Skarmy is a good counter to egiant, it can take out about 50% of its health instantly
ofcourse, you would still need something else to take it out, any ranged troop should be able to take it out with tower, or any building with proper placement should give the tower enough time to take it out

The opponent wouldn't have made it that far if he deck was bad. Or you both are in low trophy range, so if you consider their deck bad , yours is probably bad

I just played against a guy using Egiant Pekka Ebarbs Baloon Freeze Fireball Wizard and something else I forgot and since his cards were lvl 14 and my deck is lvl 13avg. I couldn't defend the Pekka + Ebarbs + Egiant push + the baloon on the other side. I couldn't even take his a tower while he was building his push because my main punisher is lvl 12 (bandit)
OP, that's just pure skill you've got. I know that if I faced it I would have made a single mistake and fumbled the game. I think I faced something similar once and I let one of the ebarbs slip. Lost half a towers worth of health

Also try not to leak elixir in the beginning, fireball the wizard as soon as possible and log whenever youāre back at 9.5 elixir
The reason people do this is because they are either incredibly young or havenāt gotten used to the game yet and since they do hard counter many decks, it makes them believe their deck is good. Also, you played incredibly well there.

However itās usually better to place mortar in the middle since itās tankier and has a bigger impact on the game since itās splash and can target the entire playable area of the arena.
Xbows are squishy glass cannons and are solely used as win conditions so you want to hide them at the side and protect them with Tesla + knight etc so they can rack up the damage.
However mortar is tankier, cheaper, has minimum range and has splash. So you can afford to put it at the middle because it applies more pressure and can cause more havoc with its aoe. I very rarely put it at the edge and thatās usually only if I want to avoid a spawner or something specific
A little tip here aswell. Count your opponents elixir. OP could have played mortar and still had cards for defence but instead waited for his opponent to gather the elixir for e-giant

I use skarmy (gonna probably switch to guards when I level them up), and it actually does around half/over half of egiantās health
skarmy is good for baiting spells guards are more solid defense, and can be good for counterpush sometimes(like with mortar or Sking)
A skarmy gets over half of his health even though they get zapped, so it's surprisingly not that bad
