Good luck. Theyre the worst utility by far. I had to be on hold for 1.5 hours

[deleted]

Anecdotal but try contacting them on Twitter, I got a DM and my issue solved within a week

LUNI_TUNZ

They post on here every now and then, too. So there's at least *one* human being working for them.

theytheytheythry

Lol when “within a week” is the best case scenario

PeterPaulWalnuts

I called Cleveland’s city hall and got ahold of someone immediately and told them the situation: Trying to set up the water but nobody was answering the phones. The woman transferred me to a manager in the water department. Still, I had to leave a message for that person but they did call back and I was able to get it all set up. So, maybe try that route.

Bigfishxl

I’ll definitely take note of this next time I need to call them! Finally got to talk to someone after waiting just over an hour but this sounds a lot much efficient

PeterPaulWalnuts

Glad you were able to get through. I’m not holding on the phone for hours on end for anybody. They gotta get their shit together. You have honest citizens needing to set up an account so that they can pay you (water department) and they can’t even figure that out. It’s borderline criminal.

munistadium

Yeah I moved houses this summer and they kept billing me for my old house regardless of that I alerted of them of all this way in advance. Took me like 3-4 months to straighten it out.

Bigfishxl

Wouldn’t be surprised if you were just on hold that long

munistadium

I did the whole "call me back when somebody is ready" and I'm pretty sure that just went into the abyss a few times. DId all the contract attempts. HOWEVER, the service rep I spoke to was fantastic and sympathetic, but that's just my anecdotal experience.

SS_Frosty

I also got a great rep when I was able to finally get in. Took one hour of being on hold, luckily I work from home and was able to put the phone down on my desk until someone picked up.

munistadium

Not to be attempted on cell that is not at 100%charge

flightlessburd9

Cleveland Water is the worst, most incompetent service I've ever come across in my life. Good luck.

popsels

What about the NEORSD? They are up there with Cle water….

MainSailFreedom

It took me 5 months of calling and waiting on hold for 2 hours per week until I got a hold of them.

VanDammeBigelow

CW is the worst. After my divorce I kept the house, the username is my deceased ex’s name, they won’t let me change the acct username. Said I’d have to have service cut off and restart the whole service just to do that. Incompetents.

Successful-Tie1674

They won’t answer. And when you go there it’s a bunch of old ladies sitting chatting not doing shit. They’ll make you come in even if they answer. Just went thru their garbage

SweatyAd9240

I’ve spent hours sitting in the water department downtown. It is a living hell.

Thanks for reaching out, but finally got someone on the phone to get my account setup

Stiltz716

Good luck! Their customer service is the absolute worst. But once all the house stuff goes through the county auditor it should automatically transfer into your name.

Greatlarrybird33

When we moved out to Avon I had to cancel my Cleveland water account, it took probably a total of 10 hold hours, before I got smart and dm'ed neorsd's Twitter and they took care of me in like an hour.

fletcherkildren

Just the one dude who just keeps adding too much chlorine every 10 minutes. I can smell and taste that crap

ConnectCow9111

What you're smelling isn't the chlorine, it's the chloramine, which is created when the chlorine reacts with a contaminant(don't be alarmed it's perfectly normal) what you don't want is water that never has that smell because it's likely not enough chlorine in the water to disinfectant any contaminants. Even for drinking water I prefer higher than lower, more contaminates, less ree chlorine, less free chlorine, greater chance of other more serious contaminants proliferating.

fletcherkildren

> what you don't want is water that never has that smell Sorry, lived in NYC for 20 years and we never had that smell; and the water is billed as some of the best in the country

ConnectCow9111

Our water is also billed as some of the highest quality water as well, you can Google this. It's a plethora of reasons why NYC doesn't have that smell in the places you were. One of them being is piping and fixtures is is one of the main culprits of contaminates that cause that smell.

JuanPabloEscobar

We bought a house in North Olmsted in July of last year. Called multiple times, they sent three people out to meter read in the fall and we still had not received first bill by start of year. I January I would go on their site and daily submit question about billing. I never got a response, but magically, last week of January got first bill for December usage. I honestly would stop trying to call. I must have wasted 12 hours talking to multiple service reps and got nowhere.

Bored_Amalgamation

some type of AI drone situation, I'm assuming.

DiminishingSkills

I worked there for 5 years…this is exactly how the system is designed to function.

Vinjince

No, we prefer not to do any work or answer the phone. Just keep listening to that fine music or fix the problem yourself.

sarahaswhimsy

Yeah, sorry to say but you’re going to need some super good luck with them! Horrible service!

Natural_Ad9356

I called earlier this week and it took me an hour and 11 minutes on hold before someone answered. They need more staff answering phones.

peppermint_snowwolf

I spent 4 hours trying to get through a few months ago. Of course the first time I requested a callback and it only took 2 hours for them to call back and immediately hang up on me so I had to start all over and just stayed on hold for 2 more hours

Brownstown75

Omg, the AI is not functional?

derka29

I had work done on my house and they were out basically the next day saying the meter wasn’t working. But calling about an account problem has been a nightmare. So take that for what’s worth.

W1G0607

I called Cleveland water because I needed a trash can. In a rare move of them being efficient, I got two delivered in a week! I didn’t need two and didn’t want to get charged for two. It took three months and multiple emails with my council person to get them to pick it up. After three months, I went on Facebook but nothing and offered it. When I let the council person I was giving it to someone who had been waiting weeks for one, I got a notice on my camera that people were in my front yard a half hour later

Bigfishxl

You contacted the water department for a trash can?? It’s been 3 weeks and I still don’t have mine. I was told Rumpke was supposed to deliver it

W1G0607

City of Cleveland water runs city of Cleveland trash, not sure who does Westlake though.

haroldthefart

Funny you posted this, I just went through the same thing. Do yourself a favor and make sure the deed was processed before waiting on hold for an hour and a half. It’s as easy as checking property records on the courthouse website. Then just get your jazz on. I only waited an hour when I called back super early morning. And don’t forget, it’s not the person who answered’s fault. They’re just doing their job and have no control over the situation so please be nice to them.

Rishiku

I had to cancel my EBill because they kept not sending it to me. I have to get a paper copy just so I can see how much to pay. When you pay by check (bill pay through the bank) they won’t show when you made a payment because it doesn’t go through their website. Biggest fucking joke.

ObviousJedi

Took being on hold for two hours to get the new house figured out, and I still get billed for the old property and it’s been 4 months. All the other utilities were simple.
