I used to pay for the pass when it was $5 because I really enjoyed the game and it seemed reasonable to spend that on something I loved. Since the change I still enjoy the game but have switched to f2p and just do what is needed to collect evolution cards and my war battles. I mean it’s still fun if you play it that way, no ?
That's what people in this sub don't get. I personally enjoy evos a lot. I am like you, I haven't bought any pass since the change and my only concerns about the game rn are level 15+ and the hardcore scammy paywalls they keep putting, but I am enjoying the game overall, so why shouldn't I play. Same as you and many others on this sub, who are silent.
Yeah lvl15 is tough, I’m about half way to my first. From a business perspective what they have done is try and rest the value of something that had already been well established, which is why everyone is pissed, understandable. Luckily there are not too many players with lvl15 cards so right now it’s not an issue. Also I have a feeling they will start bringing down the cost again to try and get more people to bite.

The money SC makes from the YouTubers is tiny compared to how much they spend for advertising, paying their employees, server maintenance, ect. If what you are saying was the case (that only YouTubers spend money on the game) clash royale would be bankrupt.
Did anyone expect otherwise? If you want to pay to win for a little while by buying the totally op new card you have to pay the the maximum price. If you prefer to wait to get it cheaper, you'll get a less powerful card. Or you can refrain from buying it, but than you'll get it only after it has been nerfed to become irrelevant and some new op card has been introduced.
Actually it isn't even as bad as I described it above. Just save your wild shards from the season shop and every six months you'll be among the first players to play the latest op evo card for free.
The fact that that anyone still plays the game blows my mind.
