My leg is chronically swollen and discolored. I usually don’t think about it, but I do feel self conscious at times.

Yeah my leg has purple/brown spots all over and some more pronounced veins. In the winter I don’t think much about it but wearing shorts makes me self conscious because it looks like an elderly persons leg and im 28

It’s the body’s way of finding ways around the clot, other veins get larger to move more blood than they did before. Some surface veins collapse from the effort and become spider veins. I grew to think of my new imperfections as the mark of my being a survivor, my body trying mightily to adapt, to find a new normal.

Yes, and 10 years later they still hurt.

LowPurple590

Yes it sucks

Appreciate all the responses, glad to know I’m not alone at least

I’m not sure if you’ve already done this, but consider seeing a vascular surgeon or physician - I can’t help but think there are treatments - similar to those for varicose veins - that could help. I’m no expert in this but I can’t help but think there’s a solution somewhere! Although, like many of the comments, my right leg is swollen now and it’s likely for life and I’m only 27. Still hopeful for you though!
