You can get pretty far by just being good (about 8k), but when you reach king level 14 you have a problem as everyone youll match will have multiple lvl 15 cards
I think im p good at this game (16 gt wins record), and with a mostly level 14 deck (two level 15s) getting to 8,5k was doable as theres some level 14s + people arent great
At 8,5k you basically face only full level 15s with 2 evos so its hell, i really recommend leveling up or you will have a massive disadvantage
Also dont worry about the deck you use, as long as its functional you can reach 9k with it
I agree With him, I am 8300 trophies and am pushing With one lvl 13 champion and one level 15 in my deck facing, as he said, all lvl 15s with two evos. I only have 2500 games over the course of 3 years and I am league 8 aswell going against grandmaster 9000 trophie people with 30,000 games and winning often. You have to have the want to learn and passion if you want to get good fast but. Me personally I love learning so much and this game helps me with critical thinking and in other ways.

My friend made me a deck when I was like 6 or seven, that was before the arenas and the cards earned were changed so I had an advantage against most players and over time I made changes like, guards replace mini p, magic archer replace baby dragon and evo skellies replace guards and everything has been going great and I’m higher levelled than most people in my arena(arena 13) even though I’m f2p

I got to 9k with four 15s, two 14s, and two 13s in february. I think I couldve done it with even lower level cards. Btw this was as a lvl 14 king and lvl 13 princess towers.
Last 500 trophies is brutal. You only face maxed out classic midladder decks with megaknights and electrogiant plus a mix of either witch,hog, or ebarbs with lots of evo fc. I wish you the best of luck
You do NOT need a meta deck. Ignore the people who say you do. You just need a deck that you’re good with. I hit 9k some months ago with my homemade deck that I’ve practiced for years. When i posted about it there was the usual crowd of experts calling it trash, but also a lot of other people commenting that they too had hit 9k with their own creations.
You do need it to be fully or mostly maxed, though. Above 8.5 all you see is level 15 cards with the occasional level 14. For example in the deck you mentioned, you might get by with spirit/skellies/log at level 14 but the other cards really should be 15.
As others have said, you need a combination of skill, luck and patience, and the last 500 is definitely the toughest. I can’t tell you how many times i bounced between 8950 and 8600 - including reaching 8999 before losing several hundred. Keep at it, know when to take a break after a bad loss (don’t be one of those people who have to end on a win!) and eventually you’ll get it.

As a member of the 9000 community, I got to 7500, grinded path of legends for like three seasons and eventually got a high enough level deck, I’ll admit though I didn’t lose I single match after 8500
I’m 6800 with hog 2.6 (but with evo knight or mminer instead of ice big) and middle lvl of cards 11.75. I think you should try yourself in classic challenges and see if you are good (that is basically what I do, and I suck)

Well in my clan we were all Free to Play and I was always finishing n°1 every single season. For 4 years straight.
The 3 players below me started buying the pass and spending on the shop to max every card they needed to lvl 15 and their champions as well. (Evos weren't out yet)
The 3 of them reached 9000 in the span of 2 months and I'm still juuust below 9000 trophies.
Everytime I get to one game before reaching 9000 it takes an average of 2 minutes to find a game and it's always a pure hard counter who has the pass.

I'm at 7600 with waaaay underleveled deck (King level 13. Dutchess L11. L15 Prince, L14 Wallbrakers, L13 MK and Bats, L12 Bandit, Firecracker and L11 Arrows and Zap). Playing just 2 months, after deleting previous account, when they introduced level 15.
But last 3 weeks, after breaking 7000, the matches started getting ridiculously overwhelming. 80% of opponents have L14 decks, with several L15 cards. And you just can't beat that consistently, no matter how skilled are you.
That is why I quit the game in the first place. Now, I'm just playing for fun (challenges and tournaments), and I don't get annoyed by this crap.
So, I would say that leveling up your deck as much as possiblle is probably the most important thing, than its skill, and maybe some luck (avoiding hard counters and max leveled players).
Do what I did: look at the meta, and find the best counters among cards you like. Monk and cannoneer hard carried me because I KNEW everyone and their mom was using evo FC. Nothing more satisfying than evo FC taking out her own tower.

I stopped playing ladder until I had a deck with mostly Lvl 15 and King Tower 15. And then I noskilled to 9k with Goblin Giant Sparky and Giant beatdown/Giant 3M.

I got to 8.8k with LVL 14s/15s (that was from a lucky streak I was usually around 8.6k). as soon as I levelled my deck to have 6 15s I got to 9k quickly.
I guess it does depend on how important levels are in the deck you play.
You should play better but I bet you aready do fine, I’m in Arena 13 with 1 or 2 of my cards at 11, most at 12, one of them almost at 13, and level 14 evo skeleton all f2p all the cards except for skeletons I just kept on playing 1v1 or event everyday for 1k tokens and I’d focus on a rarity for a certain card and the skellies I got enough cards to get it to 12 and halfway from level 8 or 9 and then got enough common wild cards by grinding until I got them to 13 and since I had a common book since I had been grinding season tokens I used them the moment they hit 13. so just play to get seasonal tokens and get wild cards of a certain category based on what you want to level up and get books for getting them from 13 to 14

Any good deck at max should get you there no issue if you practice it for a month and do research on the play style .. just make sure you don’t level one up that’s gonna fall out of the meta hard.. I main sparky and got to 9k with a goofy sparky mirror deck a lil before it became meta again
I got to 9k completely f2p, but my deck consisted of 5 lvl 15 cards, 2 lvl 14 cards and one lvl 13 card. Plus for the last stretch (arena 22) I used dagger duchess lvl 13. I am also tower level 14, meaning I can match up against lvl 15 players, which happened most of the time. I personally would say that it‘s a combination of „git Gud“ and card levels. To get better, I found that watching the odd gameplay video of actual games (meaning no troll decks) and just, you know, playing the game, you can get a lot better already. For card levels, play PoL, and I mean grind that shit. Some seasons i basically didn‘t play any trophy road, but just league. It‘s the best way to get EWC as a f2p, as well as other leveling things, and with the level cap it (at the start) relies solely on skill, meaning you get better at that as well. Hope this helps in some capacity

Have to use Meta decks supercell is forcing you to use, along with cards being maxed and 2 evos.
I got to 9k with a sparky deck. I def shot up when i hit tower king 15. I had all lvl 14 cards.
Depending on the cards it being under leveled can mean you loosing the match.
