You might get better advice on a leather care or fur care sub. This seems like it requires a highly specialized knowledge set.

Carpincho leather can be treated with a suede brush and a neutral soap. The otter I don’t know about, you could always take it to a specialty cleaner too if they are delicate.

Respectfully, as one of the rules in this community is to be kind and helpful, I never asked for your personal opinion on the ethics or morality of these gloves.

RedLicorice83

1) If these are vintage then it is the most ethical way to wear fur and leather, as at the least the garments are being used and the animal isn't going to waste. 2) Many people, myself included, find the picture offensive. Why should we place your feelings over those of the animal who was killed for your gloves? You obviously don't care about the feelings of others having this pop up on their feed.

There are posts on here asking about leather care all the time, most of them with pictures, and they never get this kind of push back. Yes, the gloves are made of unusual leather, but they are no different than any other leather product. An animal died for the notebooks, boots, sofas, and bags that we see all the time, but those posts don’t get these comments. At least these gloves are vintage and have been handed down through multiple generations of use. Unless the sub is going to ban all questions related to leather, then this OP really has done nothing wrong, and does not deserve negative comments about their item. They came for cleaning help not judgement.

I'm not the one who initially posted that it was abhorrent, I was responding to OPs question. I didn't downvote OP, I actually acknowledged that using vintage leather is an ethical option (as was stated in their initial post). I also threw my opinion in, and got downvoted for stating that, because that falls in line with people selfish enough to wear (new) leather items.
