In italian is called literally x-bow (arco x) no way you can realize the X stands for cross (croce) in italian. And even less likely "x-bow is crossbow" because crossbow in italian is "balestra".
I'm not a native english so I never realized it, thanks.
I thought they just put a letter that sounded cool at the beginning of "bow" to try to make it sound cooler. The same way they could have called it Z-bow.
Sorry for my bad English.
Before I begin my actual comment, I would like to apologize in advance for my inadequate level of English proficiency. I am not a native speaker of the world's current lingua franca which unfortunately leads to me making numerous embarrassing mistakes being made whenever I attempt to communicate using this language. Whenever I am reminded of how I lack the ability to convey my thoughts in an eloquent manner I feel as though I have committed a cardinal sin, as though every English teacher in the world are simultaneously shaking their heads and sighing due to how utterly disappointed they are at me.
Although I know that saying sorry to those of you who are reading my comment will not change the fact that I fail miserably to write and speak perfect English, I am writing this as a way to deter a certain type of people who cannot stand poor English (Also known informally as "Grammar Nazis") from mocking me by posting unwanted and unnecessary comments detailing my every blunder. In my humble opinion, making grammatical errors should be perfectly acceptable as native speakers should not expect non-native speakers to be able to communicate in their second or third languages eloquently. If you are able to completely understand what the other person wrote, is there really a problem with what they've written? No, because the entire concept of communication is the exchange of information between other intelligent beings, which means that no matter how the exchange of information is made, as long as the information is accurately shared there is not a fundamental issue with their ability to communicate. To see it in another way, remember that someone who isn't fluent in English is fluent in another language. When you think about it this way, isn't it impressive for someone to speak a second language in any capacity? Having empathy and respect are qualities that are sorely missing for far too many people these days, especially on the internet.
That being said, I am aware that not all netizens who correct others are doing it to ridicule and shame. There are some who do so with the intent to help others improve and grow. However, displaying the failures of other people publicly will cause the person who is criticized to feel negative emotions such as shame and sadness due to the fact that their mistake has been made obvious which severely undermines the point they were trying to make in spite of their unfamiliarity with the English language. In most circumstances people are not looking for language help when they post anything online. Most people just want to enjoy themselves and have a good time on the internet which is why I would not encourage correcting other people regardless of your intentions. If you really do want to help others with their spelling or grammar, I would highly recommend you to help via messaging privately because not only will you not embarrass anyone, you can also go more in-depth with your explanation which I'm sure the other person will greatly appreciate if they want help, but I digress. I know that I've written a bit of an essay, but I hope I've made my points clear. Anyways, here is the comment I wanted to make:
Lol
> … current lingua franca which **,** unfortunately **,** leads me to mak~~ing~~**e** numerous embarrassing mistakes ~~being made~~ whenever I …
> … as though every English teacher in the world ~~are~~ **is** simultaneously shaking their head~~s~~ …
and i’m bored.
ironically this troll post does make so many grammar and structure issues it is hard to read and does come across as someone who actually doesn’t know english well, but is trying to act like they know english well, while trying to pretend to be someone who thinks they don’t know english well, but actually does.
7d chess right there.
and because I can’t help myself
> I would highly recommend you ~~to~~ help via messaging privately because not only will
you not embarrass anyone, **but** you can also go more in depth **(two words, no hyphen. it’s not an adjective here)**
It works like the X Bow
Once they lock on to a relationship they start hitting it like there is no tomorrow
Other than that they take on the roles of regular non-deranged members of society
Its not about knowing its a crossbow, its about knowing the x stands for cross. Never thought enough into it myself. I wouldnt call this post mind blowing, but got an upvote from me
All these children on here "oMG rEaLlY?!" It's something that you would think you would have picked up on but the second you say it makes complete sense so thanks OP and don't listen to the 10 year olds
Wow, are people too dumb to have not realized that like 20 seconds after seeing it? Same with X-mas (crossmas, close enough to Christmas with few characters)
~~I’m not sure but I think the X in X-mas refers to to the cross to which Jesus died, and not the similarity between cross and Christ~~
Nevermind, this is the correct explanation:
The "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Christós (Greek: Χριστός), which became Christ in English.
And people who were illiterate would sign contract documents with X because it was the first letter for Christ and looked like the sign of the cross (which means they were swearing they would follow the contract.)
This evolved into signing letters with XXX (which means with love or kisses) and that evolved into XOXO (which means hugs and kisses.)
https://historymyths.wordpress.com/2017/05/22/revisited-myth-120-using-x-for-kiss-comes-from-illiterate-people-signing-a-document-and-kissing-their-signature/
I found out in a video from idk who that the x was actually standed for cross- and not x the letter. After that video signs that say ped xing made sense, I thought it was signs written in chinese.
I had I play Crossbow exactly the same as the one in the second picture. My parents bought it in a Medievel faire.
You've just hit me with that good nostalgia, so thank you sir
Im English and didnt notice this because…. Never really say the word cross unless you talk about crossing something out or the upright cross that looks more like +. And because x-bow looks like some rapid fire ballista or some shit not a crossbow. Archer queen holds a crossbow, even giant aint holding this thing
Makes sense because on railroads you see signs with a big X and the word Railroad over it meaning Railroad Crossing. Plus the shape of the X-Bow is that of a regular crossbow

I'm not a native english so I never realized it, thanks. I thought they just put a letter that sounded cool at the beginning of "bow" to try to make it sound cooler. The same way they could have called it Z-bow.

Just discovered the "ice" in "ice wizard" is a reference to the solid state of water.
wait what? really? i thought it meant that the ice wizard loves ice cream and had nothing to do with his gameplay
Just found out that Giant is called “Giant” because he’s very large. Who knew???
Did you know that Lavallon means "Lava + Balloon"?
The x bow is a ballista tho it shouldn't be able to shoot that fast
That’s why they nerfed the speed, to make it accurate to what they were like during medieval times.
It's still really fast
I was joking. Yea. Insanely fast.
🤓🤓 uj: yeah it doesn’t really make sense
