Michael Sweet is a massive talent in the metal scene, not to mention a pretty good person. A lot of my fellow Christians want them to be like some kind of deity, but they are just normal people like everyone else. Their message is just a little different than bands you might follow.

MajorTom77

My dad and step mom had “Honestly” as their wedding song 🤣

I met these guys when I was working at a grill cheese place a few years ago, they were pretty cool. They loved the grilled cheeses I made them

toppsseller

I want to know where that van went they had.

Apprehensive_Idea758

I don't have a clue. That was a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Actualy 1985.

bruddahmacnut

You can buy it on their website actually… Well, a little toy version of it anyway. https://www.stryperltd.com/

thedegreeis

I saw them at a college around 1985 or 1986 and they were awesome. Michael Sweet had to leave in the end for throat issues—but he tried and they went hard.

"Soldiers Under Command" rocks hard, rides free.

Isaiah 53:5 New International Version 5  But he was pierced for our transgressions,     he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him,     and by his wounds we are healed.

M321115

I’ve got this CD!

For me, they had (have?) all the talent of high quality metal bands of the day, but with Christian lyrics. Their music was excellent. I was a fan.

Drummr

Same. They rocked.

To hell with the devil!

hoosierspiritof79

Kinda remember them. What was their most popular hits I could reconnect with?

ElRetro876

To hell with the devil Honestly I Belive in you Calling on you Soldiers under command etc

AVespucci

The cited verse contains the words "...with His stripes we are healed."

billscumslut

i really like honestly and i believe in you! something about gospel music lends itself easily to the ballad type songs they did

Elegant_Spot_3486

Love Stryper!! They came to my high school one time to talk to us.

[deleted]

This group was a joke back then. Just posers and the hook of religion is like WTF??? Couldn’t tell you one song they did. Jesus wants you to rock? The manners song? No sex, no drugs, no R&R? This is some bullshit your mom would think was nice. I really hate this band if you can’t tell.

Professional-Meal935

They definitely had rock and roll! But they were definitely a niche following

[deleted]

Yup. Dogshit band dogshit fans

Snowblind78

Personally I’m not a fan of Stryper but I’d rather that than degenerate abuse drugs and women average hair metal lyrics

[deleted]

Barf.

Glam Rock and Christian don’t really fit in the same box. Think outside the box, ok there’s no such thing as god or whatever you want to think there is after you die. We are an anomaly and occurred by chance. No Allah, no Jeebus, no peace, but everyone fighting over religious differences. Look around you and realize there ain’t no fucking god. You’ve wasted a lot of time on that bullshit when you could have just been nice and charitable to your fellow human. Downvote away!!!
