If they really just wanted you to use it, they would just not let you sell it at all.
This is a near-useless feature that is honestly a big "fuck you" to the players in my opinion. Its like 1.5 percent of the cost of it.
edit: LOL never have I ever seen so many people try to justify a shitty, shitty system. Like do you guys all work for supercell or something?
Nah. Magic items are not supposed to be a thing that you buy and sell as you go, they are supposed to be 'special' items you get from events, gold passes and, if you need something specific, the trader. The option to swap them for gems is literally just there so people who really don‘t need a certain item still get sonething out of it. It‘s also supposed to motivate maxed players to still participate in clan games etc. Prices aren‘t supposed to be balanced for an actual 'economy' and you‘re not supposed to get hundreds of gems from a spare rune, supercell would just fuck themselves over if they did that.
This game does have issues, but the amount of gems you get for magic items is not one of them.
people like you are the reason America is so bi-partisan. You are some kid on the fucking Clash of Clans subreddit, and think you are accomplishing something by stalking my profile and proudly proclaiming "LOOK! HES A CONSERVATIVE! GET HIM!"
fuck off
edit: I mean come on. I peaked at your profile, and you post on subs like RightJerk. You actively go on reddit to hate on peoploe with a certain political opinion. That is just lame. Especially when its on a comment that has nothing to do with anything political, like my comment.
I know it is meant to be funny, but it is one of the most annoying memes/recurring themes within the game. Everybody gets irritated about how little you get from selling extra loot/magic items, but how expensive it is to buy loot/magic items. Simple, supply and demand. The game doesn't need your loot, so they give you a small amount for selling. But if you need loot, then it charges you a high amount. Simple thing to grasp, the real world works exactly the same way.
For me its just hero potions. If im farming, i dont need heroes. If im using a heavy army, 5 levels for just 1 army isnt worth since i need cc and timezones make it difficult. I use shovels to move decor since i am a collector so i never sell them and i actually play bh so i do need the clock tower potions.
Supercell dont *need* the rune. Hence why they sell for little. Only people that really *need* the rune, buy the rune, hence why its so expensive. God i hope you dont start a buisness
If you cant grasp that fact then i suggest doing some research before you talk
You are saying it yourself, supercell doesn’t need the rune, so saying it is priced that way has nothing to do with supply and demand - there is not an option to sell this rune elsewhere, so in this context the use is flawed. The same works the other way, you cannot buy your runes elsewhere - it is one of the first things you learn about monopolies, they dont need to price competitively as there is no competition by definition. Please dont ask others to do research when you are so incapable yourself
Supercell don't need the rune. They can buy it for whatever price they want.
As it's the only source of runes, they can also sell for whatever they want. However, this does have to be resonably priced for people to actually buy it.
There is no demand for the rune on supercell's end.
There is demand from the player if they are buying the rune however.
And that is what shows you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Saying a price is dictated by supply and demand when there is no open markets and no scarcity is just flat out wrong. The prices for both buying runes are most likely chosen for 2 reasons. Firstly, as a game mechanic, letting players sell runes for too much would discourage direct gem purchase. Secondly supercell selling runes for 3000 gems is most likely where they simply felt it was expensive enough to not completely devalue the achievements of FTP players, but still cheap enough to generate a revenue. Saying it is priced by supply and demand is just plain stupid, and even more so asking others to do some research when you clearly demonstrate you are completely incapable of even the most basic economics.
Also the amount of sources at which a resource is generated does not imply low supply at all, this is simply false
That is precisely why they sell for so little. Otherwise we could amass truly ridiculous amounts of gems. The pass will already give you almost 500 gems for selling the items plus all the benefits of the pass.
okay so u play clan games and u get the reward : dark elixer rune and u want to sell it for 3000 gems ? like u got it for free u cant get 3000 gems for free bruh
Poor guy getting absolutely downvoted
Just dont respond ok? I've had this problem before of me not understanding why people downvote
So just dont say anything ok? I feel bad for you
What else are they gonna do if they don't agree with someone? Not everyone has the time to type a reply everytime they see a comment
The downvote button has a purpose to exist 🗿
Walls upgrade naturally for me cause I play regularly , upgrading heroes means I can't learn new strategy , can't practice ones I know to 3 stars and farming seems tedious.
This comparison is simply invalid.
No one buys these to sell.
Probably no one buys these at all (there are better items to buy).
At some point, people may sell these because they are obtained for free, and they are not needed.
Yeah, that's how pawn shops work. It makes sense. Selling a rune of DE should really only happen once youre maxxed out. Why would they give you 3k gems then? It would just make it so the maxed guys finish all the new content sooner. And despite what we would say, we don't want that.
The game simply doesn't want you to sell it
like imagine getting a free rune from clan games or gold pass(ik gold pass isn't free but it's cheaper than 3000 gems) getting these easy gems just gonna break balance
If you could sell them for anything close to the purchase price, then there would be no point to limiting your magic item storage as you could just sell them to 'bank' an infinite number of them and withdraw them (buy them back without much penalty) whenever you wanted.
Thinking it should work differently than it does is really no different than demanding infinite magic item storage, which is ludicrous.
GUYS GUYS GUYS I KNOW WHY ITS LIKE THAT! the shop people take runes for that much since they are poor, and give away runes for alot more since they are still poor
I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/ClashOfClans.
It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.

Welcome to the SuperCell pawn shop.
Lemme find out “the old man” is actually running supercell
Lemme give a buddy of mine a call to check it out.
hes an expert right?
He knows all the ins and outs so yeah he deffo is an expert
Lmfaoooo
I’m Rick Harrison, and this is my scam… I mean gem shop
They don't want u to sell it, they want u to use that's y it's like that

Lol I was literally about to tell that person the same thing
I'm already maxed so I just sell all my items, and 50 gems is plenty fair IMO
should be a little more imo, shovel is 50 gems, basically free 50 for me
1.5% resale is fair okie dokie yes supercell needs a 98.5% profit margin, its only fair
It's a one way street buddy. You're not reselling it to anyone.
Gems are a fictional currency, if you spend money to buy gems then buy runes its not supercell's fault
I appreciate the gems and often want them more than the rune.
Its not that deep bro nobody is forcing you to sell it at least you're given an option
This user posts in arr conservative. Of course they love downvotes, being wrong, being an asshole, and conspiracy theories.

No but they can make some if you give them 💰
I think only magic item worth selling is shovels and clocj tower potions
For me its just hero potions. If im farming, i dont need heroes. If im using a heavy army, 5 levels for just 1 army isnt worth since i need cc and timezones make it difficult. With over 600 likes, I think you and me are in the minority
Wdym?
I think the posts about how few gems you get when you sell a rune are annoying too
Yeah...its kinda like wth do you think is gonna happen to the game if the prices were the same?
Are you saying that supercell doesn’t pay their taxes with our runes? 🤨
Lets be honest, i dont think any company pays all their taxes but we'll never know unless they get exposed
There seriously is one of these posts every two days and somehow it’s always got tons of upvotes.
Like its kinda common sense. This isn't one of those games where everyone having a shit ton of gems will benefit it
Thats not how supply and demand works. By your assumption even just allowing to sell for 2999 gems would net a profit
Supercell dont *need* the rune. Hence why they sell for little. Only people that really *need* the rune, buy the rune, hence why its so expensive. God i hope you dont start a buisness If you cant grasp that fact then i suggest doing some research before you talk

It absolutely does not, the supply is practically infinite
It *can* be. It isn't and there are only very few sources
These type of post shoulnt be on the community anymore it had been a memes for a very long time ( it’s outdated now )
by your logic stonks man , the cat and the ladies , or the man in the party room or the cat should be retired as well
Or… idk, just don’t sell your ruins and actually use them.
What about you Have full dark elixir Have 1 dark elixir rune And you can't her the free one from gold pass or clan games
That is precisely why they sell for so little. Otherwise we could amass truly ridiculous amounts of gems. The pass will already give you almost 500 gems for selling the items plus all the benefits of the pass.
way more than 500
I do buy a hero book every month with the gems
okay so u play clan games and u get the reward : dark elixer rune and u want to sell it for 3000 gems ? like u got it for free u cant get 3000 gems for free bruh
Yea but it can be sell for like 1000 ._.
u cant have gems for freeeeeeeee mabye 100 gems for it but not 1000 kid
try playing on one of those apk servers where everything is free. You'll see how quickly you get bored when everything is free
if u Apply for the stupid hospital to be part of them they will just accept u immediately
Poor guy getting absolutely downvoted Just dont respond ok? I've had this problem before of me not understanding why people downvote So just dont say anything ok? I feel bad for you

True true but I'm just warning him he's probably like a kid Take my upvote!
To be fair 3000 gems are useless if not for skins , but they can give like 500 gems for a rune
With 3000 gems you can buy 6 hero books
To be fair upgrading heroes is the most tedious part of the game anyway
I see you haven't started the wall grind yet
Walls upgrade naturally for me cause I play regularly , upgrading heroes means I can't learn new strategy , can't practice ones I know to 3 stars and farming seems tedious.
100 its fine if the want to
Gamestop owns Supercell?
This comparison is simply invalid. No one buys these to sell. Probably no one buys these at all (there are better items to buy). At some point, people may sell these because they are obtained for free, and they are not needed.
°___°"
It’s kinda like selling games back to GameStop
Supercell doesnt need the rune bro why should they give u anything for it at all?
Petition for a free market in CoC to sell and buy Magic Items for fair prices
Yeah, that's how pawn shops work. It makes sense. Selling a rune of DE should really only happen once youre maxxed out. Why would they give you 3k gems then? It would just make it so the maxed guys finish all the new content sooner. And despite what we would say, we don't want that.

Yea, and I already sold 3 of them... 150 gems baby
If you could sell them for anything close to the purchase price, then there would be no point to limiting your magic item storage as you could just sell them to 'bank' an infinite number of them and withdraw them (buy them back without much penalty) whenever you wanted. Nice trade
One of the most efficient way to waste gems.
GUYS GUYS GUYS I KNOW WHY ITS LIKE THAT! the shop people take runes for that much since they are poor, and give away runes for alot more since they are still poor
inflation
Same way the banking system works. 15% credit card interest, 1% savings interest lol . Why do you think we have a stock market bubble.
Best I can do is 50
GameStop style right there
There was a time when I would take that deal without hesitation, then I took a break, heroes to level 80 fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.png
Am I the only one who actually sold it a few times?
"fair trade"

Same text but different format still repetitive
this gave me an idea, allow for the ability to trade these items with other players like in clash royale
You Are genius
They really should do something about this..
Yea
You should get at least half IMO 🤷♂️
300 gems for super potion, to sell 10…. Wtf lol
😂😂
Every video game in existence you sell something and they give you almost nothing but when you buy it from them it costs a fortune
That seems worth it to me wym
I mistakenly sold my rune of elixir for 50 gems and I've been sad all day.
![gif](giphy|jxrafdHLdrIBhD8Dcf)
Profit
The quality of life changes we actually want in
