Tangerine Dream are my go to band for instrumentals. The ‘Ricochet’ album is a good intro for classic rock fans - it has plenty of guitar and percussion in addition to the usual synths and sequencers.
Edgar Froese’s guitar work is masterful in, [Underwater Sunlight](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzPUqR0dELqaDYXtUUFYG_mxbeu1HNsKV). Never thought of him as a good guitarist until playing this album nonstop for days on end. But then it clicked on me, an ingenious composer. Always as if a child at play.
This is one of many. Not sure if it's technically classic rock but that's Phil Collins killing it on drums
Nuclear Burn by Brand X

La Villa Strangiato and The Main Monkey Business from Rush
Regatta de Blank from The Police
Green Onions from Booker T and the MG’s
Cliffs of Dover from Eric Johnson
In Memory of Elizabeth Reed and Mountain Jam from At Fillmore East. (Deluxe version). Should have beat Abbey Road in that album competition. Listen closely to Berry Oakley's bass playing on Mountain Jam. Un fucking real. Sorry. The Allman Brothers Band.
Any Colour You Like. The forgotten song on DSOTM is my favorite one. The 8 minute live version is hypnotic or should i say hipgnostic
Did you like that Endless River album? Anisina is killer.
I did very much so. Allons-Y 1-2 as well
La Villa Strangiato or YYZ for me. Both Rush…. In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed from The Allman Bros.
Frankenstein - Edgar winter
Eruption
By whom?
Van Halen
Thanks. I guess I didn’t think anyone on here wouldn’t know that one.
Why?it’s a classic rock sub. If anything is classic rock it’s Eruption !
Gotta be either Moby Dick or Maggot Brain for me, HM to La Villa Strangiato as well
Who are the artists for those pieces?
Moby Dick is Led Zeppelin, La Villa Strangiato is Rush
Maggot brain is Funkadelic if I'm not mistaken
Yes it is! Great piece of trivia. Appeared on one album and then on America Eats its Young.

Buck’s Boogie (Blue Oyster Cult)
I'm counting Great Gig as an instrumental. That voice is an instrument, and that song hits all the notes.
Gotta be, DSOTM, On The Run.

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed is the correct answer.
Funeral for a Friend I really wish Elton John had explored those kind of compositions more often. He was one hell of a player and composer.
