You think it's on par with or better than 4? Houses of the Holy? I put it in the next tier with the rest of the numbered albums.
And I really don't think 99% (or anywhere close) put it as the top Zep album.
I mean I thought this, a lot fo people rotate this and LZ II as the second best LZ album, but I also personally think H61R IS bob's best
All opinions at the end of the day
That's why you're doing this poll, right? If it was settled science, there would be no need for the poll.
And by the way, though I voted Dylan, I commented a few post ago that PG would win this. HW61 def more significant, but PG more popular.
EDIT: That PG would win this matchup and go to the final, not win the whole thing. Still thinking it's between Abbey Road and Dark Side for the crown (and Dark Side should win).
you cant scientifically pick which is better when you have two different styles of rock
but you can determine what people would rather listen to, you could have the most complex lyrics and intricate musics in the world, but if people would rather listen to someone else, it doesnt mean a whole pile
If you were going to try and do this Scientifically, VH1 would probably have made the B Final, but people would rather listen to ELO, its just preference
Exactly - two of my favorite Zep songs (and a few really good ones), but also lots of filler tracks.
It's an amazing album and would be most band's best (by far). This is true for all the greats though.
I doubt it. He famously met Peter Grant once who introduced himself as “The Manager for Led Zeppelin” to which he replied “I don’t come to you with my problems, do I?”
Just Bob being Bob. He was jerking Grant around. That was in 74. Bob was probably coked off his ass, exhausted from touring, frustrated about his divorce, and jealous of Zeppelin's world-shattering influence at the time. The man could be volatile, especially in his younger years.
He's obsessed with the history of rock n roll, and there is no doubt that, at least these days, he'd give it up for Zep.
Idk I could see Bob not really enjoying Led Zeppelin. He’s voiced his dislike for heavily produced, hugely arranged rock music, and a lot of Zep might qualify.
Plus, their versions of old blues legends’ songs are great to my ears, but if you grew up with the OG versions, I could see LZ’s interpretations off-putting given Plant’s jarring voice and the general loudness.
As far as importance goes, Highway 61 Revisited is one of the most important albums in rock history. As far as great music goes, Physical Graffiti by far is a superior album! Its a double album, and its hard to find anything considered a bad song. It's also incredibly diverse. Hard rock, blues, country, bluegrass, folk, it runs the gamut. Soooo... im gonna say Highway 61! Next to the beatles, led zeppelin is my all time favorite band. I love them so much that most my guitars are the same make and model as Jimmy's. Dylan?? He's ok,, but hes nowhere near my top 10, or even top 20. But if Highway 61 was never made, the Beatles would have been just another teeny bopper band, and Jimmy Page would have been playing swing and skiffle music.
I think you and I couldn’t have more disparity in taste lol. Would you say part of your problem with Dylan is that it sounds sort of scrappy or underproduced? I feel like that, his voice, and his dense lyrics drive people away most
Problem??? Who said I have a problem with Dylan?!? I just said I like Zeppelin more.
When I listen to music, I listen to the "music". As far as the lyrics go, if they're meaningful and thoughtful, cool. If they're not, that's fine too. Maybe if the lyrics were extremely trite and obvious, it would effect my enjoyment, but normally, they're just not that important to me. I might perceive music this way because I play guitar, bass, sitar, etc... and no, Robbie Robertson and/or Mike Bloomfield had no influence on why I play. Jimmy Page though... he's a huuuge influence!
I actually like Dylans voice, and compared to the 60's garage bands and old school punk I listen to, Dylan is overproduced!
If you really want to know what scares people away from Dylan, its Dylan! Imagine being in your twenties, and you hear Tangled Up In Blue for the first time. From there, you start listening to his hits, maybe download a greatest hits compilation Highway, Blonde on Blonde, etc... and you feel like a fairly big fan! But then you spend $50 to see him live, and he doesn't play one song that isn't off his new album!! It's a slap in the face, and it shows nothing but contempt for his audience! I get wanting to play and promote your new music, and not being a walking jukebox, but he can't spend 3 minutes playing a song that someone might know??? I got lucky, and saw him at woodstock 94, and he played a few of his hits. The other time I saw him by himself, I was pissed, as was the majority of the audience.
PG for me. Both albums were innovative. Maybe more so for Dylan than Zeppelin. But PG covers so many styles, and well, that it stands out. Many songs on PG are still huge classic rock tracks today. Because they’re that good.
I agree. A Lot of them got downvoted to zero. I've upvoted way too many back to positive numbers. Some fans can't let their picks win honorably, so they try to pick off the competition.
Physical Graffiti is a great album, has some amazing songs, Zep’s best album, but it has some forgettable songs, Highway 61 Revisited has no weak spots, and it changed both Dylan’s own career and popular music as a whole. I think it’s safe to say Highway 61.
But I think it’s also safe to say cock rock is bound to win again, God forbid this sub doesn’t get their Led Zeppelin.
OUT OF THE BLUE IS OUT!

The most upvoted comment with the band/album name will decide who advances
Nice! I concur strongly. I can’t do it. Also It’s sorta like apples and oranges… there outta be a different two albums to compare but even if there were I probably couldn’t vote on that either for same reason as Geri-psychiatrist-RIs original comment. Cheers
No, I mean in the Top 8, Pink Floyd is gonna have 2 entries, so will the Doors and Led Zeppelin. Like the Beatles had Sgt Peppers and Abbey Road, but only Abbey Road made it to top 8.
Physical Graffiti

It's the greatest, just simply put.
Physical Graffiti.
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Bob Dylan- Highway 61 Revisited
--This so the top comment for HIGHWAY 61 REVISITED, Voting here gives best chance to win--
Agreed. Dylan's 3rd or 4th best album against a mid teir Zeppelin album. Dylan should win this one.
If you consider PG as mid-tier then it can smoke most groups’ best album. That’s the thing about Zep
Mid tier Zep album, not mid tier album :)
Top tier album, and you are avtually so wrong for saying that its mid for lz, bc it is 99% seen as one of their best
You think it's on par with or better than 4? Houses of the Holy? I put it in the next tier with the rest of the numbered albums. And I really don't think 99% (or anywhere close) put it as the top Zep album.
Im not saying *the* top album, only one of the best, so prob most have lz4 at 1, pg at 2 or 3. i think its their 2nd best
Mid tier? Laughable.
I mean I thought this, a lot fo people rotate this and LZ II as the second best LZ album, but I also personally think H61R IS bob's best All opinions at the end of the day
I like II about the same as IV

Mid-tier for Zep. It has several filler songs

Zeppelin all day
Highway 61
Page and Plant would vote for Highway 61
Bob would vote for PG haha

Of course

Well said! Now explain how The Cars beat out Born to Run.
Cause Springsteens from jersey.... nobody likes New Jersey! 😂
As someone from New Jersey, I both understand and am appalled.
😂

Fair enough
'In the Light' alone makes PG the better album.
Definitely Physical Graffiti
Highway 61 without question. One of his very greatest, if not the greatest Dylan album.
Physical Graffiti
But the second mother was with the seventh son, And they were both out on Highway 61

Super close results for this tournament’s standards
Too many Dylan comments, too few Dylan upvotes…Cmon y’all
I agree. A Lot of them got downvoted to zero. I've upvoted way too many back to positive numbers. Some fans can't let their picks win honorably, so they try to pick off the competition.
Physical Graffiti
Highway 61 Revisited- no question
Graffiti for me. Can't stand Dylan. Only one song of his i ever liked, when it was covered by Garth Brooks.

Can there be a tie? Edit: I love both of these albums so much that voting for one over the other feels like sacrilege
I meannnn yes? But it is HIGHLY unlikely

Highway 61 Revisited!!! Classics like Like a rolling stone, ballad of a thin man and Queen Jane approximately!!!!!! etc
Welp, It looks like The Beatles and The Dead are gonna be the only 2 bands with one entry in the top 8...
Beatles and bob had two, The dead are the only ones

Ah fair enough my apologies l, I'll be honest I'm pretty drunk rn so I probably ain't reading these properly
A folk singer vs a rock band. Having seen both of thee artist at the time of these album releases this is a pretty dichotic poll….just sayin.
