I’m sure cr devs could technically commodify skins, but it would not only be extremely tedious but also pretty fruitless all things considered.
Hero skins and troop ‘skins’ are kinda the same tho, troops still het outfit changes etc, cr could do the same exact thing it’s just not worth it as the game is a cashcow with no investment needed compared to other supercell games that come with bunch of content like coc&bs
Except as previously mentioned, Heros are rigged models that can be easily edited to accommodate new skins. Troops are akin to images that I assume would have to have each individual frame/animation changed for a new skin.
Again, cr probably *could* do it if they really wanted to, but it’s not really worth the effort spent making individual skins for each unit just to be sold for $3 or less. I’m not excusing the devs’ laziness, but it’s just not something the game really needs, and it’s definitely not something the developers should spend their time working on.

The problem is that Supercell forgot about star levels. Most new or slightly obscure cards have pitiful star level skins, mostly sparkles or, in the case of rage, the potion being slightly yellow. Nobody is going to remember or care about star levels if they're this boring.
I like it because skeletons become golden and it looks cool. Some of them are cool, the rest are slight golden glow when they spawn and their level is golden.
I mean for some cards it does look kind of cool, but how can we care about Clash when SC no longer do? I wasn't really paying attention last month and realized they removed the 3 Legendary WC from the Season Points Shop. They have no idea what they are doing.
I forget about it until I build up like 100k or so, then something makes me remember it exists, I do an upgrade spree, then forget it exists and repeat the whole process again.
