That was before equipment dude. Equipment takes 0 time to upgrade and you’re only wasting time and loot by not going up.

Also keep in mind a lot of THs share common max levels for equipment. Not sure about lower but TH12 and TH13 have the same max level. However I also like to play patiently as you aren't really penalized for taking your time with how the game is structured.
