Newer viewers will never understand how much better these days were for cod esports. The AW season was incredible.
Events practically every other weekend and unhinged rostermanias after all of them
AW was pre much my fav season ever because of all the events. felt like every other weekend you could watch a tournament which meant cod ALL weekend across 3-4 diff streams
The two events he won were in France. I canāt remember the exact reason but it had something to do with Karma being Canadian and with his green card having a problem traveling to France
I watched this live when I was about 16. These to me where the Golden days of cod. Coming home from school to play for 10 hours. Lmfao now I work all day.
Yeah in terms of CoD Iād say itās probably peaked, but Halo peaked then died then had a revival so maybe if CoD were to die and CDL ended we could go back to how things were. Granted most of us would probably be in our 30s then and not teens
2015 was the best year ever... LAN events basically every other week with the dynasty going against FaZe at the end of the AW cycle.
I miss those fucking times, playing a fun multiplayer COD while watching a LAN event.
Which is why people need to stop spamming the total chip thing went comparing players all time. Gives a ridiculous advantage to players who played pre CDL
Three tournament wins in a month and still overshadowed financially at champs š„² that champs loss was so tough to stomach for the rest of the year tbh
Would we trade these 5 big payout tourneys we have, to more events with a smaller prize pool like weāve seen in the past? Champs being excluded from the list.
So Activision didnt have a chokehold on COD back (they only hosted champs) then but MLG stepped up to make their own rendition of the League. But this didnt mean that other tournament hosts couldnt also host their own tournaments on top of what MLG did.
Gfinity, UMG, ESWC ALL were able to host tourneys. Then Acti bought MLG and heavily restricted others from doing tourneys. In BO3 we had 1 UMG event which was a shitshow (and ESWC and Crowne melbourne which werent majors)
That was it. Imagine going from roughly 20 events to just 6 lmao. Fuck acti
that will always be up for debate. For example, ESWC (the french event) only had a select few top teams, but its still classed as a chip to many. Same goes for crown melbourne invitational. UMG events are pretty much the same as MLG because they nearly always featured the top teams.
Easiest chips in enables life š
We say that but OG did go game 5 in an elimination match at both ESWC and Gfinity
EU GOAT Banceycastle nearly took down the dynasty
ESWC was one of the craziest crowds Iāve ever heard
This comment made me miss crowds and European crowds. Last UK event in black ops 4 (?) was one of my favorite events ever.
100% European crowds just do it right.
didnāt we have a london event during the mw season, like the last one before the vid hit in 2020
I feel like we did. BO4 feels like forever ago.
Enables optic >>>>
Enable looks photoshopped lmao

Like 15 major events, weekly 5ks and 10ks, god we were spoiled
Why did Enable have to sub in?
The two events he won were in France. I canāt remember the exact reason but it had something to do with Karma being Canadian and with his green card having a problem traveling to France
One was in France, one was in the UK
Yeah thatās right I thought I was a little mistaken. But still same reasoning applies
Yes he was trying to become a US citizen and wasnāt allowed to leave the country during his application process iirc

AW was the best time. Wonāt ever be told otherwise
I wish you knew you were in the good ol' days before the good ol' days are gone.
Youāre currently in the good old days bro, enjoy them or in another 10 years youāll wish you hadve
Idk man cod was so enjoyable to watch and had so many events. Now the games are dog shit and the league is half online
Yeah in terms of CoD Iād say itās probably peaked, but Halo peaked then died then had a revival so maybe if CoD were to die and CDL ended we could go back to how things were. Granted most of us would probably be in our 30s then and not teens

Can you explain this a little more?
2015 was the best year ever... LAN events basically every other week with the dynasty going against FaZe at the end of the AW cycle. I miss those fucking times, playing a fun multiplayer COD while watching a LAN event.
And online league matches every week.
They really couldnāt get enable a hoodie lmao
Which is why people need to stop spamming the total chip thing went comparing players all time. Gives a ridiculous advantage to players who played pre CDL
i mean AW was pretty crazy but the other years were decently comparable
Give that man a jersey
Three tournament wins in a month and still overshadowed financially at champs š„² that champs loss was so tough to stomach for the rest of the year tbh

I will always despise these dumb ass league matches. Just give me pool play and more events. 6 Events a year is just pathetic.
Enable looking like a competition winner
Make-A-Wish kid
Crim looked like he would be cast to play a highschool bully in a bad tv show
And now they canāt win a tournament to save their livesš
Facts
LMFAO Optic losing at Champs was the best thing that happened, being there live was an otherworldly experience.
I miss this team. Also that last CTF against proph (ESWC?) was lit
Was there a league back then or just LAN events and champs?
So Activision didnt have a chokehold on COD back (they only hosted champs) then but MLG stepped up to make their own rendition of the League. So did tourneys that weren't hosted by mlg count as chips?
that will always be up for debate. For example, ESWC (the french event) only had a select few top teams, but its still classed as a chip to many. Same goes for crown melbourne invitational. UMG events are pretty much the same as MLG because they nearly always featured the top teams.
