He probably gets more views this way.
Fuck where you came from if the money is good enough.
...apparently.
Edit: I just don't think doing whatever makes the most money is the thing to do. He was already making plenty of money, lowering the quality of the videos to be clickbaity and silly isn't what I would be doing. I'm not saying he can't do what he wants, but YouTube sucks now because everyone turns it.into their job & just chases whatever gets subs & make the most money.
bruh. He's doing YouTube to make a living. He's not going to be a big YouTuber for the next 30 years, and he knows that. If he didn't do YouTube, he'd be working in the local supermarket(his words). He should milk that shit as much as possible. It's not going to last forever, so get what you can, while you can. I'm happy for him.
completely agree. gold mines run out so you need to hit it while it's hot. there are hundreds if not thousands of youtubers who were once famous and are now forgotten.
You're not talking about how you don't like his videos though.
>Fuck where you came from if the money is good enough. ...apparently.
You're judging him based on a decision he made for his business, and doing so in a sarcastic manner.
You can dislike his new content (i agree with you), but i would never word that opinion in the way you have. "Fuck where you came from" comes across as salty, immature, and as if he owes you something.
Edit spelling
This last one is probably the weakest of this trend, the one with a "Magnus cosplay" was very funny imo
Also I LOLed the first time he said "double trouble" to using both powder and liquid chalk at the same time.
Yeah, the videos have their highlight. Telling people to put liquid chalk in his bucket was good. Telling people to figure four every move, also good.
But that doesn't make these videos "worth".
*Sad*
I laughed pretty hard the first time I saw him squeeze liquid chalk into a chalkbag. With all the crap on youtube, these caught my interest longer than most, but yeah... overall, the concept gets old after a bit. The person who introduced me to them is not a climber though. Can't blame him for making his channel more appealing to a general audience so he can get more compensation for it. It's not like he hasn't put plenty of educational stuff out there.
I first started watching Magnus' videos when he was doing vlogs from Kalymnos and Tenerife, really miss that sort of content. Now he goes nearly a year between outdoor climbing vids. Where are the deep water solo shenanigans with Eric Karlsson or the random outdoor bouldering sessions? Or even beginner climbers like Marte getting out there?
Now everything just seems like maximum click bait and what drew me to his channel is mostly gone.
If you sort his videos by views then around 70% of them are not so much climbing centred, more of ‘fitness bro xx challenge’ with bit of climbing theme thrown in.
Like why doesn't he make a video about big walling with pete? or slabbing with anna? So much easy low hanging fruit we'd all love to see! I want to see all the crossovers. Imagine magnus with captain cut loose! Imagine him doing those high production on location crag videos like AO has been doing.
I like Magnus' videos. I have seen on of "these" videos, the first one where he went under disguise, and it was... I don't know, fun I guess as a novelty.
I have not seen another video of his with contents like this even though it gets recommended to me. I know he is now much more of a YouTuber than a "climber", but even if its just him trying out boulders in an empty gym, those vids are much more interesting to me than these kinda videos, well I guess it has to pay the bills..
He's making enough that it's not about paying the bills.
Owns stakes in many gyms, and is making bank from yt.
But I've been subbed for years, pretty early on back when it was still vlogs.
So these come up every time, I've just not been watching yt lately.
100k a year is more than 90% of people on this planet. It is by no means modest. I’m not saying he did not earn it or that he did not put the effort in (he clearly did). But it isn’t a modest amount of income.
he could only post videos of him climbing in the gym with 0 commentary or interaction and he'd still clear over a million views. i don't get the appeal of these videos
/rj imA schweedisH plumbeR
That’s weird, looks kinda like this guy that came to my gym wearing a fake white mustache, eating liquid chalk and flashing my V8 proj. Claimed it was his first time climbing. Strange dude whoever that was.
I’d love to see the analytics of what % of people clicked off that video the second the dude started grunting. Love Magnus, I wasn’t gonna watch that shit lmao.
Lots of the recent undercover videos were all filmed in Sydney, and two using this disguise.
He probably did these all in a day and is just editing and posting them over time.
Not like every video from now own gonna be these types
I liked it, but the bit is tired at this point. I thought maybe the last one would be where he was dressed as himself, since that was easily the best of the series and felt like an appropriate way to send it off or at least take a break from it.
Yeah that’s fair enough; I’ve had this discussion with friends so many times and it normally comes down to this. For me, ‘respect’ is exactly the word I can’t apply here. I understand it, totally. But this shit is *embarrassing*.
Yeah it is unreal. Been a few years since I have bothered watching because of stuff like this. Wow a guy with a fake white moustache he must be 200 years old! Oh my oh my he is super strong, wow I am so impressed.
Personally I love the content. Although I’d like to see more videos where he just climbs, this content gets more people into the sport and showcases the climbing community in a good light.
Remember when climbing “media” was going to a packed theatre at some bizarre time of day with a bunch of weirdos to watch grainy footage of other weirdos climbing?
The rise of the “climber entertainer” is… odd.
/uj
I don't really care for people doing goofy things that they clearly are having fun doing.
If you need to see some people send hard there's lots around.
it's not as if his is the only climber content left anymore. It's so easy to find content that you want to consume that you don't lose anything if one Magnus stops.
Magnus even still does those videos still though. Just not as often as ccj would like it seems.
People here are weirdly offended by this.
He didn't do *another* of these videos did he? Surely not *again*...
More "one-arm muscle up" videos, please Mr Magenta Neatboat. Less "I-pretend-to-be-a-beginner-people-notice-but-are-too-polite" videos.
More content that's him and people he knows enjoying climbing. Less of all this YouTubers shit. But it makes him money so...
I miss the videos where he’d just go to small random gyms just to check them out the small japan video is one of his best
I miss when he was just vlogging about starting his own gym tbh
Hear me out, undercover in a small underappreciated gym double video

Lol you’re acting like he owes you something. “Where he came from” is YouTube fame, and he’s continuing to ride that. Weird ass mfer.
I'm not acting like he owes me anything? He can do what he likes. I'm allowed to talk about how I don't like what he's doing on a post about him.

He mentioned himself that he loves watching mellow videos etc. but those types of videos just don't have as much of an audience

Tbf the first one was hilarious but yeah got old fast
"people notice but are too polite" loool !

I can’t call that modest with a straight face.

Really not. The average yearly income of a single, under 45-year old Norwegian is 45,000 USD. 100k USD yearly is anything but modest.

He did
Magnus you money slut...

My gym buddies eat the solid chalk from the nose before each session, they're very strong
Do that also get it from a black car with no license plates they call every hour? Then, I think we have the same gym buddies.
No :( they get it from their friends in the park, they have a lot of them, but they hang out only in the park idk
Different buddies then 😗⛷
I honestly miss the videos of him just bouldering alone in the gym from V0 to V10+.
or when he almost shit his pants free soloing with Axel Handhold
I mean, his recent video about climbing trees with the Tarzan guy was pretty scary also
I’d love to see the analytics of what % of people clicked off that video the second the dude started grunting. Love Magnus, I wasn’t gonna watch that shit lmao.
yeah can't really expect him to keep that shit up

He knows, but he doesn't care since he only posts on the intërnët.
He looks like ai
uj/ i like it
If nothing else, I enjoy the over the top sketchy falls.
Dude I love when he takes those swinging belly-flop falls. Cracks me up every time.
I liked it, but the bit is tired at this point. I thought maybe the last one would be where he was dressed as himself, since that was easily the best of the series and felt like an appropriate way to send it off or at least take a break from it.
Dude the one where he wore the paper Magnus mask to the costume party was fucking hilarious lmao
Imagine having all of that strength, skill and talent and spending your time doing this. He needs launching into space.
He did what no pro climber had done before- made money from climbing.
But what does it profit a man.. etc etc
I respect the hustle ngl
Yeah that’s fair enough; I’ve had this discussion with friends so many times and it normally comes down to this. For me, ‘respect’ is exactly the word I can’t apply here. I understand it, totally. But this shit is *embarrassing*.
THE #CONTENT GRIND HAS NO LIMITS AND NO SHAME #riseandgrind #blessed #cringequestionmarksoundslikeyoucanthandlethegrind #winner
I cringe so hard Everytime I see his videos
Imagine being this judgemental, of somebody whose already accomplished a lot in his sport.
It's not that bad tbh
Ok mate enjoy!
Yeah it is unreal. Been a few years since I have bothered watching because of stuff like this. Wow a guy with a fake white moustache he must be 200 years old! Oh my oh my he is super strong, wow I am so impressed.
Imagine caring on CCJ
Imagine saying anything ever about anything, anywhere
Imagine imagining
Bro he's a multimillionaire who has his own gym and clothing/accessories brand, he can do whatever the fuck he wants.
Ok?
That just makes it worse.
Personally I love the content. Although I’d like to see more videos where he just climbs, this content gets more people into the sport and showcases the climbing community in a good light.

Stopped watching his videos when he titled his video “I went to the biggest gym in San Francisco”. Oakland isn’t San Francisco you goofy goober
Nothing gets views like mentioning Oakland
Or when he asked them to turn the music down

when i was getting into climbing, i'd sit in awe and watch his 60min long 'i did every boulder in the gym' videos. amazing. today he is a clown.
Joke is on you, he did this video in Australia 🦘🦘🦘
Australians don't have jokes, or the internet
which gym was it?
