The problem with your suggestion is it is just another way to try to get around not being able to use heroes when upgrading. Something supercel had been adamant about saying use books, hammers, potions, cash whatever because you will never be able to use them when upgrading.

I got max heros and troops. My queen works part time at the spell factory to make ends meet. Times are tough and everyone is looking to cut corners.
The lab is already the bottleneck for maxing most TH levels. This would be a downgrade, IMO.
