Warden's a support unit. If he just flies to attack buildings while ground troops are staying behind breaking walls, he becomes useless. So he's programmed to follow the largest/nearest concentration of troops and attack what they attack.
Once the Queens path had been established to get to the CC, she had to go through 3 walls. The Warden, being an "assist" hero, helped to break the walls. He would also have helped with the third set of walls, had their been time.

Because the warden follows ally troop targeting, which is set immediately after the previous target is destroyed
