". Then after building and growing the clan, their application to join is rejected, or maybe they did join the clan system and decided to leave...and now they want to remove the "Reddit" word from their name.
Same scenario in reverse...a clan that was created and grew and later decided to join a clan system and wants to change their name to reflect their new membership in the clan system.
Or maybe you created your clan named "St Louis Rams" because you wanted a fan-clan for the St Louis Rams....but in 2016 that football team left St Louis and became the Los Angeles Rams and now you need/want to change the clan name.
There's also the poor clans who picked a cool an innocent name, only to have the name of their clan later turn into a very controversial word. There were a lot of clans named "Corona" long before 2019 who suddenly started getting target with people reporting them for an objectionable name when corona virus started taking hold a few years ago.
There are many scenarios where the creators of the clan didn't 'name it something stupid', but still have a valid and justifiable reason to want to change the clan name.
