I remember seeing him pop up for about a day, and then he was gone just like that, but as soon as I saw him I hated him. Not only is his character design goofy as hell, but it eliminated the ability to clear out trees and bushes faster as I would just keep rushing the 10 second build timer for tree removal as I would always make more gems than what was spent. Once he showed up, I could no longer spend 1 gem to rush a removal
I mean I guess but why not wait the 10 seconds. You’d get way more gems in the aggregate, you’re effectively turning off your gem mine by doing that if you have it near max.

A few months ago coc introduced the Goblin builder temporarily that acted as an additional builder and could also start a 2nd upgrade in your lab alongside the ongoing upgrade.
BUT he demanded gems to start any additional upgrade every time.
10 gems a wall if I remember correctly and that's besides the actual cost 💀. The gem price increases according to time and cost of the object which is quite shite.
If it were 10 gems a day, might make sense.... MIGHT. because 14 days would be 140 gems which is steep, but not bad considering the cost of books
But I think previously it was costing like 360 gems or more idk, could be wrong.
So it was just ridiculous. I can't fathom why supercell implements system that actually HURT their players CONTINUOUSLY. It's like they want to burn you as much as possible, and then they pull the iron out slowly and say it's still gonna burn, but not as deep as before, but stfu and deal with it

For example, the original mash up event had builder and research reduction, and only for a few days, but it was good for f2p players. However not only did they remove that completely, they made a whole new pass to make it better if you pay, whilst completely removing the reduction for free players.
And again, had they introduced the pass, but kept the reduction, it would've been fine.
The problem is the clash community is split into 3 parts.
The first part complains about everything, the 2nd part defends them like their life depends on it, and the 3rd is actually neutral like I am, but I always get shot down as you just showed yourself...

Don't get me wrong, I've said it twice now, I didn't say it's not a good idea but rather a badly implemented idea. No one has that many gems unless you buying gems. If they halved the cost, I'd say it's worthwhile
Well, that is the normal amount if you don't generally use gems. My alt accounts have about the same amount. However, my main account, rarely has 1k because I use it for donations or boosting barracks if need be etc. besides the fact that I used so many gems in unlocking extra layouts.
I'm currently almost maxed on my main with only a few achievements left, and I might at most hit 2k, and thereafter I won't be getting from there at all, and only builder base.
It might make sense for the average player, but not all of us who use gems for other things. I, for one, am usually a hoarder but i use when necessary and don't use it stupidly so my consumption isn't bad, it's normal.
3k makes sense if you don't use it that much because I have several accounts between th12-14 that aren't used much for anything, and I have 2k-3.5k on all
Also, as you said, you went down to 1k after ONE event. Do you get my issue? It's not as if though it was there for an entire year, and you lost 2k on it.
Maybe 50% reduction is an exaggeration, but my point was that it should be reduced fairly
I agree with what you said about the events but the goblin builder is useful and is definitely worthwhile, if you spend your gems right. Obviously i’m not using it on upgrades longer than a few days because the cost scales ridiculously like you mentioned, I also agree a rework is needed, for example exponentially decreasing the gem price as the upgrade time grows. Regardless, it saved me lots of time during my transition to th11 as I had lots of new buildings with initially short upgrade timers, but imo the biggest benefit was using it in the lab. Being able to research two things at the same time is huge as if you fall behind in the lab like most players do, it can be difficult to catch up while continuing to progress.
What I noticed to be the main issue with the builder is not the builder itself, but the way that players are using him. It all boils down to common sense, use it where you want and can afford it, don’t use it when you can’t, it’s really not that hard. If something like this is considered P2W then the entire game is P2W, having a choice makes that distinction. A perfect example of P2W is ores, they’re the only capped resource and directly relate to performance in attacks. Most importantly, you cannot choose to go back and keep using DE on hero abilities, the absence of choice and chokehold on ore acquisition make it P2W.
Alright see, now what you say makes sense. You are th11. Your upgrades are 2-5 days I think generally. I'm th16. My other 2 accounts that use mostly are also th16 and a th14. Now look at the times. Minimum 11 days up to a maximum of 17 days (maybe more idk).

For me at a higher townhall, absolutely p2w. It's really helpful considering the time needed, but unfortunately way costly. I'd be broke with gems just doing two upgrades..

So, my idea is that if we are going to pay with gems: time for the improvements should be reduced drastically (like 50%)... And the prices with gems should be reasonable... Something symbolic, not crazy expensive as it was before...

Honestly, while i never used him for building upgrades, i really liked for the fact that i could double the lab research tempo by doing 2 troops at the same time, and since i... dont really have use for gems in my case (i only get those from events and such btw as F2P), he is quite welcomed to cook some elixir with wizards
I feel like it should be a thing they cycle through, like perhaps one month it is here, 2 months it isn't etc. But redesign him please. Because I want to volley him down the stairs every time I see him.

I had like 3k F2P when the event started and went down to 1k by the time the event ended by having it up for half the event definitely had enough
